I attended a bridal shower here in the more private back room area. It has it's own bar and there was a buffet table set up, in addition to each of our tables getting their own flatbread pizzas and calamari. Jenna the event planner/manager did an excellent job and all the attendees appeared to have a good time.
Review Source:The balsamic chicken salad was fabulous (and the chicken was not breaded/sauteed, which I liked, as you never quite know how each place will define "balsamic chicken"). Â Beer selection was pretty good, but we had to stand up to go read a scrolling menu to find out what they all were. Â
The service was so-so, which is why I didn't give four stars. Â My empty water glass was passed by several times, and at the end, we weren't even asked if we wanted dessert; we just had the check dropped on our table. Â If I'm paying $15 for a salad (albeit a delicious one), please treat me like I'm paying $15 for a salad.
Went for dinner and ate at the bar, service was great, food was excellent, bartenders were very attentive, kept track of food even though the place was packed. Â Went back for lunch because the salads looked so good was dying to try.......glad I did, steak salad was soooooo good. Â Would absolutely recommend ......and will make it a go to!
Review Source:Had lunch here today! Fabulous guacamole and onion rings. Grilled veggie platter was ok. My son liked his balsamic chicken, my husband had shepherds pie. Â I don't think he read what was in it and was surprised to find beef...he enjoyed it. Â My aunt had shrimp dish and liked it too. Â Our server was very friendly and helpful. Â Loved my Sam Adams seasonal on tap. Â My husband had the beer sampler and loved it. Â We will be back.
Review Source:We decided to get delivery, when I called they said it would be an hour.. I didn't care, but we where tired. However, it took about 35 mins. The food was great, except the burger.. I forgot not to get those here. Otherwise, this would have been five stars. Buffalo tenders are awesome, fries where great! I ate the burger anyway, since I was strait up hungry and I make a nasty bbq sauce that can fix anything... almost
Review Source:Review is for the bar only. Unless you are a local customer who knows the bartenders, skip this place. Friend and I were completely ignored. My buddy asked for a 2nd beer and I watched the bartender hold the bottle in his hand for at least 2 minutes while carrying on a conversation with other customers. Heard great things about this place to. Too bad we won't be going back. Oh, and if you are going to display your glasses on a shelf with lighting, it helps if you clean your glasses. Gross.
Review Source:This time it was a bunch for dinner on a Thursday night - surprised to find the parking lot almost full at 7pm - glad we had reservations, quite a few folks hanging out, but the bar is great place to wait for a table if you need one. Beers on tap are great - had a Rogue Irish Lager - perfect - medium bodied full flavored, dark golden brew. Dinner entrees are not cheap, so we skipped apps & dessert - since you get a soup or salad w the entree. I went for the market fish, red snapper, pan seared, & served w asparagus & rice, very nicely done, bit steep though @ $31. The ambiance was cozy, leather banquettes, nice separation between diners, service was responsive and prompt. Damage was $75/couple. Nice way to catch up w friends, great beer and good food, be ready to spend a bit.
Review Source:My wife and I have been here several time as we live nearby. Â I enjoy going here as they have an excellent, rolling selection of craft beers. Â I would describe the atmosphere as bustling, trendy, dark, and loud. Â It's an enjoyable place to have a few drinks, a few laughs, and a great meal. Â I've never been disappointed with the food; it's very good.
On average, the service is okay and very much depends on who your server is. Â Some servers are experienced and understand that in a busy restaurant, you need to hustle in order to keep your customers happy. Â On the other hand some of the younger servers have a much slower approach and it's evident they don't really care (forgetting things, slow response to requests, etc.). Â For the most part, the service is good enough and doesn't really effect the night.
This review mainly references the bar area as that is where we enjoy spending the evening. Â We typically go on Friday and Saturday evenings as well. Â There are several tables and seats in the bar area that are first come, first serve. Â This area is typically very busy as it is a mix of people extending their happy hour, people waiting for tables, and people (like us) who are there for the entire evening. Â We've also been to the dining room and have had a great experience there as well.
My husband and I have been here twice for dinner so far. Both times it was very busy, which is always a good sign! Â The service was great-servers were friendly and food arrived quickly.
Everything we've had to eat here was delicious. We love the Black and Tan onion ring appetizer. We've had wraps and sandwiches and really enjoyed both. Ingredients are very fresh and delicious! My husband loves that they have such an extensive draft beer selection.
Definitely a favorite place for us!
What do you do when you are meeting a friend in an area that you don't know and have no idea what type of (good) restaurants are in that area? Well if you are a dedicated Yelper (like me), you know that logging onto Yelp is what you do. It doesn't let you down (9 out of 10 times they are right on point)! Sometimes, I wish I thought of creating a website like this, but then again I am not that computer savvy...oh I digress, back onto the real reason why you are reading...my review.
So anyway, Yelp did not let us down. We fell in love and I mean LOVE with this place. First of all let me say that the decor is trendy, yet still has a warm feeling to it. Regardless if you are eating at the HUGE bar or at one of the roomy, comfy booths, you won't want to leave. And the menus - we loved how they lit up. Yes, you heard me right - the menus light up. Very cool.
As far as the food is concerned, the name has it right - DELICIOUS. We decided not to have apps (which we are now kicking ourselves for), because we wanted to save room for dessert. So we both got sandwich's - I had the roasted chicken club sandwich that's so jam packed with flavors you don't know what to do with yourself. Each bite is more amazing the next next. And the sandwich is HUGE - I could only eat half, which made me extremely upset, since I really wanted to eat the whole thing. But then I was excited that I could have it as leftovers (that was until my boyfriend ate it on me). Oh and the sweet potatoes fries covered in cinnamon and sugar are addicting. I couldn't stop eating them. Even though my stomach was yelling at me to stop, I ate every last one. Â
And again, even though we were beyond stuffed, we still managed to reserve a little bit of room (we ate almost the whole thing) for the crustless pecan pie. Just thinking about it make me want to grab my keys and drive the hour it takes to get to the restaurant to have a slice (well not really a slice since it's in a cast iron skillet).
Honestly, words cannot express how much I loved this place. All I know is that I need to go back!
Lovely place for a dinner on a cold winter night. Ambiance is old fashioned posh, and the light-up menus are a nice touch. Service was attentive and efficient. The food is well made, nicely presented and tasty. Our party of four ordered the spinach dip and spicy tuna roll to share and then a shrimp dish, a salad, a grilled veggie platter and a sandwich. It was all very good. One jarring note: the fries were lukewarm to stone cold. And the thermostat could use some evening out - one area was boiling hot, the rest of the dining room bordered on chilly. All in all a fun place for a nice evening out.
Review Source:I like DH...I have a gone a few times. Â The first couple of times, I wasnt that impressed, however, I definitely like it now and would recommend it. Â It has a great bar area and atmosphere very energetic...my husband likes all of the beer options they have. Â We just went last night and had the special french fry starter with cheese/bacon, etc, and it was really good. Â I also got their broccoli cheddar soup which I really liked. Â My husband got the french dip sandwich which was also a special and he really liked it. Â I got the balsamic chicken salad which was awesome - the chicken is in this balsmic reduction and its SO tasty and the salad has mozzarella, walnuts, cranberries and roasted red peppers. Â I get this salad all the time for takeout and its really good. Â Even though I wasnt that impressed with DH my first couple of trips, I really do like it now and will go often since I live very close!
Review Source:We have gone to this place once every year for several, but this was our first visit after the big makeover. Wow! Like a different restaurant, like from '50's family style to full-bore 21st Century hip. The self-lighted beer taps and menu tell it all. Food is good if not exceptional, and service was efficient and friendly. We'll be back next year.
Review Source:A very good selection of beer (but not cheap) , food pretty decent, large portions, burgers are pretty good, nachos are huge, fried calamari is a bit spicy but delicious.
Pros: semi-dressy atmosphere, good food, wide selection of appetizers, large portions, great beer selection, ample safe parking.
Cons: beer isa bit pricey.
P.S. Their menus are awesome-looking!
Great place, very cool scene, tons of great beers, great food!!!! I have been there about 5 times now. Last night we had about 12 people. The service sucked!! I waited 15min once to order another beer, they never cleared the table of finished or dirty plates and they had no clue who's food was who's. As I walked out I was carrying my 2 month old, bags and walking my 2 year old. The host, a manager and two waitresses stood bullshitting by the door and did not offer to open it. Very poor showing guys.
Review Source:Went with a group of 5. Was very impressed with the bar area. They have appox. 15 - 25 different beers on tap. There is a portion of the bar that is made of a frosty ice so your beer or drink stays iced cold while you drink. Got to the restraunt before our party, we stopped at the bar while we waited, found the bar area to be very clean and inviting. The nicest thing was the "service only" bar you pass when you walk in - which is genius - now you don't have to wait while your bartender is pouring drinks for the whole restraunt. We then were seated at a booth, the menu was pretty cool how it lit up. We orded a few apps nachos and fried calamari - which if I can remember came out in a resonable amount of time and were pretty tastey. (this review is coming 2 months after I was there) I orded the Burger, and the thing was more then enough food -plus very juicy (cooked medium). I gave this place a 4 start because the whole group walked out and we all agreed we had a great dinner and at a decent price. We all agreed we will be going back.
I hear they have a great brunch...
Very happy about the change. The restaurant used to be Willie's Tavern. We've eaten at the one in Berkeley Hts a bunch of times so it's great they built one in Bedminster.
The bar does get crowded on a Fri and/or Sat night so you have to get there early if you want a seat. However, you could seat yourself in the lounge.
Food is good. Highly recommend the sandwiches, wraps, and appetizers. Portion size is large. Â Would visit again, prices are about right for the area. A burger/wrap will be around $16, wine $8 a glass, draft beer $5 a pint and there is quite a variety of beer. Would recommend this restaurant.
Drinks with the gals last night at Delicious Heights. All of the booths by the bar were taken so we grabbed a real table. Sadly, I won't do that again.
The one male bartender that always serves us is spot on with everthing and a large part of why we continually return. We did not get him as our server last night :(
Last night our server didn't get anything right.
I ordered a meal, came with salad - got a wedge - asked for no bacon. Came with bacon, had to send it back.
Go the short ribs, noticed on the menu it came with sauteed broccoli - asked for plain steamed. Got sauteed. Gave up and just didn't eat it - way to garlicky.
Thought my wine didn't taste like the cab I normally order, when we got the bill, turns out it was Merlot. Seriously?
Yes, I asked for special stuff, but nothing anymore special than I've asked for in the past thats always come out perfect. If I get that server again (Miguel A), I will ask to switch.
Extensive, neat glo-menus and a trendy atmosphere - just right for this hyper-affluent area and priced accordingly. After momma heard good things about the one in Berkeley Heights, we thought we'd try the Bedminster location.
During our 15-minute wait at 7:30 on a Saturday night (the line got a LOT longer soon thereafter), I perused the great beer selection (illuminated taps) and the pint I had was cold and fresh ($6.50). Once seated, we ordered the $8 onion ring appetizer, which came with two sauces: one mustard-based and the other a sweet honey-bourbon goo. Very good and enough for the three of us.
My son and I had burgers which were decent but not extraordinary for $11ish. Momma had Shepherd's pie, for about $16, which was also good. NOTE: sides are a la carte and about $7 each (we did not get any). The fries that accompanied the burgers were overcooked and I stopped after eating 3 of them (no stars!). Seriously, how does a place like this frig up fries? Dessert was the $8 warm brownie with ice cream and chocolate & vanilla sauces and was very good (enough for two light eaters).
Total check, including one appetizer, two burgers, one cheap entreé, one dessert, and two soft drinks came to $64 with tax for three people.
OTHER THAN THE FOOD
Other than the fries, the downer of the night was the two servers we encountered other than the one who took care of us. One female rudely removed dishes and a male nearly ran me over as we left (lucky for him I dodged). Neither apologized or excused him/herself. That's Bedminster, I suppose. Time from order to eating was actually on the quick side - good. Lots of flat screen TVs with sports on.
OVERALL
Four-star quality, two-star value. Might go again some time, but not in any rush.
I have only had a salad for lunch so far so I do not have deep comments on the food as of yet. However, with backlit menus and Delirium Tremens on tap they are off to an amazing start for me. Did I mention Delirium Tremens? Yes, perhaps the best beer in the world and going there for lunch it took a force of will not to partake as it would not have made a good finish for the rest of the day. Next time, however, dinner will be served and the whole reason for going back will be the beer they have on tap.
Review Source:New restaurant in the old Willie's. However if someone blindfolded you and brought you here and asked you what restaurant this used to be (once you were inside) and where you are, you would have no clue.
Delicious Heights is quite the modern restaurant. It is on the darker side and has modern interior decorating and even modern amenities (USB at each table). Once you sit down you are probably going to wonder how you will read the menus, but voila! the menu lights up! The bar area is also really modern with countless taps at multiple bars with really neat logos on each tap to show you the beer. In one word, the atmosphere is amazing.
The food here is also really great. It is not cheap, but not expensive either. There is a good variety of what I would call "new American" food. I had the cheesesteak when I went and it was really great. The others in my party all stated that their meals were excellent as well. Serving size is also very good.
This restaurant is a must go to if you are in the area!
We just ate dinner here and we loved this restaurant. Â The interior is a little on the dark side but we loved it. Â The menus light up and there are a ton of TVs set to sports. Â They must have 2 dozen beers on tap. Â Definitely and upgrade from the old Willies.
We had the onion rings and they were awesome - dipped in bourbon. The mozzarella sticks seemed extra large and fresh - the cheese was very gooey. Â I had the crab cakes which were loaded with meat - if there was bread in them, it was just for coloring ;-). Â All entrees come with a choice of 3 salads and I really enjoyed the wedge. Â My son had the Hawaiian steak and my daughter had the app sliders and both enjoyed it.
I highly recommend it and will be returning. Â Do I miss the old Willies? Â Sure. Â Am I a fan of Delicious Heights? Â Most definitely.
Came here with the family for my birthday. Â The back lit menus are awesome, especially in a dimly lit restaurant. Â The drinks are nice and strong, and reasonably priced. Â Everyone's meal was great. Â The desserts were good too. Â The service was on point, and our waitress was really nice. Â We'll come back.
Review Source:Stopped at D.H. for a beer with people after work and stayed for dinner. Â Last time I was there it was Willie's and that was a low-key bar to visit. Â It's not a low-key bar anymore! Â
They serve at least a dozen beers on tap, many interesting ones and many I didn't recognize, I only got to try one. Â Their bar gimmick is bottles of liquor on blocks of ice and frost-covered pipes that hold up the beer taps, I heard them described as ice taps, but it's not nearly as impressive in person as you might think. Â The parking lot was nuts and the bar was utterly full on a Thursday evening, no tables or booths or even stools available, and far too noisy to talk. Â
As soon as we could we moved over to the restaurant where it quieted down a lot. Â The place is attractive and dim, modern, newly renovated, big (really big) booths, so big you sit a tad too far from the table. Â Another gimmick: menus that backlight the pages from within, like a cheap ipad :). Â I kid you not, we had stupid fun opening and closing the menus to watch the light go out. Â
Food is all straight American with steak, a bit of pasta, lots of sandwiches, a few fish specials. We started with wings (each a nice size and tasty) as well as a veggie option, spinach and artichoke dip served with nacho chips (large but not all that tasty). Â After that we ordered grilled fish sandwiches, a wrap and crab cakes. Â Didn't enjoy any fresh bread from our server but the service was pretty attentive and the food came quickly enough that I didn't notice the wait. Â The prices here range from not bad ($6 beer, $11 basic burger) to substantial ($30+ entree); so the four-dollar-sign rating that I saw here on Yelp is not quite right, but it sure ain't a bargain either.
Probably a great safe place to bring people with no risk of offending anyone, I guess that's damning with faint praise but that's my opinion.
Wow - I must say that I was pretty impressed by this place. Â A group of us decided to go here for some dinner and drinks the other night. Â Some basics - DH occupies the same space that Willie's Taverne used to. Â I was never a fan of Willie's. Â When we got there, the entire parking lot was almost full - the place was absolutely packed. Â Upon entering, I was shocked to see how nice the place was. Â They must have come pretty close to gutting the place, but it looks great. Â Great woodwork everywhere - I was very impressed. Â
We decide to grab a booth by the bar - it was seat yourself, I am not sure how long it would have taken to get a table. Â The menu is pretty impressive - literally and figuratively. Â When you open it up, it literally lights up which I thought was pretty cool. Â And, they have a ton of different items to choose from. Â Personally, I was torn between the burger and the ahi tuna sandwich. Â Since I had never been here before, I went with what I thought would be the safer option and ordered the bacon cheddar burger. Â For apps, we got an order of the pierogies and they were pretty good. Â I am not the biggest pierogie fan but they were decent. Â I was asked how I would like my burger cooked and I asked for medium rare (fully expecting it to come more on the medium well side). Â However, when I received my burger it was cooked perfectly medium rare. Â You could also tell that the patty was hand formed with some fresh ground chuck. Â I was incredibly impressed by the burger - it tasted great. Â Definitely one of the better burgers I have had in a while. Â Also, the fries that came with the burger were awesome. Â They were like a seasoned fry and they gave you a ton. Â Overall, I was very impressed by my meal.
After dinner, we moved it over to the bar to have some drinks. Â It is a pretty nice, large bar area and the place was packed. Â I was kind of surprised to see how happening this place was. Â As an FYI, they have no light beers on tap - pretty much all imports, micros and craft brews. Â The bartenders were also pretty good and fast.
Overall, this place is great and is definitely a great addition to the area. Â I can definitely say that I will be returning. Â Aside from the prices being slightly high for the fare they serve, I really have nothing negative at all to say about this place. Â I am looking forward to trying some other menu items. Â Give this place a shot - I don't think you will be disappointed.
*3.5 Stars*
My gf and I have been waiting anxiously for this place to finally open. After many months of renovations we realized it opened a couple of weeks ago. It's located at the site of the former Willies Tavern. The inside was completely redone and looks a lot like the DH in Berkeley Heights. My gf and her sisters/mom and I decided to go early since we knew it would get busy (not many bars/restaurants in the area). We were lucky to get a seat right away. The menu's are back lit which is pretty cool (you will know what I am talking about when you see it). Same menu selection as the BH one as well. The server was prompt and friendly. We started out with a couple of apps. The calamari (very good, light, flaky and tasted fresh w/2 dipping sauces). Panko crusted shrimp were huge, meaty and good. Just enough for 1 each. They also brought out bread which was a good filler. Now for the entrees. My gf had the Rotisserie Chicken Salad which she was disappointed with (she can't say I didn't warn her :-)). Her one sister had Bourbon Glazed Short Ribs which she enjoyed (she was jonsing for them since she was screwed out of them at another restaurant). Her other sister the vegetarian had the Grilled Vegetable Platter which she really enjoyed (if it doesn't have meat somewhere in the meal I wouldn't get it but that's just me). Her mom went with the Farmhouse Salad which she enjoyed. I decided on being unhealthy as usual and had the Chorizo and Avocado Burger. Now it was really good and their fries are so addictive. The seasoning...yum! I could only muster half the burger which upset me. For dessert we split the Tiramisu, Banana's Foster and Warm Chocolate Brownie...all were good.
I must warn you that their prices are expensive. For example my burger was $13...and it wasn't like it was huge. All the meals were expensive too including the salads. That is the one down side. So be prepared to get a good meal but pay a good amount for it. There is a large lot outback for parking. They also have catering (for that lazy night and don't feel like going "out" to eat. It was packed when we left since be prepared to also wait. Go early if possible. Bar area looks really cool to hang out on a nice date. ENJOY!
