Loved the venue. We came here for dinner not knowing they had cover bands playing that night. It was a nice surprise, 80's flashback kinda thing.  We did have to pay $10 cover charge  even though we were here to eat dinner.
I did not care for the food. I had the Rockin' Chicken Bowl. It was very spicy without warning and I couldn't finish it. We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was drenched in a random sweet and sour type glaze, masking whatever natural flavor it had. I even tried my boyfriend's sliders. One had pulled pork... not very good, it was overly salted and seasoned. The food deserves only one star. Our waitress was not engaging at all. She was there to bring drinks and food, no connection.
I gave Gaslamp two extra stars solely for entertainment purposes as this is the only reason why I would come back. BTW, if you plan on using a Groupon here, read the fine print. We wanted to use $39 for $80 worth of food and they wouldn't let us because it had to be for 4 people or more. We had three. I don't think it should matter because our bill was close to $100 anyway. Whatever their reason, I probably wouldn't eat here again.
It was okay. I came here on a Friday night around 10 and paid 5 bucks for the cover. Knyght Ryder was playing and there pretty good, must say. It's all 80s songs and when they take a break and come back they play hip hop songs and requests. There's a dj that's there when the band breaks and after playing top 40. Music is good there but drinks are pricy.
First off the drink is like a water cup size and a Jameson and sprite was 8.50 and other mixed was 9. Literally two sips n I'm done. I don't mind if a drink is like 9 bucks but it has be worth it and not a freaking water cup either. Kitchen closes at 11, didn't know n was hungry but it was already 11:30. In n out is around the corner so I ate there after.
This place is okay, parking is good there's tons of space and the music is on point. The only buzz kill was the drinks. Do if I do come here ill probably pregame somewhere else then come here for some music.
Came here this past Friday night and had a great time. Was a bit skeptical of Knyght Ryder from their name, but they are a fantastic 80's cover band that had the bar rocking and dancing all night long. I don't even really like 80's music, but was impressed (the guitar player is awesome!).
A pint of Widmer ran $6, which is kinda high, but not surprising given the club atmosphere. We had a really nice bartender, there was plenty of places to sit, and the bathrooms were clean and even had an attendant. The patio area was also a nice place to get some fresh air. Free and ample parking were a huge bonus (being from SF, aka the parking hellhole of the world).
$5 cover after 9:30 pm, so get there early. If I lived in the area, I would definitely return. Sad to be missing Warren G. :-(
