Five Stars you are UP!!
This quaint venue, nestled on the Long Beach Harbor is a hidden gem for sure. The CA Wine Room is exactly that,a master bedroom sized room with a cozy intimate setting. Don't allow room size to intimidate you, because this venue only solidifies that "good things DO come in small packages"! To make the taste even sweeter, I stumbled upon their featured deal on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FLivinigsocial.com&s=7bef42ae24216c4851e0c764853cb12775be668e15cb11d9f91d742966a05aec" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Livinigsocial.com</a>, which advertised a three flight wine-tasting, accompanied with fondue tastings for two all for $14! I bought mines back in May and decided to make good on it this past weekend, so glad that I did!
The attendants were very attentive, courteous, and informative. They went out of their way to accommodate our visit there. What I enjoyed most was that they were "true to setting", they pride in serving local private winery/wines. So most of their wines were from a variety of small wine staples throughout northern and southern California. My boyfriend enjoyed the Red Zinfandel and I the usual Sauvigion Blanc, both delectable in taste. We conversed and rekindled with one another, as were served a variety of fruits on a platter w/ warm chocolate fondue in a cup for dipping. Live music played on the patio section where we sat and roasted our marshmallows skewers. We may have not had the chance to watch the sun-set but the warmth of the wine, and simple gazes were pleasant, so pleasant to watch the flicker of both the candle flame and low lights dance across his eyes. :)
Thank you CA Wine Room! See you soon!
I will rewrite this review if my visit is above and beyond, but for now this stands.
I also want to mention that this is the first one star review I have written.
My wife asked me if we could get an Amazon Local deal to this place and I said sure because we both like wine and even better, wine at a discounted price. Upon buying this seemingly lovely deal I tried to book a reservation (as per the instructions). The website took so long to load that I spent over an hour on it just to get my name in the reservation spot. After getting all of my information entered I came upon the portion that asks for the coupon code. I entered part of it and quickly got an error code. Ok, I'll try again. Half way there, error: invalid code. Ok, I'll do it really fast. One letter away, error. Great, takes over an hour to get here and I can't even enter the damn code because the website suddenly works in ultra speed. Alright, I'll try it one more time, super fast. Success! All of the code was ent-... what? invalid code? You've gotta be kidding. From here I tried cutting and pasting, with and without capital letters, dashes, spaces, you name it. Error after error. I finally decided I was defeated so I called up Amazon Local. A very friendly woman took my call, she tried to help me out but she couldn't get the code right either. She said that I had to deal with the restaurant itself. Alright, it's literally taken me hours to get this far, let's take it all the way. I call them up. Closed. "But!" they say, "We're open Friday, Saturday and Sunday!" That sounds really inconvenient, mostly due to the fact that it was Monday. Friday rolls around and I barely remember to call them, but I get through. I ask the guy to check my reservation to see if maybe it went through. No, you can't? oh, ok. Are you sure you can't? It can only be accessed on the internet? And you don't have the internet there? He directs me to try entering the reservation again. So reluctantly I do, and again it takes more than an hour. And no, it wasn't just my computer, I tried it on three different devices, two different internet connections. I call him back... Maybe you can help with my problem directly then... no to that, too, huh? Only Rachel in the office can help? So I take their info. He tells me he doesn't have her extension, but that I can listen to the options and she is one of them.
I call their office, no extension for Rachel. When I failed to select an extension it kicks me back to the beginning. Screw it, I'm sending them an email.
Email has been sent but I have yet to hear back. The general unwillingness to help, the horrific hours, and the worst website I've ever used (utility wise) make for a deadly trio. If i had not already spent the money on the coupon I wouldn't even bother with going there. I mean, you think that they would at least be able to pay a kid minimum wage to listen to their message machine and call people back to make reservations.
