If you want great food and don't mind the wait (all food is made to order by Nick the owner who is in his 70's and a throw-back to when food was the most important part of a meal), go to DiMattia's - get there early and enjoy.
A bunch of our neighbors want Nick to do a "Throw Down" with Bobby Flay with his pork ribs. Â Wednesday is Rib Night - call ahead and reserve a rack because he makes a limited # of racks and they go fast. Â Fall off the bone and awesome flavor.
Dee, the most incredible server, is not the fastest but she is the best!
Try the Steak DiMattia. Â The long hot peppers won't burn your lips but will give them a tingle. Â The braised potatoes are to die for!
A lot of love is put in Nick's cooking. Â Sorry to see a bad review on Yelp. Â No one is perfect and sometimes when it's a large crowd/party, one doesn't get what they want in any restaurant.
Dimattias is straight out of an old mob movie. It is a local favorite , all items made to order by the owner. You may wait for a little while for your food bc of that, but it's worth the wait. It's basically the only lounge left in the area. The community is sometimes geared toward old timers who have been coming here for years... If you want to avoid that, and the wait, you cando a take out order. Â The bar pies/ tomato pies are amazing. Sad to see the only review of this place was a negative one other than mine! But this place is honestly awesome. Def worth a stop and a million times better than la piazza, the other "italian" restaurant in town.
Review Source:I went here for a surprise birthday party so I didn't get to order off the proper menu, but the items that I had were subpar at best. Â The salad was under dressed with only a hint of the fact there was some sort of oil & vinegar dressing on it. Â I had the veal parm which was soggy and mostly bland at best. Â There was not much in the way of draft beer with only four selections with Yuengling being the best choice. The saving grace of the place was the decor which keeps this from being one star. Â The first thing you see when you walk in is a full sized stuffed lion sitting in the hallway for what looks like no apparent reason. Â It is weird, but props for having such a crazy piece. Â The bar area itself is small, but cozy and it old but in a good rustic kind of way.
