Gross. Gross. Gross.
Stopped at this place on the way back from a work meeting in Chitown. I ordered wings and a burger. Two of the safest items ever. The wings were Ponderosa Buffet style drizzled in hot sauce. The burger that I ordered Med/Well was burnt/dry and gross. The "fresh cut" fries were not fresh cut fries as advertised. Oh, these items were also recommended by the hostess and waiter. I was pissed I spent an hour of my time at this place, I would have done better next door at McDonalds. ...I rarely eat fast food.
I ended up coming here for second lunch and some brews while hanging out in Michigan City. Â FINALLY. Â Here's the deal-
The good: Â
1. Â Great Lakes and Round Barn micro brew bottles for $3.50! Â I think there was 4 of each. Â Not bad, Crawford's, not bad.
2. Â If you sit to the right of the bar, there are 4 huge projection screens for those of you who would rather watch TV than talk to your significant other. Â SCORE! Â
3. Â SCOTCH EGGS! Â And they are really good. Â So is the horsey sauce that comes with it. Â (And unrelated but still really good was their bleu cheese dressing.)
4. Â Service was good even though our poor server also had the table from Hell across from us. Â I was impressed.
The bad:
1. Â The food is just OKAY. Â I got the appetizer sampler and it had a delicious scotch egg, some wings (eh.), and thick-cut pub chips with melted shredded cheese and spicy brown gravy (was hoping for more of a poutine-ish dish but rather got potatoes with some melted cheese and coagulated gravy on the side. Â Bah.) Â The menu is also really small and very Irish fare heavy. Â Cool if you're in to that kind of thing, but my husband had a hard time finding something he might like. Â
The ugly: Â
1. Â The restaurant is in a hotel and therefore reeks of chlorine from the indoor pool. Â You also have to use the lobby restroom because the restaurant doesn't have one of its own. Â Not a major issue, but kind of annoying.
