We stayed on Whidbey Island for a couple of nights at a friends cabin not too far north of Coupville. Â After 2 days of pretentious restaurants on the water front I talked my wife into stopping here. Â The prices were lower than on the water front and the food is all home made. Â If you plan on coming for lunch, get her a bit early as all the local workers flock here for food.
My blood sugar was a bit high so I opted for the low carb editions of their sandwiches. Â I had Turkey / Bacon / cheese wrapped in lettuce leaves and my wife also opted for a low carb lettuce wrap. Â We split a bowl of their home made chili - which is a bit more substantial than Mosquito Fleet Chili on the water front - but no less tasty.
We split their peach / berry crisp for dessert. Â They did use fresh fruit and you could tell the difference.
I took another look at their dinner menu, and I would still like to try it.
We were running around like mad all day as only the bride can make you do. Â I was not sure if it was due to bridal jitters or boredom, but in any event, we were summoned to fetch and ferry so as all good bridal attendants, we did as told. Â I secretly wondered if she was pregnant, deli she wanted and deli she got. Â
The lady behind the counter is just like your Mom, clearly not like any mom I have ever known. Â She was so sweet, accommodating and took the time to make me feel welcomed. Â She sat me down, took my order and then helped me with the rest of my to-do list. Â In the end, she agreed to adopt me, sorry Mom, your fired!
