Found myself here four days out of five during my visit in Lafayette. Â Wouldn't say their food is exactly earth-shatteringly memorable, though miles apart from the ex-con prepped rubbish they serve at Denny's and just slightly above Marie Calendars, and that's not saying much. Â Very amused by the rocking chair-lined porch and the attached Knotts Berry Farm-like store.
Review Source:Where have you been all my life Cracker Barrel? Yummy fluffy pancakes, great prices, and the coolest store ever!
I came here with a party of 9; some who were super excited to come here - and some who weren't. I was excited to try something new, and I loved the theme of this place. Chill, country, and family-style.
Breakfast was on the menu; as lunch does not start until 11. I went with the pancake meal which came with syrup in cute little individual bottles (one made it into my purse. . . shhhhh!). Tyler had biscuits and gravy, and the rest of the table had a plethora of hashbrowns, sausages, and grits.
Service was good - she handled our party of 9 well. Including a super cute but super picky little 2 year old and someone spilling ice tea everywhere.
The gift shop is another section by itself. They had the coolest halloween eyeball salt and pepper shakers. $1.29 each!! So cool! There was a variety of awesome knick-knacks that I didn't need but definitely  wanted and staff were informative and kind.
After many good visits here every time we head south on I-65, this stop was a bit disappointing. Â Aside from the usual heart-stopping food (that's a good thing), the service was sloppy this time - no one to seat us at 1 pm, until a waitress noticed us, and then somewhat sullen service. Â Not one of the best of the chain.
Review Source:Cracker Barrel was always my mom's favorite place to eat and many times I went here. I think the food at cracker barrel is very good. The sampler breakfast platter is a big meal with lots of meat, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and grits. I go mostly for their breakfast food but I will admit to liking their meat loaf dinner pretty well too. I don't see how the one reviewer can rate them as being "vegetarian unfriendly" They do not advertise being a vegetarian place. If they were I certainly wouldn't go there... vegetarians... LOL... I have probably ate at this location at least 50 times in my life and I am sure there will be a few more as well...
Review Source:I dropped by here for some Southern comfort food and was disappointed. Â I had one of their lunch specials for ~$8, so pretty reasonably priced. Â I had their meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, and biscuit. Â The food was decent but barely lukewarm when it was served to me. Â There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so they were definitely not too busy to make sure my food had at least the appearance of being fresh out of the oven. Â
The service was pretty good, though. Â My waitress gave me a cup of coffee to go, which was nice. Â
I like Cracker Barrel as a chain, but this particular site just doesn't cut it.
I heart Cracker Barrel, and there is something a little dead about you if you don't get a little excited at the sight of the country shack with rocking chairs lined up on the front stoop next to giant checkerboard tables.
Very pleased to hit this location in early November, in time to stock up on the recently displayed Christmas ornaments. Â Little sock monkeys at a bargain price, I love it!
Had some tasty country fried steak, with sides of carrots and steak fries. Â Delicious. Â The sweet tea was a regular tea with sugar added, so not the best. Â But the service was polite, of course, and with bellies full we headed back to I-65 with nary a trouble.
Have you ever been in a 4 car caravan with a bunch of hippies? Well, when one presents the group with the tantalizing experience of stopping for food somewhere between Noblesville Indiana, and East Troy Wisconsin, the whole group has a tendency to leap at the chance. Unfortunately what was suggested was Cracker Barrel. And when your protests are met with the flashing eyes and a growl of "It's good, home cookin', Lee-suh!" by a 4'9" spitfire--you tend to cave-quickly.
My past experiences of catching the early bird special with the grandfolk here has taught me that Cracker Barrel has no tolerance for vegetarians, must less a stinky 12 top loaded with 'em. It took them forever to seat us, this coming from a chain boasting that it welcomes YOUR busloads! The young waitstaff seemed ill-equipped/unwilling to accommodate our group. I would have been happy to split into smaller groups, so our freak-fest entourage would have seemed more manageable, but aforementioned spitfire was all into the idea of a communal meal.
After being seated and subsequently avoided for quite some time, I was able to narrow my food choices down to mashed potatoes and a side of corn. While in Rome.....
I also thought it would be a meal that could easily camouflage the spit that would most certainly be seasoning our dishes. Ignorance is bliss.
My food was passable I was in dire need of something that wasn't Jameson or special kool-aid, but wholly unfulfilling as I only ordered two side dishes. I ended up buying a crap ton of candy at the Cracker Barrel Store to round of my experiment in eating garbage on the road. Candy at the Cracker Barrel store is the bees knees.
Prices high, selection lacking, and service sucking--it is safe to say that I HATE Cracker Barrel. As an added bonus and for your TMI enjoyment- I will add that I was in the bathroom before even leaving, and had to make several stops en route to destination Wisconsin. And next time I'm bullied into eating slop by a pipsqueak (she is actually a dear friend, but still...) I will remember that I am over a foot taller and a person heavier, and take her on down.
We visited this Cracker Barrel on the way to a convention in Indianapolis. It was very easy to get off I-65 and get back on from this restaurant.
Food was great. Loved the new Strawberry Shortcake, and I had the sampler. Meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, and ham. It was the best combination plate I have had.
Staff was great, fast service and very attentive.
