First time I checked out Cronies for my birthday last night and I was a little hesitant because it's a little drive on the freeway to Ventura but it was completely worth it!

It's a casual environment where people come here with friends, families and even bring their kids lol Lots of tables and chairs are available set up communal seating style but their tables and chairs can be rearranged if you don't wanna sit next to random people.

I ordered a Blue Moon in a holy looking goblet for ~$6 and it was refreshing. After I had finished that one casually, I was brought another cold goblet of Blue Moon but since it was my birthday, I had to chug it all faster than everyone singing happy birthday to me LOL I was only able to drink half of it but they still hooked it up regardless :)

The servers were also helpful to cut the birthday cake my friend gave me and provided plates, forks and napkins. A big thanks to those ladies at Cronies for singing happy birthday on my birthday (even though they pronounced my name wrong lol) and for meeting awesome patrons in the parking lot who gave me a free bottled Coors Light :D

I am a HUGE sport's fanatic; football, baseball, basketball!!!  YES, I would make a lousy husband.  I am not much into bar food, but do love their "frosty" light beers.  Yet, the very best this place has to offer is the service!!!  From the owner on down, you will not find sweeter hospitality.  Brandi and Jimmy are my favorites, yet everyone working there is always upbeat. If they are super slow at the time or super busy and running around like crazy, you will always get a smile.  That alone is worth the trip and a BIG TIP!!!

20 oz. beers are awesome but the food is not good. The French dip sandwich was the worst ever, as was the potato salad. I would try a burger if I ever return.

Went here the other day with my friend to have one of their large beers. The place is a sports bar that was decorated by guys with sports memorabilia that wives wouldn't refuse to put up in their homes while doing that Tim Allen "argh argh" manly call from Home Improvement. I went for a late lunch (3-4PM) and only ordered their spicy chicken wings and an order of their chili fries. Although the chicken wings were spicy they weren't amazing and their chili fries were unexceptional, but still good. Obviously their bread n' butter is the combination of large beers served in a large cold cup (dee best!!) and the abundance of large screen TV's displaying whatever sports event is on. Since I went during the week before any good games started, we were watching golf... yeah... golf! I'm drinking a large beer eating chicken wings... not a gin and tonic eating... well... whatever gold enthusiasts eat... Anyway, I have gone during Sundays and it is a great place to be watch some NFL, but get there early because it does get packed.

Overall, the service is great because the waitresses are skilled in getting multiple orders correctly while maintaining a positive attitude. The food wasn't to call momma about, but that's because I am basing it on my last experience. I will be returning to try a hamburger. My friend ordered the mozzarella sticks and they were run-of-the-mill. The atmosphere-again, based on my last experience-was comfortable but on Sundays it does get loud. Let see how the next visit goes. Stay tuned.

Super friendly ladies and service is only quick, though it may have something to do with the fact I was with a group of Thursday night regulars.

Giant beers in yummy frosted glasses.

The food is mediocre, I always stuck with pastrami sandwich, love their horseradish, I swear it will clear every single sinus passage way you have and then the ones you weren't even aware of. Sidebar note: I had ordered the grilled chicken Cesar salad on a previous visit, not my favorite by any means, call me picky but they gave me very warm chicken straight off the grill I'm assuming and I'm not a fan of such heat placed on my bed of greens.

Nonetheless miss my Thursday night Cronies!

Cronies has the best smokin cold schooners of beer around, and so many different varieties.  Being a sports bar it offers appetizers, salads, and sandwiches.  My favorite is anything with thirsty sauce.  The wings, the thirsty chicken sandwich, or the blackened chicken salad with some thirsty sauce to drizzle on top.  You can ask them to add the thirsty sauce to anything you order.  Anything served on their deli style rolls is better than on regular bread.  If you are looking for a great place for a beer and a great sandwich stop by Cronies.

Great food, giant beers, lots of sports, and a great family atmosphere.. just about the best place to watch the superbowl in town!

Chuck and Dave are great, and make you feel right at home.

I love that Cronies is across the street from the movie theater, makes it easy to eat dinner as a family, and hang out before everyone does their own thing for the night.

Cronies has a couple of big things going for it: ginormous glass goblets dripping with frost and served with your favorite frothy beverage inside. This is huge draw--as is being able to get Stella Artois and Guinness on tap--and especially a black-and-tan of the two mixed together. Another irresistible draw is that you can get the same thing, not for $6 but for $1.25 if you order before 6PM Monday thru Thursday.

Cronies has a few things that might drive you bonkers. Cheesy atmosphere (ok, not sure if that matters or not--it IS a sports bar, after all), lousy or at best, spotty service (our server argued with us when we placed our order for Happy Hour at 6PM--and that was after waiting 10 minutes to be noticed for the service), and inconsistent food. My husband's pastrami on rye sandwich was juicy and tasted right. The sweet potato fries are perfectly yummy. But DON'T order the turkey burger. It's a shameful pre-frozen, preformed, prefab, processed burger that tastes like it came from those aisles of packaged food in the grocery store that all foodies skip. The salad that came with it was plentiful, though.

So here's how to deal with Cronies. Get there and get in your frothy grown-up beverage order WELL BEFORE 6PM. Order something that's hard to mess up, like a pastrami sandwich or a beef burger, and you'll probably be sporting a good attitude about the whole thing.

This place rocks!! Went for food and Sunday football. At first it was sensory overload but we all enjoyed watching all the games on all the televisions while eating reasonably healthy bar food. Wait staff was great and the crowd did not disappoint...great mix of people and people watchi g opportunities! However, someone felt it was appropriate to bring a newborn...and it was not.

Don't give an F about anything else but their HIGH PROTEIN SALAD.

    I AM SO F%#CKING OBSESSED.

It's so good. You will be craving it. I need it, right now. Omg I'm going right now.

It normally comes with tuna, but I get it with chicken.

People need to udnerstand this is a sports bar, not a crazy fine dining establishment. With that being said, the food is always pretty tasty whenever i go and comes out consistent and fast. I usually get Jesse as my server and she is absolutely wonderful! Just went there on Thursday after work to watch the first game of football seasonand even with the amount of people she had to serve, she did a great attentive job.

Went here with my man Friday nite to watch the Laker game, have been here many times over the past 10 years but first time to review.  So this place is never my number one choice to go, there are far better venues to watch sports and eat crappy (ie bad for you) food, lol but this is where my date wanted to go...So the place was packed when we got there but we found two seats at the bar, service is fine; the girls were efficient at getting us the fresh frosty cold schooners, me modelo, him newcastle.  I had the club sandwich it was mediocre in quality but what did I expect, I probably should have gotten the hot wings and I would have been a lot happier!   My date got the large Budwich sandwich, looked like it had everything but the kitchen sink and was dripping all over his shirt...ha.  So all in all I don't recommend this place but have to admit I am sure I will be back.

I have been going to this place from the year that it opened. It is a great place to get a cold beer at a good price. The food is great and priced well. The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly. Try the mini corn dogs and the fries are great.

Cronies Sports Grill is my favorite place to watch a sporting event in Ventura.  I should correct that...it's my favorite place to watch football !

I haven't been here in a while, since the end of football season (last year) but it's a comfort to know that it's the same old place.

One of my favorite appetizers is the chicken strips ift comes with buffalo wing sauce as well as ranch.  Additionally, I love their burgers.

Also, they have a large selection of beer on tap(over 10). You'd be hard pressed to find a better selection in Ventura.

They are no booths but instead they have tables that can be moved round to accommodate large groups.  The space is dominated by the 2 giant screen TV's and at least 12 flat screens.

Additionally, there is wall to wall memorabilia of high school as well as pro stars.  The crowd is into their teams and openly cheers for them.  It's a fun and lively place!

The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

I have so many more reasons to like Cronies, I could go on and on... this will definitely be my place to follow my favorite pro and college team this season.

If you like sports, cold beer, loud people and fun times this is the place for you.

The location is right off the 101 at Johnson in Ventura...a really easy place to get to.

This place is much more fun than other sports bars I have been to. They have plenty of seating and lots of TVs with different sporting events on them...so there is a good chance whatever you want to see is probably on TV when you get there.

We actually ordered up at the counter and let the girl working know where we were sitting, and that worked out just great.  When she came over and brought us our food she actually offered to start us a tab for everything.  All the workers were totally helpful and friendly and we were there at a REALLY busy time...it was almost impossible for them to walk through without someone who was drunk running into them.  The true test of a wait staff isnt when its slow...its when its completely packed, and they did a great job.

The mozzarella sticks were totally amazing.  I would go back just for those.

Typical sports bar with typical bar food.  But they do have good beers and is a good place for parties/big groups.  If you're there for a birthday party, they have a special glass for the birthday person.

So if you're hankering for some alcohol, then the food they serve will also suit you.

Basic Sports bar fare with a decent selection of beer.   The staff were quick to take our orders and refill our glasses.  As for the food,  I was only having beer that night so I can't really say anything about the food.  Would I go there again, probably not.

My quest to find a sports bar to match Cronies continues. If I ever get the opportunity to open my own sports bar Cronie's would be my model. Ice cold 20oz schooners of tap, good-looking waitresses and decent food!

Cronies is the best place in Ventura go for a delicious, stacked-high with tasty bacon, BLT with their yummy curly fries and a huge frosty schooner of beer.

Everything I have eaten at Cronies has been delicious. Sandwiches, fries, finger-foods... I love it!

I'm gonna have to bump these guys up to five stars because any place that I can spend more ten minutes in WITH a massive hangover WITHOUT wanting to blow away myself or the other patrons with a 10-gauge shotgun is definitely a winner.

Hair of the dog? No, thank you. My hangover cure is something (anything) greasy with a tall Mountain Dew. While Jonny ordered up an ice-cold schooner of Stella, I scoured the menu for my perfect pick. We ended up with an order of mozzarella sticks (surprisingly not that greasy but equally effective in banishing my migraine-nausea-combo), a Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich and a Club Sandwich.

It was a sort of free-for-all, sharing everything from the soda and the sticks to the Stella and the sandwiches. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was goo-ooo-oood. What we didn't finish, we took home for dinner.

This trip left me wondering why I initially only wanted to give them three stars! I think this is why-- the first time around, there was a huge game on TV so it was loud, loud, LOUD. This time, there was nothing special going on sports-wise so it was only loud, loud instead of loud, loud, LOUD. Also-- I felt like we waited so long for service last time and when it did come, we felt rushed. This time around, we sat at the bar instead of at the long family-style tables and got much more attention from the staff.

Five-star worthiness was sealed when our server flashed a genuine smile before we left and told me, "Have a great day! Hope you feel better." Apparently it was no secret that I was still feeling (heavily) the effects of the previous night's boozing. Uh-oh, Fresh Burrito! You've got some Saturday morning competition and it's just one door over...

Went in after delighting in a matinee viewing of "I Love You, Man." Had loads of Stella Artois--they come out in deliciously frosty schooners. Ordered the wings, which were good but overwhelmed me with a tinge of sesame oil-who puts that in sauce for chicken wings? Rest of the menu looks like solid standard bar fare. Place was casual and very sporty spice. One waitress did the rounds during lunchtime--cute and friendly gal with very long legs. I dig the employee outfits: black T, black shorts, black cap.

A sports bar that has vast array of different sandwiches.
I usually get the food to go since I work close by. I have been eating here for over 10 years.
Good selection of sandwiched including some out of the ordinary. My favorite is the Thirsty Turkey which is spicy wing sauce mixed In a turkey sandwich.
I had most of the sandwich's on the menu and there are good.
I personally never had one, but my co worker always orders big daddy burger--it is sure something to see and I'm always amazed that he finishes it.
Good french fries and onion rings.
The times I ate there, they always have numerous TVs , with all the games on.
    Good service.

Ok.  I would never have chosen this joint on my own.  Not my kinda place.  But I went with some co-workers.  I should probably give them 3 starts except I don't want to.  The food was so so.  Not that exciting.  There's an extensive menu but I'm not sure why.  Its basically the same 10 items cooked 30 different ways.  I had blackened chicken tacos.  My taco had melted PROVOLONE cheese on it!  PROVOLONE!  What are we Mexican Italians?  The flavor was good but I couldn't get past the cheese.

From the look of the place I have a feeling people don't really go there for the food.  There's a good 15 tv's in that joint and a shyt load of beer.  It was 12:45p and this chick was sucking on a Corona like it was a..... well u get the idea.

My usual - formerly reliable - source for free NASCAR tickets didn't come through this weekend, so Deb & I opted for a trip to Cronie's Sports Grill to watch the race, eat some massive burgers, and, of course, toss back their oversized 20 oz. glasses of beer.

As with the missing tickets, The Plan continued to spiral out of control as rainy weather lurked over the California Motor Speedway delaying** the race. In the meantime, we had no choice but to do the right thing and order our fill of beer & burgers.

Deb ordered the Little Daddy & I ordered the Big Daddy burger. I'll review the Big Daddy since they were identical with one exception - mine included an extra 1/3 lb. burger for a mere $1 more. The construction of my Big Daddy burger included: 2 - 1/3 lb. grilled burgers, cheese, a hefty serving of pastrami & bacon, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, diced deli pickles, plus a healthy (hefty) serving of lightly seasoned curly fries. I took a photo for those Yelp burger maniacs out there***.

    Our final tab:

    - Taquitos appetizer  $5.79
    - Little Daddy              $7.49
    - Big Daddy                 $8.49
    - Guinness (x1)          $5.36
    - Bud Lite (x2)             $4.43

    Additional comments:

    - The staff is very nice, welcoming, & efficient.
    - They have about a dozen or so TV's of varying sizes.
    - it's virtually impossible to hear your preferred sporting event.
    - It's impossible to hear yourself think during the NFL season.
    - I'm a frequent visitor during the NFL season - I don't want to hear ME.

In the words of a wise penguin, "It is what it is."

"It" being Cronies, and Cronies is a sports bar, and a sports bar it is indeed.

This place pretty much has everything a sports bar needs: a TV (or one of their two big screens) each with their own receiver practically every 5 ft. from each other to make sure every game possible is on, sports memorabilia taking up every inch of wall space, arcade games in the back for the kids (young and old), and the main seating area is lined up with tables to give it a more communal, friendly atmosphere. Did I also mention the 20oz. frosted schooners they have to serve one of their many beers on tap? Oh yes. Even the biggest men can't handle their schooner without spilling.

The place can get pretty packed and loud, especially when "the game" is on, and you'll be greeted with a cheer or a groan every now and then depending on how someone's team is doing. You'll also be assailed with the screams of children, because there are plenty of those around as well, and this place is child friendly.

Also child friendly is the menu with your basic, greasy all-American pastime food: Chili dogs, fries, strips, and they even have a special microwave devoted to popping popcorn. They also have salads as well, and it seems many people order them...I witnessed even the manliest men have a giant salad in front of them. As for me? I tried their chicken wings with their famous thirsty buffalo sauce. These wings are prepared "naked" (not battered) and the sauce is definitely tasty. I also tried their famous seasoned curly fries, but I didn't find them to be seasoned enough, which was something of a letdown. Across the table from me was a GIANT chili cheese dog, and my, that was pretty good. Wash it down with an ice cold beer and you're good to go for the game.

Service is friendly but not always around when you need them. What's interesting is that they sell ceiling space for blown up business cards; $15/month gets you a ceiling panel. But who looks up at the ceiling to begin with? I do, I guess, and it seems others do as well.

Although I'm not going to want to come here solely based on the food, if there's a game on that I actually care about and I'm hungry for some greasy food, I'm sure that this place is high on the list of places to go.

A locals sports bar.  Expect to see lots of kids, an lots of people who all know one another.  Middle aged jeans/shorts/t-shirt crowd mostly.  The beers are served in a 20 oz frosted brandy snifter, which keeps it nice and cold.  I could do with out all the frozen beer that tends to drip down the sides.  Decent selection of beers with your typical sports bar foods.  The Big Daddy is a double cheese burger with bacon AND pastrami.  Ouch.  Tons of TVs including three HDs.  Always willing to show your game, and has all the sports packages, so if it is on anywhere you can usually find it here (except Raiders and Cowboys games which they have banned).  Wood stylings, communal tables, a bar, and video games.  Oh, and you chug a free beer on your birthday while everyone sings.  Service is hit ot miss, as are the managers.
