This place is great! News flash: Wine can be fun.
Wine Cellar at Starwood hosted a private tasting for my group of friends, and we loved it. . We did not really know what to expect going in; our group included a mix of people who knew virtually nothing about wine, alongside a few folks who have a pretty good grasp on the subject. David led us through a "Wine 101" tasting, and did a really great job of adapting the information to what he inferred would be most useful/interesting to our group. I VERY MUCH appreciated that there was nothing pretentious or stuffy about this experience. It was informative and we tasted some fabulous wines, but at the same time, we had fun joking and chatting, and as David himself reminded us, "At the end of the day, it's alcohol". That being said, David's passion for the grape was highly apparent. He selected some really nice bottles for us to try, and made some great recommendations based on tastes/preferences we indicated as we completed our shopping at the end of the evening. I also love that this shop places an emphasis on low production wines- it really encourages one to branch out and try new things.
They apparently host complimentary tastings every Thursday evening- I haven't made it out for one of those yet, but I intend to. I loved this experience, and I will definitely be back!
Went to a private wine tasting hosted by the owner. Â He was very knowledgeable and gave very good and practical advice (since our group consisted of people who didn't know alot about wine). Â He also wasn't pretentious about it and was very personable. Â I like this place and would buy all my wine here if it was closer to where i live.
