The kilts just throw me off. Nobody in Ireland actually walks around wearing kilts all the time - especially not slutty short ones and especially not working at a bar. I think it's tacky.
Other than that the food is fine. It's a dark pub feeling atmosphere. Great big outside eating area. Stumbling distance (hard to find in West Chester).
Good place to go for beers and sit on the patio.
From what I experienced, Dingle House is a pub, not a dinner spot. Â
Ambiance: TVs...everywhere. Â That part is fine, I wanted to watch the game. Â If you're looking to keep the attention of the people you're with, good luck. Â Also, The waitresses all wear short "kilts." Â Think Hooters, but with short skirts.
Service: Good, quick, and attentive. Â Granted it was expected since about only 3 other tables were full when the time we went. Â The food also came out really quick, which is fine since it probably doesn't take long to fry some fish and make a shepherd's pie.
Food: Â This is where it goes down hill. Â I got the fish and chips. It is part of their "Irish" menu and something they bold a lot on their menu. Â The fish and chips also comes with coleslaw. Â The slaw is drenched in the dressing. Â Every bite I had was about 3/4 dressing and 1/4 slaw. Â I may be exaggerating a little, but hopefully you get the point. Â The slaw itself wasn't too bad, but it would be a whole lot better if it was swimming in the dressing.
The fries were hot and thick. Â Crispy on the outside..and...good on the inside? Â I'm not sure how to describe the center of steak cut fries, but they were good.
Now the fish... Â I got one large sized steak of their haddock. Â When they say huge, it is probably the size of 2-3 normal fried strips of fish. Â The haddock itself wasn't bad, the problem I had was with the batter. Â It almost tasted like I was eating a stick of butter. Â Half a day later it still feels like I ate a stick of butter, I just didn't taste much of anything else with the batter. Â The other bad part about the fish is I now have a huge grease spot on my pants where i dropped it...but that's not the reason Dingle House gets two stars.
If you come here for a meal, try to reconsider, the food is just alright and fairly pricey for the lack of flavor. Â The beer is also fairly expensive, $4.00 for a bud light. Â If you want to come and watch a game and have a beer or look at waitresses in short skirts, give this place a try. Â Otherwise I wouldn't suggest coming.
