  Really loved this place and miss it. They had the best "chimi's" around.  Great memories of my later father and Grandfather and the whole family going there. It will be missed!

  Dave's is a special place.  I had the good fortune of living across the street there and got to know the owner after a few visits.  As the other reviewer said, the first few times were awkward, but once he knew who I was, all was good.
  
  If you can become a regular there and manage to have the fresh-caught fish made with a secret family recipe, you're a lucky person.  My wife and I managed to "catch" it once, returning many times thereafter for another round, but no such luck.  The only thing keeping this place from a full five stars is the rarity of that dish.

  This place would be 3 stars because I actually liked the food but as far as service went, I've never had a more awkward dinner in my life. I went there on Friday night (10/31/08) for a quick dinner with Rachel Y. before we went out for the night. It is a very very small place and the parking is very limited. I didn't really have any kind of expectations good or bad. The food was pretty standard. I got the carnitas burrito. It was pretty standard. The carnitas were a bit on the dry side but still good. The guac was guac.
  
  I'm giving this place 2 stars because of the service. When we walked in the place was pretty dead. It was our first time so we didn't know how things went. After standing inside by the door for a bit Dave finally told us we could sit anywhere we wanted. We sat in the patio. While the service wasn't horrible is was just weird. We were the only ones sitting outside and he would walk out there to check up on us,  not say anything, kind of glance our way and then leave. When he did talk is was after standing by our table for a bit staring at us. Rachel Y. and I just kept on laughing every time he came by because he was so awkward we didn't know what else to do.
  
  I might have to give this place a second chance but I won't anytime soon.
