Being a dessert rat, and from the Tombstone, Arizona area, I get enough of the touristy type places. However, in this town, it works! The food isn't consistent at all and ranges from okay to awful, but the atmosphere is awesome. The service is consistently EXCELLENT. Just wish the food was as well.

We were staying at the Strater and had a coupon for the Diamond Belle, so decided to give it a try after a day on the train. It was crowded and the waitress/callgirl told us to keep an eye out for tables opening up. It was rather awkward, as there wasn't anywhere to stand while we were stalking our fellow patrons to see who would get up first.

Once we found a table, the waitress was lovely and attentive. We got a beer and wine, both were fine. The meals were a French dip with fries (me) and the pot roast with mashed potatoes (my mom.) My mom loved her pot roast... said it was very tender and delicious! The green beans were crisp and crunchy - perfect. She had to salt her potatoes, but that's not uncommon for her. My French dip was just okay. I was surprised that the au jus had very little flavor, and the sandwich was the same. I ended up salting my au jus a number of times to get enough flavor in my dinner, which is very uncommon for me.

Overall, my personal experience was a 2-3. Not bad, but food was lacking, and the noisy saloon vibe is not my scene. My mom, however, raved. So, I'll even out the score to a 3.

Louis L'Amour stayed in this hotel.  That just makes me feel happy!  He probably had a drink here.  Most likely not the Cosmos I shared with my wife.  The piano player is great and makes the place feel like you are in a happy western saloon.

Get there at the right time and you can enjoy the gunfighters coming in a starting their argument, which flows out into the parking lot for a gunfight.  Happy hour wings and pizza are really good and cheap.

This bawdy "whore house" themed bar in the historic Statler Hotel features servers in fishnets and garters and music seven nights a week. We were here for a fun and serviceable bluegrass band, but in the summer you'll find honky tonk and sldie piano.

In any other location, this would be a schlocky prodcuction (Those of you old enough, think Shakey's pizza) But in this old hotel , it works well. Garters and corsets amid the aged mill work makes sense.  The drinks are stout and resonable, the atmosphere tranportative and fun.

Obviously a local haunt in the off season, we were witness to some carnal gay shannagins at the bar. Odd in a small town.

My wife and I both had the BLT for lunch and we both thought they were very good. The coleslaw comes with several different dressings. I had the wasabi and it was very tasty. I would definitely return.

I have nothing to base this on other than the cowboy shoot out - but we watched the shoot out from the street this evening and when the cowboys posed for photos with spectators they happily handled our toddler - who my husband thrust at them (to their surprise and mine!) They were good actors and played well to the crowd. I have no idea about the food or drinks - but it looked good and we'd like to try it sometime!

I was so disappointed this past weekend. I had family in town and wanted to take them here since I have had wonderful experiences in the past. The waitress forgot to take our drink orders. We never got our appetizer and the food took so long and the sandwiches were just okay.

Great green chile cheese burgers.  Good service.  It is always a great place to stop when in Durango.
