This is THE D. It's not quite for everyone, but the charm (for most) is infectious. They've downsized to two pool tables to make room for a stage to feature bands most weekends. The cover is usually small, but then so is the venue.
The beer selection is surprisingly eclectic. You can get domestic "ultra" swill, keep it real with a PBR, grab a local staple, or even Aventinus. A full bar is available, but you already pre-partied, right?
The food is greasy and no-nonsense, bar bites at their best. The burger and fry basket is always a winner.
The folks that frequent the D are diverse. Early afternoon and evening are typically older regulars watching a game, cooling their heels after a day's work and stimulating our local economy via one the poker machines. As the night progresses the crowd becomes younger, especially if Linfield is in session. Friday and Saturday nights are standing room only.
Gentlemen, be prepared for close encounters if you have to break the seal. Ladies...I understand hovering is encouraged.
Pool, pool, pool.
We all need to get our
billiards on once in a while, right?
Psh, I haven't played pool since I was a little kid,
and it ended in a whack from my brother with a pool stick.
But, unbeknownst to me, I am quite the sharp shooter :]
So, we'd gotten our pre-drink on elsewhere that night,
so when he arrived, it was packed full
of the Wine-o's after a haute day at the vineyards.
Good music, good drinks, cool bartender
and no cover charge for the pool tables.
I'd do the Dirty D again.
