Alex's Bar

A real punk rock bar.  

Alex is a stud.  He used to bounce the best live venue in the LBC (The Foothill) and now he runs the best punk bar in SoCal.

Both me and my friend dealt with credit card fraud after being here once. She spent $16 and I spent $35 here, and our charges at some place called 'corner bar b que' (in Tennessee...) started at those same charges. Sketchy as hell, BEWARE of this place if you're using a card. Someone here is actively committing fraud.

I give this place 5 stars for a bar and 2 stars for a music venue. The ambiance is nice when its not jammed packed so let's call it a 4.

Drinks: They have everything from about 50 different blended scotch whiskeys to 3 dollar well drinks. If you are a beer drinker like me, they have a rotating selection of craft beers as well as 3 dollar Pabst tall boys and 1 dollar Olympias. It's a great place to go with your friend that never has any money as he can drink all the cheap domestic he likes with the 20 bucks his Aunt gave him and you can drink something better.

Venue: The sound here sucks. It just does. Not a big deal if you're seeing your 18 yr old cousin's hard core band for 5 bucks. But when a bigger band plays and brings all their equipment it sounds like you're in an 89 Camry with a sound system installed at a swap meet. It also gets hot and muggy inside and starts to smell like ass if its crowded. Parking can be a bitch on those nights.

The People: Awesome. Except that douche who keeps singing ballads on Karaoke night. Screw that guy. This is one of the few places I'll go by myself and by the time the night is done I've made new friends. One time the guy sitting next to me ordered 100 Olympias. He announced to the 15 people there that night that we were welcome to have some but if we did we couldn't leave till they were all gone. All 100 were finished and I got a cab.
