This place is good for swinging by on a road trip to grab a quick bite--it's take out, so you order, they go back and grab the food (2-4 minutes wait) and give it to you in a styrofoam box. We got the pulled pork sandwiches, which came with chips and a pickle for $6. Ate it in about 10 seconds. You get your choice of sauce, as well.

This place is not a place to go for a quiet, formal lunch, a date you're trying to impress, a picky eater with no sense of adventure, or for a ton of indoor seating (or, apparently, public restrooms). If you need to use the potty, there is a gas station across the street. If you lack a sense of adventure, I'm sure there's a McDonald's somewhere not too far away.

For those who want to experience some authentic, fun roadside cuisine and get in and out quickly, this place is perfect. If I were driving through this part of VA again, I would definitely stop and try something else here.

Three star review for BBQ.  Here's my blow by blow:
Ordered the crazy platter (or something like that) with two meats, two sides.  Meats:  Ribs and Chicken.  The ribs were just okay; they were a little dry, but I attribute that to them being in the warmer all day (I got there around 5 pm).  With the addition of their "house" sauce the ribs were all right.  But they shouldn't have required sauce in my opinion. The chicken was FANTASTIC.  Moist, well seasoned, good flavor.  Really realy good.  I used the "sweet" sauce with the chicken which was a nice combo.  Sides:  Beans and Potato Salad.  Beans were not that great.  More like mush.  The potato salad was pretty good.  Chunky, not just whipped potato.  Lots of good flavors going on there.
For the price, and considering I got two meals out of it, it was pretty good.  Would I go back?  Yes, I'll go back at least three more times.  Once to try some of their seafood items and at least one more shot at the ribs (I wouldn't write any place off after just one visit unless it was totally horrible).  And another trip to check the brisket.

Unfortunately, this review starts with the words "I wanted to like it".

I wanted to like it, really I did.  I love finding those little-known, out of the way places (read: non chain!) that make eating on the road a special event.  As much as I wanted it, didn't happen here for the most part.

Our order consisted of a half-chicken, 6" pork sandwich and potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw sides. For all that, the bill was about 22 dollars so the price was certainly reasonable if it had all been good.

The chicken was very moist and enjoyable.  Sandwich not so much. The hot sauce given with it was basically straight up Franks Red Hot and I would have preferred something with a little more depth. We both liked the baked beans and potato salad (reminded me of my mom's).  Coleslaw was vinegar-based and had about twice as much celery seed than it really needed.

Be forewarned:  This place is licensed as a carryout in the state of Virginia and as such does not need to provide restrooms for patrons.  Even though they do have outside seating.

The chicken and sausage gumbo is good. I had the red beans and rice and did not really care for them. The potato salad was pretty good as well. Yes I would eat there again but not often.

If you pass by a restaurant that has a large pig out front and a pig on top of the sign, you want to stop there for lunch or dinner. This is code for the food will be good. We have the crazy platter for two but there was so much food that the platter should be renamed the crazy platter for 3 or 4. The dirty rice is the real deal not just that Zatran box stuff. The hushpuppies were to die for and I did not want to share but since I'm a nice person I let my husband have one. We also had their baked beans which were good. The ribs were great and the chopped BBQ had just enough bite. But it was the chicken that was the star of show! It was some of the best hickory smoked chicken I have ever put in my mouth. Even though my husband and I have been known to travel up to an hour for really good food, I am excited this we will only have to drive about 35 minutes to get my smoked chicken fix.

The pork ribs were delicious.  The North Carolina-style chipped pork was just-ok (although I do not prefer this clear bbq sauce).  The baked beans were good, and hush puppies were very good.  We also tried the fried shrimp po' boy, and had mixed opinions.  Sweet tea is delicious but had too much ice and not enough tea.

There is a pig sign out front.  Always winning!

This place is worth going out of your way to visit if you're in the general area.

This place was formerly Crazy Ray's before being dubbed Crazy Cajun.  But I don't think this new incarnation will last very long since the restaurant is currently up for sale.  Yes, that "cow-pig" out front can be yours for $150,000.

Cajun is bit of a misnomer though, as the menu largely consists of American fare and BBQ.  But I did see po' boys on the menu.  The point is moot though, since I was interested in the BBQ.  I opted for a pork BBQ sandwich and an order of hushpuppies.

The BBQ sandwich was just okay.  The bun was not substantial enough to hold up to the generous heaping of pork and sauce.  The pork was a bit chewier than I would have liked.  Also, the sauce, I chose the hot sauce, only had one note -- Tabasco.  The sandwich was served with a bag of Utz chips and a pickle.  Now the hushpuppies on the other hand, were fantastic!  I highly recommend these delicious delights!
