The club was packed after Northhampton Pride. Â However, it got very stuffy in the club and the only place to get air was a patio full of smokers. Â I asked the front if I could step outside briefly for fresh air and return. Â I was told by the people in front that there's a no re-entry policy which I have never seen at other clubs. Â The owner really needs to do something about improving the air circulation in this club or providing a smoke-free patio. Â Or just do away with the no re-entry policy for people who paid the cover earlier in the night. Â That would make the visit more enjoyable.
Review Source:I've only been to Diva's once, and it was probably the most bored I've ever been. we were going with another couple who genuinely likes to dance. at this time both my girlfriend and I were under 21, so there really was nothing for us to do but make out in a corner. the making out was great, but the club itself was miserable. as we were under 21, we had to pay a huge cover, and some weird douches at the door were like "omgggg how can you be under 21, ew you're fug, lol!!!"
there was some lady on stage shouting at people that they needed to dance, and it just got sadder and sadder. the dance floor was pretty empty and they were playing the most awful music, then switching songs about a minute into the song. I think a lot of the girls there were high school age or younger, and there were a few skeezy men around. Some lady tried to do an elaborate dance step off a wall, and she almost accidentally hit me and my girlfriend while we were making attempts to dance.
I'm sure it's better on a night that is busy. either way, the cover grates on me. we left after an hour, thankfully.
Every time I've gone to Divas has been a pretty good time. Â Some of the music they play is good, some of it isn't, but most of all I just wish it wasn't so inconveniently located. Â Divas is the kind of place that would fit in perfectly in downtown Northampton, and yet it is a good 15 minute walk from there. Â It's not easily noticeable from the street, either. Â
Divas usually draws a decent crowd...during the school year. Â I went one time after classes were over for the semester, but before graduation, and the place was still half-deserted even at midnight. Â There's no cover if you get there before 10, which I've never done, and I have a feeling that the place would be completely deserted.
Maybe its because im in my mid-twenties but I went here for the first time last night with a coworker and had an awesome time. The drag show was really good. The crowd is easygoing, drinks were reasonable. I agree the cover is a little much but at least you dont have to pay for parking. I don't know if it always is but last night (wed) was 18+, which is a little disappointing (I don't like youngins eying my drinks). It had its ups and downs but where im from in Sturbridge the night life is rather limited. In my opinion its worth the drive. Diva:s may not be right for everyone but its worth trying out.
Review Source:Interesting capitalist concepts, totally taking money from stupid new-to-bars teenie boppers which makes sense. Overpriced cocktails as well as dollar PBRs in teenie baby sippy cups. Kinda amusing to watch a pretty rude bartender jigger all the ingredients in an around the world and still not know the recipe of this $10 beverage. Â
Good place to go if you feel like dancing next to someone born in 1993 Â but instead want to throw all your money towards rude door people, bartenders, DJs, and in support of a place that continually is running into the ground. Understandable in the rudeness department since they can't have their youth back and that is how they spend their weekend, being miserable.
I visited this club while in Amherst for a conference. I was grateful to see other colleagues and friends from the conference there but the club for me was less than satisfactory - mostly because the DJ was overwhelmingly rude and played music no one seemed to enjoy. In fact he single handedly managed to empty the club by 12:30. He made rude comments to people on the dance floor, racially motivated comments about artist of color and when it was time to leave he forcefully intimidated us standing/hovering over us and clapping in our faces. In addition the strobe light that was going off all night was seizure inducing. Â If I returned to DIVAS it would be because they replaced the DJ or sent him to some kind of DJ sensitivity training course & got rid of that awful 70s inspired lighting.
Review Source:Oh no! Divas? Really? My first experience was and will be my last. Lets start with the bar to the right as you walk in. That blonde girl was a hot mess. Poor thing, took forever to get her attention, she couldnt remember any drinks, took forever to close my tab, and after I went to take a sip... it was totally watered down! Maybe it was just cheap cranberry juice? The music was decent, you know the usual Beyonce and Rihanna. But then they went a step further and continued to break into songs midway through with other songs. Awful.
I went on a Saturday night... and it was full of young immature kids. You know the ones that run around and scream when lady gaga comes on. I guess if your desperate, you might have a good time!
Oh yes, I forgot to mention there was a cover. I think it was either five or eight bucks a person. I don't pay a cover to real clubs... why did I pay one to go here? Save that eight bucks and go to the zoo. You'll have a better time. Just don't forget the cocktails!
Fuck you, its Northampton, not Boston. Why am I paying an outrageous cover again? So some no name DJ can play something that sounds like a bad pandora channel? So I can see your beautiful decor (lol, just kidding this place is fucking ugly). Yeah, I've been here and I'll be back, but don't think for a second I like you Divas.
Review Source:Used to be a great place for Techno and House but then the Lesbians can't dance to that so they started Hip Hop which took over and of course is more mainstream. Â So the place tried to go upscale and went through many design changes over the years. Â Some nights the cover was huge for nothing. Â Don't know how they justify that. Â But it's always a safe place, no fights ever and usually you will see the same people milling around since its the only good club besides trekking down to Springfield which nobody wants to do late at night lol. Â Had a lot of fun here over the years and now that I'm outta town I do stop in when I'm back in town on business and its fun.
Review Source:Divas is Northampton's nightclub. By that, I'm not referring to its location (because if I was, it would be a little more centrally located), but rather how well it reflects Noho's "anything goes" attitude. LGBTQ(and everyone else) friendly. I don't go often but have a pretty good time whenever I do (but let's face it, clubs get significantly less fun when you're not single). I'm looking forward to this being one of my first drinking spots.
Bring cash to get in the door. After that, your credit card will do.
I am a fan. I absolutely love dancing to techno and house music and whatever else you want to call it. If you're one of those people who make fun of the "oonze oonze oonze" or "dooosh dooosh doooosh twerpty duuu" beats of techno, this place is not for you then.
I love how there was such an eclectic crowd here and how Divas is also LGBTQ friendly.
I came here when there was a UMASS EDMC event and the line was from the front door to the parking lot. I just wished that admittance was a bit faster, but it's understandable. I really wish that it wasn't packed with bimbos who tried to cut me. I'm just saying, don't be surprised if you trip down the stairs, because I'm just as cold as you and I'm waiting in line patiently.
The bartender was super nice and super patient.
I really like Divas, I just wish they had two floors, or some kind of extra dimension to the space, instead of the one flat square level. But Divas is definitely a place I would recommend and come back to!
A below average club with occasional theme nights - goth, college, gay, drag, karaoke, etc... two ill kept bars, an oddly shaped dance floor with giant carpet covered posts at perplexing intervals, a raised area at the end of the room for a stage... overcrowded at the best of times, disturbingly dead at others...
Pretty much the only truly late night offering in the Northampton area... benefits greatly in popularity from this fact... most of its patrons are extremely young or of such an age it's disturbing to see them in a club of this ilk...
If you're looking for easy pickings in the midst of a mollycoddled night life, Divas is the club for you...
You're in the Valley and looking for nightlife? Yea, good luck, this is about it. In my UMass days, I'd come here for Haven (the Tuesday-night Goth nights), which weren't anything special but at least it was something to do. Â The crowds are laid-back, the music can be hit-or-miss and the drinks are reasonably priced. Diva's is the go-to place if you need diversion.
(Watch out for those steps in the winter though, I've seen people take some nasty spills!)
I've only been here once, but it was a good time. Â Go here if you want to dance to good music without being groped by thick-necked frat boys (a la Monkey Bar or any Springfield club). Â There were drag queens there that looked better than most of the girls. Â Definitely better than me.
Review Source:One of the only Queer bars/club in Western Mass. Â Of course, you'll find your group of straight people as well. Â Different music everynight and themed nights as well. Â They also host cultureshock which is always something good to support. Â They have two bars in different rooms. Â The dance floor is crowded by the time it hits 11:30 or midnight. Â They also have a balcony. Â
Found my first girl crush here, she was adorable.
Diva's is pretty much the only club worth going to in Western Mass. It's got your goth night, your 80's night, and all sorts of gay nights. The music is pretty consistent, quality-wise (and content-wise, on 80's night; you can always expect to hear certain standbys, week after week), especially on Goth night. DJs Addam and Penelope are great. And, of course, $1 Pabst. You really can't go wrong.
