Had a bizarre experience in here on Sunday night. First of all, I need to compliment our server, Olivia, for being prompt and friendly.
It was a VERY slow night and extremely hot. This explained the fact that the outside was empty and all of the wait staff were hanging out around the bar.
They were feeding the jukebox and playing very very loud, horrible dance music that reminded me of a strip joint. When I mentioned the fact that this music was not at all Irish or Sports bar stuff I got laughed at. Truly bizarre, I could not relax with ghetto music blaring in my ear........sorry. Someone did finally turn it down, but it was still above conversation level. Can't imagine watching a game here.
The food was ok and they accepted my groupon, but it was very expensive........they were charging us more than $7.00 for draft beer!!!!
I would not go back, even with a groupon. They need to hire at least one person over 21 with some common sense.
Quick review- Stopped by for a couple drinks and my buddy wanted a quick bite to eat. The outdoor area is ok, nothing special. There are 8 TVs behind the bar and the bartender/waitress was very nice and attentive. The place is very casual, almost has the feel of a beach bar patio. His food took awhile and he seemed pleased with it. Some of the waitresses are very attractive and wearing very small outfits so it's got that going for them.
Review Source:The bar itself wasn't really anything special, but the cocktails are the size of your face. Â Everyone in my group was ragging on me for just getting water. Â Sorry guys, that's not water ... that a gin and tonic served in a pint glass. Â When the bartender handed it to me, I half expected it to taste like a glass of tonic water with essence of gin, but that wasn't the case. Â The ingredients in the drink were actually balanced quite well. Â In the end, two beers, two mixed drinks, and one scotch came out to about $35 before tip. Â Not too terrible in my opinion.
Review Source:"I'm Dehydrating Here!"
by Josh K.
No tap water offered at the bar??? Really???
Even after you ordered multiple mixed drinks at 8.50 a pop and just need something to rehydrate?
Bartender: Â "We only serve bottled water for 3 dollars"
Are you ****ing kidding me!
Better get that policy changed.
Dango's is a welcome addition to the Caroline St. repertoire. Â For the sports enthusiast, flat screen TV's are located in each booth. Â For the gawkers, the female wait staff is scantily clad. Â For the dancer, the live music out on the patio is a blast.
The drinks? Â Not cheap. Â A house chardonnay will set you back $7.50. Â It's not that I'm cheap. Â I expect to pay that at one of the more upscale places in town, but not an Irish sports bar. Â This cost keeps me from wanting to spend too much of my Saturday night here.
The wings? Â I wish it were Tuesday! Â Every Tuesday night Dango's offers 5 cent wings. Â In a variety of flavors. Â Try the spcy BBQ you won't be disappointed. Â They're saucy and I like that. Â And cheap which is even more awesome. Â But what goes great with drinking and hot wings? Â WATER. Â Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't water come out of a tap? Â Dango's doesn't allow this. Â At least not on wing night. Â Thirsty? Â Trying to stay hydrated while you consume their alcohol? Â You only have 2 options... 3 if you want to stay thirsty with a burning mouth. Â A $3 seltzer water... or bottled water. Â I have never been any place in my life that did not offer free water. Â SPAC offers free water and that place robs you of every dime you have! Â I'm sure glad I wasn't there as the designated driver. Â It's pure principle that stops me from buying water there. Â And perhaps its minor to some but it prevents me from rating this higher than I'd like to.
Positive? Â Huge patio, an upper, covered bar, and a lower bar down near the dance floor. Â Great live music provides a fun opportunity to dance without having to go to a sleazy club. Food-wise I can only comment on the wings but the pizza's look fantastic and I've heard nothing but great things. Â Just don't let the title of "Steak house" fool you... they have steak sure, but this is pub food. Â Great pub food.
I had been enjoying Dangos, and met a buddy there on Wednesday. We had a couple cocktails and got chatting with this woman that was next to us.
When it was tome to go and I asked for the bill, the bartender decided that I would be paying the entire tab of the girl we were talking to regardless of the fact that she was clearly there on her own and ordered before we were talking.
I Â also are found out they are charging track prices as a johny walker red and soda was $11.50! I honestly think she just made up a price because it's never been that before.
I brought this up with the bartender and she seemed visibly shaken that I would call her out. I had cash out every time I ordered but they seemed insistent that I have a tab going and now I see why. I imagine they think everybody during track season doesn't care what or who they pay for.
I told the woman we were taking to I was not paying for her drinks and she should pay herself but she seemed unconcerned and left. Looking back the whole thing was shady.
