I had never done any swing dancing before and I showed up at 8pm for the beginners class and stayed until the last dance. The instructors are really great and during the social dance I got to learn more steps from the better dancers and try out what I had just learned. I'm telling all my friends about it!
Review Source:I attended the last two Breezy Knees dances in Belmont Shores (Long Beach) -- this past First Saturday and last night (Monday), both great events, nice turnout of dancers, beginner to advanced, .... I just had a wonderful time.
There are four principals in this enterprise: Alice, Mary, Andrew and Conrad. Alice Pye and Conrad were my two (almost-) first teachers. At 8pm they have lessons at two levels: beginner and intermediate. I, of course, always opt for the beginner class because then I get to meet the new students, they are more at my skill level and I like dancing with beginners, after all, I am only a beginner, too, perhaps an advanced-beginner, but still ..... With beginners I get to practice new steps and improvisations without any fear of making mistakes, then I get to help them, which I enjoy, ... Then, there is nothing like seeing the smile of a lady experiencing her first swing in a fast-turn dance step. Swing dancers have big smiles when they are having fun, even bigger when major mistakes are made.
I love breezy knees! I have only been here once, but man was it fun. The location is wonderful--it's really close to the beach--and the ballroom itself is small but not overcrowded. The instructors and fellow dancers are all very nice and positive people and I never got the vibe that people were better than others. All levels of dancer will enjoy dancing here on Mondays nights!
