Felt very welcome here! Â Thanks to all the locals hanging out day in, day out at this spot.. Â They had nice food, alright selection of beers but most importantly good company! Â
This is a neighborhood joint unlike the rest of the bars in the area that cater mostly to tourists.. Lucky to find this spot!
I was in the mood for a bar with good food and my Yelp Mobile App demanded that I go here. Â Over 80 reviews and a solid 4 stars sounded great to me.
Some of the reviews mentioned that parking was tough. Â It was a beautiful day so I parked about three blocks away and enjoyed a pleasant walk. Â That was a smart move.
I walked in the door and smiled because this place has the great neighborhood bar feel. Â It's hard to describe but it's a combination of a slightly quirky atmosphere and a bunch of happy patrons eating and drinking. Â It doesn't matter if you're a regular or not. Â Everyone is made to feel welcome. Â I can see why this place has been visited by DINERS, DRIVE INS & DIVES.
I'm a sucker for a good dish of gumbo so my eyes were immediately drawn to that menu entry. Chicken & Sausage Gumbo served over rice for $9.95 sounded perfect. Â I was completely and utterly wrong. Â It was not perfect. Â It was stunning, and amazing, and extraordinary and earth shatteringly delicious! Â It was the best gumbo I have ever had and I've tried some fantastic versions in New Orleans. It was packed with chicken and sausage! Â I embarrassed myself with my moans of ecstasy. Â The bartender told me not to worry as that happens often when folks taste this dish. Â A word of warning; this dish packs some heat so expect your tongue to tingle a bit.
If I get within 50 miles of Annapolis again, this will be the first place I'll visit.
