Arrived about 6:30 on a Friday and sat at a booth.
We were there for beers & burgers (to eat there) and wings (50 for carryout).
We sat about 15 minutes then went to the bar and picked up a menu ourselves.
We never did  get served or acknowledged.  The place was almost empty.
When we left (still thirsty and hungry) we asked the bartender if they even had table service (no indications that they didn't). Â She replied, "No, not really." Â When we told her we'd been there quite a while with NO service she told us she hadn't noticed us--we were in the front, right across from the bar--don't know how she missed us!
I previously wrote a stellar review for DEAD Freddies, praising the burgers ad wings (once the best in Baltimore IMHO) Â But, sadly, it seems Freddie's truly is DEAD now.
I'm sooooo disappointed!
New Ownership Alert!
In last week and discovered it was cleaner, repainted, and much more welcoming. There are new windows, double the taps, a much better beer selection, and they've replaced the almost-guaranteed-to-start-a-fight pool tables. The first thing I thought was that it will be much more appealing to female patrons - especially that the sexist and sometimes racist stickers no longer cover the bar mirrors. The menu is still getting re-vamped, but the wings, fries, and burgers are still rocking. The new owner was nice enough to chat us up, and I think there are positive things in store for this spot!
I have never eaten at Freddie's but I have socialized and drank on several occasions.
The atmosphere of the bar is superb. Dimly lit, typically good music, and several televisions but best of all are 2 affordable well maintained pool tables towards the back.
When short on ideas me and my girlfriend like to pop into DF for a cheap beer and a couple games of pool. I also like catching an O's game here where I can chat and watch the game
There is almost always an abundance of seating but a healthy crowd at Dead Freddies and the staff is attentive and friendly.
A great neighborhood hot spot in North East Bmore.
Dead Freddies is at the end of my street and I used to go there all the time. Â Currently, unless you're ordering whatever special they have going that night I think all of the menu items are overpriced. Â In fact, they've more than doubled over the last seven years. Â I mean, $11.99 for a chicken quesadilla at Freddies...come on. Â We're obviously not paying for ambiance. Â Anyway, if what you're looking for is a mildly overpriced, extremely average sports bar then this is your place. Â At least the bartenders are nice.
Review Source:I'm blown away?!
This place should be getting way better ratings. Â I've been here more times than I care to count. Â Tuesday Wing special is the best $20 for 20 wings and a pitcher of beer. Â You can't beat that and the wings are good too!
It's a dive place but the drinks are good and well priced, the service is what you expect and everyone is friendly. Â Many times you head into the local dive bar and you get the funny looks and half hearted service if you're not a regular BUT...not here. Â
Yes it gets crowded on game days...but wouldn't you expect that from a dive bar?! Â
Classic "dive bar" and NOT one you want to avoid, DIVE IN!!!!!!
If you want a crowded, loud bar then Freddies is the place to go. Â And it's completely crazy here during Ravens games. Â I was here on one game day and literally saw guys screaming and cursing at the top of their lungs while jumping on tables. Â It was ridiculous! Â I know this town loves their Ravens, but come on now, you're adults. Â
Other experiences have been that I can't hear anything that people are saying because the music is so loud. Â And they have pool tables in the back, which is cool in theory, but when the place is packed, it just doesn't work. Â People trying to play pool get really pissed because other people are standing around and they can't stretch out as much as they'd like. Â
And the parking lot is just way too small for the amount of people come to this bar. Â I never get a spot in the lot and always have to try to find street parking.
Walking into Dead Freddie's, you get carded by very well-muscled bouncers. That was about the highlight of the evening.
I can't speak for prices, as I didn't buy any of my drinks. I'm guessing they're far higher than they need to be for a bar in Parkville. However, the music was ridiculously loud, and the crowd was... amusing at best, but thankfully left us alone.
However, last call was around... one? one fifteen? And we were urged to finish up and get the fuck out (but marginally more nicely than that) at least three times.
God forbid we be allowed to finish our beers before vacating the premises. Not a place I would go voluntarily.
