I'm a huge fan of the Richmond location, and this a great alternative to driving into the city. The ambiance is intimate and relaxing. The martini menu is vast and the bartenders are always knowledgeable. There is also a good selection of fine whiskeys.
The only downside is that it is a tad small, but other than that it is a must see if your looking for a spot that isn't crawling with the recently legal crowd, if you know what I mean :)
A friend and I decided to check this place out after work on Friday. Never going there before or hearing anything about it, we walked in with an open mind.
Once we opened the door, we realized how small it is. If I had to guess, this bar can seat 15-20 comfortably and that's it.
Another thing we noticed is that everyone else in there was in their late 30s at the youngest. Definitely not our demographic, that's for sure.
On the plus side, huge and outstanding menu of drinks.
Came to The Davenport for a friends 40th birthday celebration specifically to reminisce about our younger days that we spent at the Davenport in Houston. We arrived around 10:30 with a group of 13. Every seat in the place was taken. I would only estimate maybe 25 places to sit. I checked out the drink menu an it looked just as amazing as I remember. I was dying to have the newbies try out some of my favorite signature drinks but everyone was pretty bummed about the lack of searing so we left. I suggest going early, especially if you have a large party.
Review Source:In my opinion there is a shortage of more mature, classy venues in Clear Lake and The Davenport definitely fills a void. Â I saw the place a few months ago driving by and decide to give it a try. Â My girlfriends and I met up here on a Friday night and we were not disappointed. Â The staff was attentive and very knowledgeable. Â The prices seemed to be reasonable but there were several very generous male patrons that paid for our drinks. The gentlemen were even kind enough to give up there seats for 2 of our friends, you'll be hard pressed to see something like that at the other Clear Lake bars the under 24 crowd frequents.
  I actually tried bourbon for the first time here and it was a very enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is dark, and romantic so this could be a very nice date spot.  I'm not the type to frequent Scout, Time Out, Sherlock's, or any of the other typical Clear Lake bars so I usually have to drive into Houston to find a bar I like. Well not anymore, I will definitely be going back to The Davenport.
I'm a fan of the Davenport in Houston. Like their sister bar, they have a pretty generous pour and a great selection of martinis. It's kinda ducked away in a shopping center. The music is good, the people were cool and the bartenders were friendly. If you like to try different martinis, then this is the place for you in the Clearlake area. The bartenders are very knowledgable about the drinks they pour and made recommendations to fit our tastes. Give them a try.
Review Source:It's as though my prayers have been answered. I grew up in Clear Lake and lament the existence of a great place to hang out when I go back to visit my family. My brother told me about this place, but I couldn't believe it until I saw it.
I tried the Mango Tango and Strawberry Fields martinis. Both were great, though I think the preferred the Mango Tango. I can't remember what the other people had but everyone was very happy.
After the great drinks, the best part of this place is that it's for adults: people who want to go out, have a great drink, sit, and talk to their people. It has a great interior and great staff. The music is at a sane human level and it's very relaxing.
I'm surprised they are open every night until 2am though. We were there around 10:30pm on a Tuesday night and there were only 2 others. I'm sure it gets more crowded on the weekends, but I hope they can manage to stay open, if only for my bi-annual visits :)
My brother said there was a DJ one night. Saturday maybe?
Well, what can I say...this place simply rocks! Â Actually..it DOES NOT rock...it LOUNGES! Â Its a lounge and I love it. Â Bartender Brad keeps the drinks coming and makes them RIGHT! Â Don't be afraid of the drink prices, they only pour doubles here and only the good stuff. Â If martinis are your thing then you have to pay them a visit. Â They have an extremely wide selection of booze and they make some of the finest cocktails I have ever had. Â They also have a sweet little patio out back..tables chairs, plenty of places to just stand around and talk with friends...I understand they will be adding some outdoor speakers soon so the outdoor guests can enjoy some tunes. Â Which leads me to my next point...their musical taste was niiiice. Â Then at about 9-9:30 a DJ came in and did his thing..all loungable grooves....nothing heavy. Â I can;t wait to go back.
