We visited Das Boot Camp and I was pleasantly surprised at the food. It has been by far the best German Food I've gotten in this part of the U.S. We had the Jagerschnitzle and spatzel and it was very good. I will definitely add this place to our must visit when we're in town list.

Although my name screams German, I have never actually experience German food!

    This was some tasty food.

Between our table of 8 we had a sampling of the menu from the bread basket, the rotisserie chicken salad, to the mouth watering I-wish-I-lived-closer-so-I-have-this-for-dinner Jager Schnitzel. Seriously, I don't even like mushrooms and I was all over this based off my fellow diner's recommendations. It did not disappoint between the mushroom-bacon cream gravy, the hand breaded pork loin, and the homemade noodles. I also had a small bite of the breads from the bread basket and they were delicious as well.

Oddly only 2 people in the party partook in the boots of beer! They definitely enjoyed them though from what I heard. I also liked that they were the light covers throughout the restaurant. The layout was nice, bathrooms were clean, but I probably wouldn't have nascar on the TVs.

Service was excellent in the sense that I almost didn't notice he was there. The server was so proficient at everything, we had no need to ask for anything!

Great place!  My family and I are regular customers at the parent restaurant Royal Bavaria.  Das Boot camp is a great addition.  I had the Snitzel sandwich which was very good.  My wife and daughter had the Roasted Chicken which then enjoyed as well.  Liked the atmosphere, food, service, and hand crafted beer!  Will make it a regular stop.

Hmm.What to say. Beer is an A and Food is a rock solid B+. But get this: Guess how much a liter of BEER is - Like $10! A BEER for $10? whoa - am I at a OKC Thunder Game - or a Mavericks game - or even worse, A COWBOYS game in Dallas? What a rip. You know what the cost of ingredients are to make beer? Even less than coffee! Les than a dollar a pop, OK? And NO happy hour - which is why the place looks like Norman in the summer when school - deserted. Happy Hour starts at NINE PM? Really? Marketing manager of this place should be fired immediately. I went in with the Closer, a Hungarian, so he loved the beer and the wursts as did I but you bang out 2-3 beers each and each get ONE thing to eat and you have an EIGHTY DOLLAR tab. This is Norman, OK, not Upper East Side of Manhatten, OK? How about a reality break during the summer and GET SOME PEOPLE in there - great product - just a misguided pitch to the public. Get that right and you are at 4-5 stars.

I really like the Wiener Schnitzel here.  My only issue is with the desserts - they're just not that great.  We tried the apple strudel and the cheesecake.  I like their beers. though!

A group of us went for lunch  - a larger group went the next week.  I love the Boot Camp fries, it makes a great meal!

I can't believe no one had told me how good it was.  I've since have told just about everyone I know that they need to go and try the Boot Camp fries.

Seems like it would be a great place for med to large size groups

I've been here twice now. Once on OU game day (I had the place basically to myself!), and once right now.

The down-scale, Main St. child of Royal Bavaria does not disappoint. The menu is limited, but ingredients are fresh and food is made with skill and care. Served with beers from Royal Bavaria brewery just out of town, and a full menu til midnight every night.

I'm also a fan (as at the parent location) of the casual-European style of service, where you're welcome to stick around as long as you want after you eat, and you don't have any pushy servers stopping by every two minutes.

Seriously, I've got nothing even remotely bad to say about either of my experiences here.

On one hand, its not the Royal Bavaria.

On the other hand, I can ride my bike here.

Gorgeous blonde wood covers most of this heavily transformed space on old Main st., as I would expect from the proprietor of the Royal Bavaria- a genuine Bavarian farmhouse nestled near, uh, Moore, Oklahoma, believe it or not.

The vegetarian options are few, unless pretzels count.  I don't care though.  Pretzels are enough.  And the beer.  In fact, I only took one star off because the mustard is for babies.  You're gonna bring Belgian wit bieren, katroffel fries, spatzel und wurst aber nicht no bleepin' horseradish in my mustard?!  That's cold,  broenheimen.

That being poorly said, their brewmaster is no slouch, and every beer they brew is very good.  There's 4 or 5 that range from bright, crisp whites to mellow, toasty ambers.  The menu, while inherently German, is heavily American, and striving to be a concept in itself rather than just "a smaller Royal Bavaria."  This is the only explanation I can think of for there being a shrimp cocktail on the menu...

Like I say about every other place that opens up on old Main st that people can actually patronize: A welcome addition.

I went in because I liked the name and I'm glad I tried it on a whim. I sat at the bar in the back and noticed that Das Boot Camp has very cheap specials every night starting at 9. If you're a poor college student, go.

I liked the combination of minimalist decor and flat-screen TVs framed in wood and plaid curtains, as if you were in a German cottage. I also liked the lights that were made out of boots, the same boots that larger beers are served in. The giant pieces of wood around the bar were darker than the rest of the wood and appeared to be German. It was cool. I also noticed a Jager tap with 2-3 different kinds that made me laugh.

I tried a Munich beer on tap (can't remember which one). The liter, which came in the plastic boot (I like it, even if it's kitschy), was reasonably priced. I snacked on a German pretzel that I have to say was the best pretzel I've ever had. The bartender said the dough is imported from Munich and is the exact same kind of pretzel you'd get at Oktoberfest. I believe him. It was huge, cheap and delicious. The pretzel was dark on the outside and had nice crunch. The inside was moist but light--not heavy or dense like American pretzels. The spicy mustard and house-made cheese dip that came with the pretzel were both very good. Awesome snack.

Support this place. There's not another one like it in Norman.

I'm so glad we got another restaurant in Downtown Norman, and not just any restaurant, a German restaurant. Das Boot has a wide variety on their menu at very reasonable prices. I had lunch there with my girlfriend and she ordered a Nurenburg sausage platter which had no remnance of food on her plate afterwards. I ordered their chicken rotisserrie salad. The chicken was on the bone, and the salad came with a delicious mustard instead of salad dressing, but it worked! We ordered a bread platter while we waited which had soft pretzels and some other tasty bread. Major bonus for beer drinkers, they have happy hours. And, you can be so happy when you drink your beer out of a boot!

This new German restaurant is great. Their menu isn't very big but the food is delicious. The schnitzel sandwich is very tasty with a slice of lemon that gives it a great flavor. The sausage is very good as well. The beer is delicious as well, and I am not a big beer person.

This is a fantastic concept from Royal Bavaria and a great addition to Norman.  It's more like a German bistro than a restaurant, so don't think it'll be stuffy.  While there are the same wooden tables and booths from the main place, the walls are full of tvs and the place gives off an odd dichotomy of traditional German and urban minimalist ambiance.

The food is basically the same as Royal Bavaria, with the German staples like schnitzel and sausages, but in a more realistic portion size and at an affordable price.  I don't think there was a dish over $10.  I usually order the jaegerschnitzel and it has always been delicious.

The one thing that really bothers me about this place is their wine list.  It's terrible.  There are very few options and they are not good labels.  I expected more, at least in the white wine section, from a German place.

Ok this is still one of my favorite places in Norman. Got the slight downgrade because the soup was not warm. Really? Where is the quality control if the soup is not warm. Don't know if the owner/manager reads this but if so, fix your problem

While the parent restaurant of Das Boot Camp, Royal Bavaria, has some large-scale novelty going for it, Das Boot Camp is fairly bare bones. The menu is pretty limited but offers the same tasty German fare from Royal Bavaria in real human portions. The schnitzel sandwich, accented with thin lemon slices and aioli, is spot-on.

The beer boots are here too, though in this location, they're plastic. That bummer is canceled out by Das Boot Camp's new happy hour specials: From 9:00 p.m. to midnight, the almost-$10 liter of locally-brewed beer is knocked down to $4. A steal!

The dining room is uncomfortably bright, even at night, but I still see this becoming a regular destination for lunch, dinner and Thunder watching. Very happy to have this place in Norman.

After reading the reviews on here I was a little weary, but I'm glad I gave this place a chance. It really measured up.

Service: It seemed like some of the wait staff were still a bit new (which can be expected in a new place).  Nothing major, just the small things.  For instance, We didn't get any sort of greeting when we walked in the door or got to our table.  However, our waitress was attentive and efficient.

Food:  We started with the pretzel.  It had two dipping sauces--a traditional German mustard and a weird cheese-based sauce.  Both were tasty.
I had the boot camp burger (Bavarian Style), which was fantastic.  The only downside was that they didn't put enough of their German mustard on it.  Order it with extra and it is awesome.  My fiancee had the schniztle sandwich, which was also very tasty.  We finished with the bread pudding.  Phenomenal

Value: Best part--for an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert, our pre-tip tab was $23.  At Royal Bavaria the same meal would be between double and triple that amount.  They also have specials on their boot beer and brats that are worth asking about.

I don't know what to think quite yet. The place looks super small on the outside but it's really big on the inside (think the TARDIS. And if you don't know what a TARDIS is or Doctor Who, I suggest you google that NOW). Very clean and we didn't wait long for a table for 4.
The beer selection was good, but it was pricy and the beer tasted a bit like plastic. Since it's a new place, I don't think they cleared out the tap yet. Just a warning for all your beer lovers out there.
The food on the other hand wasn't terrible! I ha the sausage sampler, but beware... There is one sausage that is spicy and F*** and it nearly brought me to tears. I'm such a wimp when it comes to spicy stuff. My dish was the pork schnitzel and it was excellent! I like their home made chips :)

Went here for the UYE! Had a great time. I want to give this place a 3.5 until I try more of the food.

It was pretty packed when we arrived and were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait, we decided to still wait it out. We probably only waited 10-15 minutes.

We were seated and immediately our server came to take out drink orders. We talked and looked over the menus for a few and finally we all decided on our dishes.

I ordered the boot camp burger barbarian style and the husband ordered the Jager Schnitzel. I wish I would of ordered what he got. The Boot camp burger was good, but not satisfying. The Husbands food was delicious. Totally wanted to trade, lol. He also got the Goulash Soup for an appetizer, it was decent but lacked flavor in my opinion. He really seemed to enjoy it though.

Our server was really friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very fun and inviting, lots of tv's and they even have boot lighting fixtures. I will say they maybe need to come up with a new seating style as their seating is long tables and there isn't too many of them so it gets full fast and you have a couple just using a table made for 8.

I will definitely go back to try some other foods!
