A comfortable restaurant with generally excellent food , acoustics can be a problem if they are busy . Don't sit at the tables by the bar if you want a quiet meal. Â Their salmon dishes have always been excellent , salads , wonderful.
Hamburgers are great and I don't normaly like hamburgers so they must be good , soups excellent but they don't seem to change very often.
Eggs Benedict , perfect and the best cappuccino in town.
Fish and chips , as a Scot I like my fish and chips , the fish is very good , Â the 'chips' wispy . For larger 'event ' dinners this is a good choice , the food is always superb ..
We go there at the weekends when service is usually outstanding .
Why only two stars ?. The service during the week is poor , three weekday visits over the last month have discouraged us .
If food is sent back to the kitchen barely eaten I would expect to be asked if there is anything wrong , particularly if the place isn't busy.
It was difficult to get wait staff attention until tip time when mood lightened .
On one occasion they mopped around us while we were having coffee ,  we had not been messy, no food fights and no other customers on either side  so this was just either stupidity , rudeness or deliberate  ignorance .
My biggest complaint was the last visit , I asked for the crispy skin chicken , vegetables and potato dish . It is very tasty although where they find such minuscule chickens I don't know , however it is enough food . I asked for no potatoes but maybe some extra vegetables and was told that it would cost more .
The Waiter, Manager and Owner all told me that this is Louise's policy  . Finally giving in and allowing me an extra generous tablespoon of vegetables.
I was told that their reasoning is that Vegetables are more expensive than starch. I respect Louise's cooking but if the expense of a tablespoon of vegetables becomes an issue its poor policy . Â As it was I received a few carrot slices and a serving of limp courgette/ zucchini . We know how expensive those are !.
For the first time in my long life I left no tip.
I shall only go there at the weekends or for dinners , lunch during the week isn't worth the hassle when the customer is always wrong . If its any comfort to them I was quite ill immediately after eating , I guess the vegetables didn't agree with me after all.
We heard great things about the food ans staff but when we arrived formourn6:30 reservation we were informed they had given our table away. We had asked to speak to the manager and he was rude and said, you will just need to wait 5 minutes. The 5 minute wait was not the problem, it was the way the hostess & manager went about it.
I wish we were able to try the food but we new it was going to be downhill from here. We went to another place that night & had a wonderful meal & the owner of this place was so nice &'treated us like family. Maybe the manager of Delius should take a page out of her handbook. Good luck
