Went here on Monday night to meet some girlfriends.

Service was great! Our server was very nice and knows the wine list..  Great selection to choose from..

A variety of tastes to choose off of the food menu. Not being hungry for an entrée,  I chose the Prince Edward mussels off the appetizer menu
Nice presentation and you get a lot of them.. about 2 dozen. The sauce they were steamed in was delicious, however the mussels were not fresh. I only ate a handful, after eating about 5 that were way too mushy, I gave up.

I would have said something but our order was already taken down wrong, and one of the ladies had to wait a while for her correct entrée, many of the other ladies were finished by the time hers came, so I knew everyone would be done eating if I ordered something else.

Nice atmosphere, great wine.. I'll try it again some day and order something else.

Nice atmosphere located in Shops at Legacy. It's always lively here. Try the steamed mussels or some of the pizzas. Knowledgeable wait staff on wines! Ask for Aaron, TJ or Chris!

Since i tend to work late in the evening during the week and work a 2nd job on the weekends its kind of hard for me to take my girlfriend out on dates where we can sit down and enyoy ourselves. One Friday evening i called this location and immediately spoke with someone at the location. I expressed to them that i knew they commonly had full tables so i wanted to make sure i wasnt wasting my time coming out to this location. The man on the phone said he would gladly hold a table for myself and girlfriend since they had few parties coming in that evening.

Once we reached the location i was instantly greeted by many of the staff almost as if i walked into my own families house. From there we got the seating that was described to us on the phone. Shortly after our waiter came to the table with waters and a list of flights to choose from, Reds and Whites, along with a menu. I didnt want to eat too large as this was my first experience so my girlfriend and i chose our wine flights. Im not too much of a wine drinker so the waiter began asking me what types of flavors  did i like, bitter was definetly not one of them. I went with the whites as my girlfriend went with the reds. After having been helped with the wines i informed the waiter we didnt want to eat to heavily so he suggested the "Pear Gorgonzola w/ Honey" pizza. We ended up going with the pizza suggestion along with the crab cake.

As we waited i noticed the music was up just enough to hear our conversation at the table and still jam to the music being played. Shortly after we placed our order our food came out and smell intoxicating! My first move was for the pizza since i had never heard of such a thing and ill tell you all this, "EPIC" would be my words of expression for how well all of the flavors came together in stages. First you had the slight crunch of the pear, then the gorgonzolas tartness came out, and to make the day honey was  there to bring you back to reality. The crab cake seemed to be like the many i have eaten so i wasnt too impressed but it nonetheless was still delicious.

If you are looking for an intimate place to go on a first date or even treat yourself and counterpart to a nice evening out I would highly recommend Cru since many of the other places in "The Shops" are usually packed and very loud

My wife and I stopped in here after an extremely disappointing dinner at another restaurant at The Shops at Legacy (initials GBB). It was pretty late, only 20 minutes before they closed, but the staff was very gracious and accommodating. We sat on the patio and told our server we would only be having wine and dessert. He delivered us both menus and recommended the Syrah flight. I took him up on the suggestion and my wife had the "Sexy Reds" flight. We also had the molten chocolate cake. Everything was really good, but it was the atmosphere and how much more polite and friendly the service was compared to our meal earlier in the night that made all the difference. We were never rushed at all and our server was always patient and willing to share his knowledge with us. We even noticed another couple walk in literally five minutes before they closed and they were treated with the same respect and kindness we were. The only thing that prevents me from giving this a 5 star review is that the cake had a bit of a grainy texture that wasn't pleasant. It still had a great flavor, though. After telling him it was tasty and I did not want to send it back, I asked our server if the cake was supposed to have that texture he said "no, it's not. I think maybe its sugar. I know sometimes if its not cooked exactly right it can have that result. I know from trying to make it at home. It's not easy!" As a server myself, it was really nice to get an honest answer from my waiter when something wasn't right. I hate being lied to by servers! He admitted it wasn't right but made a joke and left me with a positive feeling about the situation, not a negative one. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys wine, whether you appreciate the nuances of fine wine or not. This place helps you appreciate the different aspects of good wine and gives you a bit of an education without making you feel like an idiot if you aren't a sommelier. I can't wait to go back!

I have to say that I was overwhelmed with the restaurant choices in the area near Cru.  I had received some good recommendations, but the spots I was directed towards were all full!  Also, I was exhausted after a 4am wake up call, so I figured I would try for a quiet evening.

Upon entering, I was greeted by the chef (Corey) and the baretender (TJ?) and everything went well from there.  I quizzed Corey on menu items and he was really helpful in steering me in the right direction (though, honesty, everything sounded amazing).  I think they would have given me many thoughts on the wine, but I knew what I wanted, so we only generally talked wine.

The steak pizza was AMAZING.  It was cooked perfectly (medium) and wonderfully delicious with a salad on top of the pizza.  It had a little spice to it as well. It was the perfect dinner size for me and I could have licked the plate!

I tried a few wines and also received a little taste of an amazing champagne after I explained that I loved champagne.

All in all, I had a lovely, quiet dinner with delicious food, great wine, friendly staff and reasonable prices!

    Definitely worth a visit.

Lets just start with WOW! Thank god a place that serves food after 11pm on a Saturday night! Here in Texas on business and stumbled onto this third restaurant after the other two failed. Staying at the Marriott down the block which is great, but the kitchen closed at 11pm! Any ways had the chicken and shrimp pops and pizza Bianca! Both were delicious! Thank you Cru for saving me this lovely Texas night!

I absolutely adore this wine bar. Coming back from Europe, I was looking for the perfect place for my girlfriends and I to catch up and chat and we stumbled upon this place in the Shops of Legacy.

The wine is a little overpriced, but I guess you're paying for the ambiance. They offer flights which are 3 different types of wine for a type of category. I think I hade the white wine flight and it was really good. They have 1/2 champaign and sparkling wine on Tuesday (I think). Service is really good too.

This is a good/bad review. Went there last night and our waiter, Nathan, was great! He was informative without being condesceding, polite, kept our glasses filled. We ordered a great sparkling wine from Spain, delicious and half price bubbles on Thurs.! Fantastic! No complaints there. It was a little confusing, there was no one to greet you or anything.
The rest of the staff was an issue to me. We sat in the far back corner so we had a great view of everything going on. From the manager making an obnoxious noise with his wine glass, talking on his phone and getting a back rub, to the waitress and bartender all over each other in the corner. I think this place used to be a lot more professional; don't know what has changed, but I probably won't be back. Unless I know Nathan will be able to take care of us. Disappointing.

Meh.    Not impressed.  I want to like this place but they keep disappointing me.

Mostly California wines with little from the old world catering to those with an unsophisticated palate.   Nice atmosphere albeit loud if indoors.  The patio is great.     Overpriced but in a nice area.   Inattentive mistake prone poorly timed service more often than not.   The food, when and if it does arrive, is usually pretty good though.  Could use a wider selection of menu items.   The fondue and pizzas are particularly good....make sure the fondue is heated long enough, we've had it come out under done on more than one occasion.

Jaspers, a restaurant located few doors down, has a smaller but better wine selection in terms of quality.  Food and service there are top notch.

Back to the wine at Cru:
Texas wine?   Israeli wine?    Are you kidding me?     Blech!
California is well represented, as is Oregon.
What severely lacks, and should be there, are a wide selection of wines from France, Italy and Spain instead of the paltry selection they have from those regions.  We like to try new wines and they do sell 3 glass flights, but most of those wines available by the glass or flight are unimpressive.    Sometimes you get lucky though.

For the true oenophile, go elsewhere.  (If you don't know what an oenophile is, this place will be OK for you.)   Dee Lincoln's Bubble Bar is a better bet for wine tasting.

Very nice charcuterie with a deep glass of wine. Elegantly plated desserts. Lovely on a quiet Sunday night.

We recently went into Cru for the first time. Just inside the door is a tall black curtain which I think is supposed to simulate some kind of foyer. However, there is no host desk, just a stool on which a member of the waitstaff may (or may not) be perched. All of this was very confusing as the waiter did not greet us, did not seat us (it's open seating), and seemed generally amused by our confusion and acute claustrophobia. That aside, the decor is dark and rather kitschy - big wine labels painted on the walls, a large wall of superfluous wine bottles stored pell mell, and large racks of wine glasses. It was quite loud for six o'clock, mostly due to a rambunctious bar which turned out to be half waitstaff who were waiting for their tables to fill.

We went in because we had heard about some good Wednesday happy hour specials. There was nothing posted or on our table about specials though and the waitress didn't mention anything until after we had ordered our first flights and plates. Three dollars off of flights and glasses from 4-7 was a pretty good deal considering we had never been here before and didn't know what to expect. We had a few flights with some better than others. I was kind of disappointed in the local/domestic selection of wines available by the glass. For the most part the description cards that came with the flights were very accurate which is nice if you're trying to develop a more sensitive wine palette.

It's a good thing those little cards came with the wine flights because our waitress was so inattentive it was difficult to track her down to ask any questions. She gave us no greeting, didn't ask us if we had ever been there before, and offered no suggestions. She took all of our wine menus after we ordered our first flights and we had to ask for them back to order anything else.  When she finally brought over a placard of specials she didn't even know what the special of the day was, had to go ask, and even then couldn't describe it in any coherent way (it was a small plate pizza with italian sausage, roasted bell peppers, and goat cheese).  Once when my guest thanked her for something she replied, "uh huh".  Frankly, I was surprised by such rude service when we were spending well over $75 on a weeknight.

The food, in general, was not something I would order again with the exception of the cheese plates. The lamb was overcooked, the calamari was bland, and the sauce on the potstickers was unidentifiably gelatinous. We also ordered the "Great American Cheese Flight", which, surprisingly, was three domestic (but not local) goat cheeses. I didn't know that goat cheese was THE "Great American" cheese. It wasn't a bad selection, just unusual. All three were good cheeses but it wasn't a particularly balanced plate in terms of flavor profiles and saltiness (two of them were quite salty).

I would probably go here again for some happy hour glasses but definitely not for dinner.

It was a Wednesday so $3 off wines by the glass and flights. They also have apps starting from $3. And for these very reasons, we decided to drive 30 mins in traffic to give it a try. Margarita pizza on their HH menu was $3 and was much smaller (5") than the regular sized (10") thin crust pizza they offer on the menu. Calamari was okay but RA next door does it better. Flights range from $13- $3X and you get $3 off of that during HH (M-F 4-7pm). The wine selection is decent with a wide range of varietal from different regions of the world including Israel. Selections of cheese flights were exciting and we opted that for dessert! It was accompanied with a variety of artisan bread and fruits. Service was attentive and overall ambiance was upbeat and pleasant. I am only giving a 2-star because I have experienced better elsewhere. Perhaps it was the food selection on the HH menu.

All I can say is the lamb lollipops are to die for.  I didn't enjoy the desserts as much.  I didn't like where the restaurant was located it is right at the end so not good for people watching unless you want t look over at the patio of Taco Diner. But other than that the decor is beautiful, I love the service staff very attentive,  fine food and the wine is superb

I love wine (and drink alot of it) so this place had a lot to live up to.... and it has! My boyfriend and I stop by on, maybe, a monthly basis for a drink or quick appetizer. The manager not only remembers our names but also our favorite wine and suggests other wines they have recently gotten with similar flavors. That is pretty incredible.

On two occasions we decided to have dinner at Cru in addition to our wine. It certainly lived up to our expectations! The only bad thing is that we had our valentine's day dinner here and the dessert on that special menu was AMAZING. Unfortunately, they don't offer it on the regular menu and my boyfriend is still (in May) talking about that damn dessert. But lets be real, if the worst thing is that their special dessert was so good we want it again then the place is definitely 5 stars!

    Beautiful spot, love the patio.

We started with the Great American cheese platter and Misto Fristo. The calamari was good and we loved the red sauce. The cheese platter was the star, but the bread basket that accompanied it fell flat. The cracker-bread tasted stale and wasn't crisp. The cheese selection was amazing, fruit was fresh and the honey comb was the favorite pairing with every cheese. My friend and I split the 4 cheese pizza and my hubby had the scallop entree. The pizza was delish as was hubs scallops, although a small portion for the price point.

Expect to pay $9+ per glass and $30+ for bottles. They also offer tasting flights for $12-16. I am not a wine drinker but was with 2 wine lovers.....they enjoyed Pino Noir and Cabs, but too, were a little sticker shocked. Our server tried, but seemed a little irritated, to find a wine I could stomach when I mentioned I only like smooth and sweet, nothing dry. After trying 3 and really wanting a sweeter red, I settled on a SLIGHTLY sweet Riesling, not the best I've had, but do-able.

All in all, it's a nice spot with great food, but I can get similar experiences with a little better price tag.

If you are a wine bar, I don't think it should be an expectation that all your patrons come in for a full meal.  I came in to try a wine flight with a friend and would've been willing to order something small to eat if our waiter hadn't been extremely rude (I had just eaten dinner at another location).

When we declined a food menu and asked for a flight menu, he said they had run out of flight menus.  He proceeded to ask us what kind of wines we liked and immediately brought us out glasses of wine that we had not asked for but had to pay for.  There was no mention of the wine flight menu either... which was the main reason why we came into Cru.  At that point, it would not have mattered anyway since I was spending my money on some random wine the waiter chose for me.

I'm hoping that not all the servers at this location are like that because if not for this bad experience, there would be more stars in my rating.  Sorry, Cru, you struck out this time!

I typically love the wine bar Cru. December 26th I went in around 7 p.m. to grab a good glass of wine and perhaps some dinner. Typically Cru bartenders will pour a glass of wine from their bottle selection. However, I guess last night the gigolo behind the bar could not be bothered to help select a wine because he was too busy hitting on the woman at the end of the bar.

I selected the Cali Cab which had a three 2009-vintage (very young) wines in it. The wines were not to my liking, and the service was non-existent. I tipped the bartender 20% because I knew waiting for him to give me my change would be as impossible as the service. As I exited Cru, he made an inappropriate comment about me to several of the women sitting at the bar.

All in all, this was an unexpected and unpleasant experience at an establishment I usually enjoy.

Two words:  wine and cheese plate (okay that was three)

Cru has really wonderful food.  However the wine selection cannot be beaten.  They carry a wide variety of labels from the good stuff like Silver Oak to smaller wineries out of South America.

The inside decor is like a library, instead of books though they have stacks of wine bottles with ladders on wheels to access the catalog.  They have a wood burning oven where they can cook delicious pizzas.  They have comfy chairs to make out with your date.

This is also a great spot to gab with girlfriends.  One of my friends and I recently went and shared a bottle of wine and cheese plate for hours.  My favorite of the cheese plates is the Chef's pick.  This one comes with 3 different cheese samples:  testun ciuc (aged in a barolo wine cask); Pecorino Brillo (sheep's milk aged in chianti wine); and cashel blue (made in Ireland).  All of their cheese plates come with a basket of a variety of breads, and apples, pears and grapes.

You can also order the wine flights which are various 3 oz samples of wine from different regions/countries.  Your wine flight will come with a printed description of each wine and location.

Once you are done with Cru walk a few steps down the way and see an independent movie at the amazing Angelika theater.  This is a great spot!!

This place is among my favorites, as we were only looking for a wine place this place fitted the bill. We initially got us a flight if wine and selected a bottle from that. What I love about the selection's was the fact that there were so many of the South American as well as Wine's from the other parts of the world that we were left wondering on which one to order. The staff is friendly and helpful, although you may find it difficult to get a place at the patio on a regular Saturday evening as it does not have the room to sit too many people.

We didnt eat anything out of here but i heard its nice, I had a great time as i loved the wine served here :)

My friends and I spent many great evenings there, its a classy place with great wine selection and food: try sea bass, mushroom pizza, calamari and fondue. Great atmosphere, friendly service (they knew us by names lol), beautiful location. Love Legacy, since  I am from Europe I enjoy little streets, shops and some walk. if you are in Legacy, def check out Cru. You wont regret.
Too bad there is no Cru in Cali, I moved a year ago.

I spent a beautiful evening this Winter with friends enjoying wine on the patio.  It's nothing earth shattering.  But it was nice taking in the foot traffic, crisp weather, and Christmas lights.  Accompanied by a few bottles of red.

The selection is normal for a wine bar, and the prices are fine.  It's the only time I've been, and maybe it was a moment in time.  But it was nice.

I love wine and there is nothing more appealing to me than having wine on a patio while feeling a great breeze with good conversation.  That's where Cru comes in to my life.  This location at Shops is perfect for a night out with friends or a date.  The inside is designed so nicely and feels so warm and inviting.  The patio is awesome.  They even have heaters for cold night.  I've never come here and not experience 5 star service.  The waiters are so knowledgeable about their wine list and is willing to let you try a few of them before making a selection.

I plan to spend a lot of summer nights on their patio sipping away.  I've even learned the significance to swirling the wine glass and what types of wine should go in the different shape wine glasses...all thanks to the Cru staff!

Great flight of Malbec and a superb cheese selection from our server.

My scallop and risotto entree was very good as well. The service definitely stood out; Jason was very attentive and the manager was also accommodating. Looking forward to going back!

** Stopped in for a bite on Valentine's Day and got to enjoy the patio which was really nice and had heaters set up so Sweetie didn't get cold. Cru had a prix fixe menu which we enjoyed. Me more than her, but why did she order catfish? I'll never know.

    3.5 Stars

VENUE: Cute little place located at the shops at legacy. Swanky, yet cozy. Good for dates or for small groups (four or less). Walls are decorated with vinyardy feel and adorned with wine bottles on racks.

FOOD: My friend and I tried the Cheese flight, the Pinot Noir Flight, and the Sexy Red Wine flight (merlot, chianti, and an unknown red). DELICOUS. All cheese that were in the flight recommended to us complimented all of the wines in our flights. There was blue cheese, a cheese made with chianti, gruyere, and two more i couldn't remember - all accompanied  with puree currant, grapes, and apple slices. Both wine flights were amazing. 3 glasses, 2 oz of wine for ~$13 each. Bread basket was standard.

SERVICE: Our server was pretty nice. He made up some silly story about having to scan my ID since they were a "private club." SO SILLY because he only told me that and not the friend who accompanied me. But whatever, i realize i look like i'm still 16.

I think this is the perfect Crú location especially with its proximity to the Angelika theater in the Shops of Legacy.

I knew I was going to have a great brunch experience when I discovered the staff to be very welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating.

They have an amazing steak pizza.  It is decadent and delicious as its name portends.  Some of my dining companions opted for the Pear & Gorgonzola Pizza and they were very pleased with their orders as well.

The Latin wine flight that included two Malbecs from Argentina was a popular choice for our group of skating ladies. I think some of them wound up taking a wine bottle home with them;  it was that memorable.  And, the cheese flights proved just as enticing.  One is even aptly named sinful experience.

There was not one aspect of my dining experience that left me disappointed in the least.

They also have a great patio for people watching on a lovely weather day or cool evening.

Crú is a great choice for fine dining when you don't want to break the bank.

Wonderful stop in the Shops at Legacy.  Stopped in this last weekend and enjoyed flights of Pinot Noir and sparkling wines.  I think the prices are pretty competitive for flights compared to other wine bars I have visited.
The atmosphere is very cool and relaxing.  Found a spot on one of the couches in the lounge area.
The only downside was that they don't let you keep the cards with the information about the wines when you buy a flight- next time I will pay more attention and see if I can remember any of them.

I like this place. I've been a few times at night when it's a little more lively and around happy hour to enjoy the outdoor seating. The great thing about Cru is that you don't need to be an expert to enjoy the 20 or so flights they offer. They range somewhere between $12 - $20 for 3 flights of wine. Too bad they aren't a little more heavy handed with the pour if you know what I mean - but it's suppose to be a sample so I'm not complaining. I like that they bring out a little card with a description of the flights so you can test your knowledge of what you're suppose to be tasting.

Get the cheese plate to share, it's always a great assortment of delicious morsels to snack on and I like the jam they always put on there. The mussels are tasty too, comes in a pot with a big hunk of bread to dip in the juice. Drool. It's fun people watching on the patio if you get here early enough, it's always been effin crowded the past couple times I've been to Shops at Legacy.

so glad there is a Cru in Plano near my house!  Came here a few weeks ago on a Thursday with a friend and had a really nice time.

I had never been, but she had. we both love Malbec and decided on the romantic flight, which had a Sicilian, and 2 spanish, a tempranillo and a malbec.

They were great!! good size also, we ended up ordering another glass of our favorite.  And they bring out a piece of paper with the wine on it so you don't forget what you tried after returning the menu.

it was half price champagne bottles, just FYI, a lot of people seemed to take advantage of this.  we sat on the patio and caught up, but this would be great people watching, girls night out, special occasion (bridal shower etc) for girls, I think there are a few big rooms in the back.

Oh we also ordered the cheese/fruit plate that had this amazing blue cheese-ish one on there that was TO DIE FOR, but I can't remember the name and didn't see it on the online menu.  it also came with fresh honeycomb, which was out of this world. pears were delish also.

I will definitely be back and want to bring the fiance as well!

I've been wanting to go wine tasting and after reading about Cru on Yelp, I coaxed a friend to come with me on a nice Saturday afternoon to check it out. They had all the French doors open so it gave the restaurant an even more relaxing feel.. perfect for a Saturday afternoon!

The waitress was really nice and helpful.. she helped me decide on the Riesling wine flight and my friend got the Pinot Noir wine flight. Both flights were delicious and accompanied each other well. We also got the "Sinful Experience" cheese flight which featured a slice of  Humboldt Fog, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Robiola.. I definitely recommend!

The flights were all reasonably priced, a 2 oz sampling of three wines, all for $11-17 each flight. They offer about five red wine flights and five white wine flights. The cheese flights were all $15/each. I think they offer four different cheese flights.

This place is the perfect place to hang out with friends and sip some wine. I'll definitely be back to try out their other wine flights soon!

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to learn and try out wines during my visit with a group of friends on 2/27/10. I thought it would be overwhelming but it wasn't. The waiter was very accommodating. The flights were very well put together. Each wine in a flight had a distinct difference, so you get to taste a good range. Everyone at my table got a different flight.

The food was also delicious. I had and salmon and asparagus - yum! Be warned, the portions are smaller than at a typical restaurant. It worked for me, because I don't eat much, but the guys were still hungry afterwards.

The atmosphere was very nice and cozy on a cold night. It's a very social place, so it's great to bring small and large groups. The location is good because you can have a couple of drinks, go see a movie or go shopping to sober up.

Mrs. Bear says this is her fave wine bar, and I enjoy going there too.  We are BIG wine aficionados, to be sure, so this place was obviously a natural for us to visit.

The Shops at Legacy contain some really nice little restaurants and this place fits in well.  We like the atmosphere and the chatty waitstaff, and having the various wine flights is a very good way to educate yourself on the subject of wines.

We enjoy visiting this establishment and can recommend it highly for wine-o's like us!

I'm almost never up in this part of town, so when I was recently, and was looking for a place to hang out with my sister and brother-in-law, you Yelpers had recommended this one.

My first impression was that it was loud, crowded, and the tables were too close together. But we were seated immediately in a corner, and we could at least hear ourselves talk there. We each started with a flight. I went with the "Home Wreckin' Whites," which was quite impressive. Very different flavors between the wines (the first tasted a lot like champagne, the second very dry, and the third quite fruity and full bodied), but very complimentary. The others seemed to enjoy their flights as well.

We also had one of the cheese trays (the Great American, I believe) which was quite complimentary to the wines we ordered. I was also having a craving for mussels, so I had to get theirs! It was a huge order, with a very garlicky sauce. Awesome!

Service was pretty slow at times, but it *was* crowded, and it was a bit pricey for what you get. Still, I'd recommend it.

The wall of wine is awesome. It's like a built in bookshelf for wine bottles :)

We went here after dinner for more drinks :)  I actually did not partake in the wine, but the way they served it was awesome as 'flights' which were three glasses 1/3 full all that compliment each other.

My cousin had some awesome wines she had never had before.  The atmosphere was amazing and the servers all friendly and prompt.  Well worth a stop in if you're on your way to or from dinner.

To all of you writing negative things, WHATEVER. I used to go here every Sunday for the 1/3 off bottles. The wait staff does know me by name, and I think that's something to take note of. T.J. is the bartender, he's wonderful! There is a woman who greets you right at the door on the weekends, which makes you feel so very welcome! Also, on Thursdays there are 1/2 off all Champagne bottles.  They have a great cheese plate and from what I hear the fondue is to die for! It's a short walk home if you live in the Shops. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :-)

(T.J. if you read this Cheers to asparagus!)

I love wine bars and coffee shops, because I don't feel out of place enjoying some time out alone. I haven't found a good coffee shop near me I can call home yet (I'd love suggestions!) , but I often go to Cru to people-watch or casually read through some papers and escape the office.

The day was so beautiful yesterday that I decided to revisit Cru after a few months of neglecting the location. Historically, the staff has always been very warm to me, but I was astonished that after being absent for so long that they would not only remember me but also remember my name and tastes. This sort of personal touch never fails to make an impression with me.

The patio at Cru is the perfect location to observe the local menagerie, and the Shops at Legacy, in general, was vibrant with energy yesterday. Apparently when the weather is nice, live music plays right across the street Thursdays through Saturdays. It was a pleasure to listen to the group while drinking in the last rays of the setting sun along with my fragrant wine.

For times when I prefer companionship, I often have dinner at Jasper's and walk over to Cru to enjoy a glass of wine and their chocolate fondue to extend an enjoyable evening and conversation. Cru also serves dinner, but I'm not impressed enough with the cuisine to eat there as a destination.

So many others had such bad experiences, I felt I had to write something good!  I first got to know Cru at the McKinney (uptown) location.  I used to be a regular kind of Norm there I went so much!  The manager and the bartenders all knew me by name.  Is that sad or a good thing?? :-)

So, since I live in the burbs now, I was excited when they opened their Frisco location off Legacy and the Tollway.  I don't go as often as I used to, but I still drop by to meet friends for a few glasses around happy hour or before the movies or that kind of thing.  I usually sit at the bar.  If you sit at the bar, you WILL have a good time.  I've made several friends at that bar.

Compared to Mercy in Addison, I like this place much better.  Two reasons:  the prices and the people.  I like Mercy, don't get me wrong, but they are sooooo pricey -- c'mon $20+ a glass?? Jeez!  If you go to Cru, ask the bartender what he recommends.  Tell him the kind of wine you like (smooth cab, light finish, fruit-forward, etc.) and he will usually let you sample before you buy.  So you won't go wrong.  And unlike Mercy where even when you are sitting in front of them they don't pay attention to you, the bartenders at Cru will.

My recommendation though for food:  the cheese plates are good, the calamari is terrible....just terrible!

Sister establishment to the Cru Wine Bar on McKinney in Dallas. The layout is the same but the ambiance is a bit different, likey due to its proximity to the 'burbs.

Cru offers quite a few wines by the glass as well as wine flights for those of us that want to try a number of wines before settling on one. One word of caution for those that want to buy "retail" bottles from Cru (buy to collect or take home): prices seem to be high.

I had the Sexy Reds flight which was a bit unharmonious. The first two wines were big, rich zins while the third was a tempranillo that couldn't hold its own against the others. I was surprised at this since I have been to Cru a number of times and never encountered such a disparity in their selections.

The cheese selection was good although somewhat prosaic, probably given customer demand.
