My wife and I were passing through on our way to Tahoe and this place looked exactly like what we needed, and boy did they deliver.
First, their chai is one of the best I've had in a long time. Â It was just the right temperature and full of flavor.
We got the poppy seed scone which was very good. Â When we first arrived there was a couple who strongly suggested getting the sweet potato frittata, so we did. Â It was quite interesting, with little cubes of sweet potato throughout. Â
What really made it for me was their home made hot sauce. Â They had two of them and were really good. Â I tried to figure out how they made it but the waitress wasn't giving up any secrets. Â
One of the walls was covered with wines and books. Â One book shelf was labeled something like "free library". Â
If we lived near Placerville I know we would go there all the time.
The only coffee that I am a fan of is basic classic simple medium roast with out the strong bitter after taste. Cuppa Coffee & More brings a real good taste of home to me which makes that one great cup of coffee! (or two) Yes they do have the other coffee's too, but you would have to ask someone else.
Food, prior to today, I have only had their Spinach Quiche because, it is so good it is what I always look forward to. But today I stopped in for a late lunch and they had sold out of the Spinach Quiche. Being a Chili & Corn Bread lover I decided to try the chili. It was very good and I agree with one of the previous posts, the mild & hot sauces homemade in the shop are really good!
So, with what I have experienced ... and great customer service ... 5 stars easy.
Usually when I pass through Placerville, I've just about hit my limit of road time without coffee. Â And, since Placerville is such a quaint and unique town, I love to stop here to quench my need of a pick-me-up. Â I live hours away, yet I still seem to be somewhat of a local fan of Cozmic Coffee. Â However, I decided that it was time to try something new in Placerville. Â I searched on my Yelp ap to find another coffee shop on the main drag of town. Â
Cuppa Coffee has GREAT reviews and 5 stars! Â I was impressed, and I knew that my curiosity would get the best of me. I HAD to try this place.
I have to admit, though, that I was not impressed when I walking inside. Â The place was small and empty. Â Sometimes you just have to trust the locals. Â I have had some of the best coffee in hole-in-the-wall diners. Â I was solely seeking coffee, and I realized that most of the reviews are for food, for the quiet environment, or for the cheap price of coffee on weekdays- $1.00. Â If you're looking for a quiet spot to get some work done, this is your place. Â They have Wi-Fi, food, coffee, tea, etc. Â
If you're just looking for a delicious, energizing cup of coffee, you may want to go somewhere else. Â In my opinion, the coffee had an odd, almost-tart taste and was pretty weak.
The lady who took my order was welcoming and helpful--offering suggestions to me and my friends about food and places to shop around town. Â I was just not a big fan of the coffee.
My husband and I ended up here because we were swinging by Red Hawk Casino and wanted to look for for a nice place to have some coffee together. We looked for coffee places in the vicinity, and thank GPS, it led us here.
It's a tiny place that's easy to pass up, but we parked a little bit of a way down the street and took a nice stroll. It's a very simple, homey cafe, with a raised seating area towards the back with bigger tables. I had some of my nursing textbooks with me, and it was comfortable enough to sit there with my chai and study.
The drinks were so well made, I almost can't imagine myself ever going to a Starbucks again. If you're having your drinks there, you get the mug and a saucer, the whole shebang. I also had a slice of ham and cheese quiche. It was a little pricey, $4.50 for a slice, but it was good quality, and the hot and mild sauces they provide when you order it are delicious, so I won't hold it against them.
I'm in love with the fact that they make things themselves, and actually take the time to make quality drinks. It's a bit out of the way so I can't make it a daily haunt, but anytime I'm in the area I will most definitely be back.
Best cuppa coffee in Placerville!
The staff is friendly, the price is right, the shop is clean.
The quiche and frittatas are tasty, the carmalitas WOW, the pasties are made from scratch and OH MY! There is a reason they sell out as soon as they are made!
Nice touch that they cater (I've used them and Chef Melissa is amazing) and sell local wine as well.
I LOVE Cuppa Coffee. Â Before 9 AM on weekdays their coffee is only $1.00! Â not only is the coffee great quality, the snacks are amazing. Â Today I tried the pumpkin coffee-cake, which is made in-house. Â It is the moistest, richest coffee cake I've ever had. Â Simply amazing and delicious. Â
The decor in this shop is clean, comfy, and the employees are super-friendly. Â Just remember they now do not accept debit/credit for purchases under $5 so bring cash if you're just grabbing coffee.
I was looking for a nice, quiet coffee shop to get some work done while on a Sierras camping trip. I found the perfect place at Cuppa Coffee Shop. Great staff, nice music playing from Pandora radio, free wifi, and a nice little breakfast greeted me as I hunkered down for 4 hours before heading back to the hills. Thanks for the hospitality, Jill!
Review Source:Ahhh I love me small town coffee shops. Â I will always take a chance on one over Starbuck's or big box coffee.
Cupa did not disappoint. Â Lovely selection of coffee and teas. Very clean and great customer service.
I had:
~Fresh brewed ice tea. Â Came with a slice of orange and free refills
~Chili and cornbread. Â For $4.95 you can't beat it. Â The chili was homeade and chock full of beef and onions. Â Crumble the cornbread into it, pure heaven. Â I had two meals out of this
~My parter had the breakfast pocket, it was flaky and full of sausage, cheese and eggs.
They had a lot of delicious looking bakery items, I will come back the next time I am in town.
This Main St. site has played host to a number of coffee/bakery places over the years...I almost wonder if there's some kind of curse on it. Hopefully it's been broken by this newest occupant because the owners have made it a really pleasant place to enjoy a cup of coffee...or even a beer or glass of wine...and more. Service is friendly, the baked goods are awesome and they've done a lot to brighten the place up and make it inviting.
Review Source:Stopped by this place on the way along Hwy 50. Â
I'll keep this short. Â The "ice" in the iced coffee is actually made of frozen coffee!
That should be all you need to know. Â
Phenomenal quality from top to bottom. Â Only had a chance to try one two pastries, but also top notch.
Have been to two of the other coffee shops in Placerville, but this is the one you should try first. Â It's easy to miss, even though it's on the main street, but it's completely worth it.
Just stopped in for some refreshments today. Â Wow. Â So clean, friendly and courteous! Â Getting iced coffee with coffee ice cubes was really nice. Â Didn't feel like eating when we were there, but the baked goods looked great. Â The samples out were quite tasty! Â :) Â Don't get to Placerville too often, but will definitely go back!
