Previously enjoyed going here asI thought of it as a family friendly establishment. UNTIL the last timewe went in and a busboy dropped a tray of drinks on my 18 month old grandaughter's head! Luckily all cold drinks. He then proceeded to bring a stack of napkins out to the table and handed them to my husband as if we were supposed to clean it up ourselves!!!. Busboy was very apologetic but never once did a manager or supervisor come out to check on the situation or my granddaughter. I wrote a letter to the manager/owner of the establishment and to date have never receieved as much as a reply.
Review Source:I have never dined inside but have stopped in a few times to pick up some broasted chicken. The chicken is awesome super crispy and never greasy. That being said, the sides leave something to be desired they're just okay. I prefer getting sides at KFC and then getting my chicken from Dean's.
Review Source:My wife and I went here last night, we both got the cream of crab soup and crabcakes. The cream of crab had almost NO crab in it and they used milk, NOT cream in their soup. The crabcake was one of the most dry non seasoned crabcakes I have EVERY had. The front of the restaurant (indoors) looked like an old age home based upon its patrons, which probably explains the bland food. The back deck area is more lively, but is primarily for drinking even though there are tables setup for dining.
Overall, I was not impressed and to spend over $50 for 2 people on bland boring food in the backyard of a house doesn't excite me. We went here due to receiving a gift certificate and I won't be returning since the food is fair at best and overpriced for your typical bar food/atmosphere.
Really really love to support local small biz BUT...
This is the 2nd time in there, the food is very very pricey for the joint (not updated decor / dish is but average) & then the waitress charge me a seafood meal I did not even have.
Sure enough, I have to tell her to take it off & come to find out... the person that ate that dish is sitting right behind me... (don't know if they knew each other thus stick me with the bill??? But anyhow, that hush hush make it sounds like it.)
The next day, the CC was charged with a 20% tip on it???? I paid that tip in CASH... so why should any business charge me more than what I wrote on the receipt???
So it all sounds very very fishy to me.
So any future visit... a caution to all patrons... CHECK that receipt & DOUBLE CHECK with your CC company that the "correct" amount is charged on your card.
No, will never go there again & will keep an eye out for the waitress from a future "ID fraud" if there is more "questionable" charges to my CC!
Just a bad taste in my mouth... that whole experience!
Food = Ave... if that.
Service = Below Ave. have to ask multiple time to get my drinks refilled.
Decor = needs updating BAD!
Dean's was very busy on this, the first Friday in December...but they found a table for two in the back room toward the bar area. Let me say up front that if you are looking for a modern, hip place full of young people you will no doubt be disappointed. Yes, the decor is older and it is a little boisterous when everyone gets talking at the same time, but it's where the locals hang out so the atmosphere is comfortable.
I ordered the stuffed crab dish, which came with the salad bar and a potato of choice, all of which were tasty.
All meals come with a plate of fritters and the powdered sugar is right on the table to be added as you like.
Our waiter was friendly and helpful and all our foods were delivered hot and without delay.
Been there several times now and every time I have walked away satisfied.
OK, so my friend and I checked this place out.
Before even entering you could tell it was a place that the older gen frequented and is also a local hang out for the cops.
You walk in and yes, it is a little dated, but quaint.
The afternoon we were there there was a large party going on in the back and half of the restaraunt was filled and only one waitress that we noticed.
She barely greeted us with a smile and places my friend and I on the opposite side the the dining area away from all the other diners. (the regulars mabey?) We found this a bit odd as it was totally noticable...lol.....It took quite awhile to get our drink order placed and even longer to get our food order placed. This waitress, well, was running thin.
During the wait time, my friend got up and was looking at pics on the wall etc...when she came across a posted newspaper add that started out by saying "If you want to know what;s going on in Hampstead do'nt go to Town Hall come to Deans"....ok, that says local gossip joint!....lol
All in all, it was humerous for us and the burgers...were pretty damn good! The do, of course boast, about being the best in town....they ddn't disappoint.
On scale of 1-5
Service 3...she needed help
Abiance 3...outdated
Food 4.....burgers were purrty damn good
