Good enough. Â Came here based on recommendation for best burger at Carolina Beach. Â I had a Spartan Burger and it was good. The rest of the family enjoyed their food, but some of the homemade chips were soggy. Seating is very limited: 3 booths on the family-friendly side, and 4 tables on the bar side.
Service was friendly.
We had lunch here today as first-time visitors. Won't be going back for food. Our sandwiches (burger for him, wrap for me) were so incredibly coated in grease that both me & my husband could only eat half of what we ordered. On top of that, our fries were full of grease AND very undercooked...couldn't eat more than a handful. We are no strangers to grease (c'mon, we are both from NC!) & I've never had such disguusting food before...it was truly on the border of being inedible. This was by far the worst $26 lunch I have ever had in my life. Would not recommend for food...possibly a beer or two or three later in the evening (if you don't mind a lot of smoke...)
Review Source:The Dive is exactly what you'd think by looking at it - your quintessential dive bar. They are very good at what they do - cheeseburgers, cheap drink specials, and Mahi tacos. On select evenings they bring in a DJ, they have free pool on certain nights, and board games out for you to play if you choose. Know what you're getting into before you go: extremely casual Carolina Beach clientele, a little... er, less than clean (but not dirty), and good - but minimal - service. Great stop after a long day at the beach.
Review Source:Stopped in at The Dive on a whim cruising through Carolina Beach one afternoon and I would say that we enjoyed it overall. Â Not the cleanest looking place around, but pretty standard for a beach side bar and grille. Â We were there during an ECU game and the service was still pretty good overall. Â
Burgers were good. Â Nothing that I would say stood out from the crowd, but a well-rounded average burger. Â Nothing wrong with that I'd say. Â I would probably recommend this place more for hanging out at the bar than for having a meal. Â I'd consider getting another sandwich there, but not a place I'd pick for dinner.
Went here on a Monday evening to finish off a day trip to the beach. Â Food was pretty good... I got the loaded fries as an appetizer (the ranch dipping sauce was awesome) and the fish tacos for an entree. Â The tacos were actually really good... they had fresh avocado and salsa with the fried mahi-mahi... came with homemade chips which were also really good. Â I deducted a star because the service wasn't too great... I mean the poor waitress was doing the best she could, but she was a bit of a ditz.... i would def go back though!
Review Source:This place has outstanding service. Â Very casual, fun atmosphere. Â We came in with a party of 15 on a Monday night and the one waitress on duty called the owner and he came down to help wait tables. Â
Service was fast, focused and very friendly. Â The burgers are supposedly the best in the area and from the comments from fellow diners that seemed to be the case. Â However, the fish tacos I ordered were a disappointment. Â They were actually 'wraps' with lots of cheese and bacon (which I didn't expect) and completely overwhelmed the taste/existence of the fish.
For bar food, its exceptional. Â For dinner, not so much.
What an accommodating, fun place. We walked in with 6 people, which grew to 8, then 10, then 11. Each time, they moved more tables and chairs with a smile. We were also a little late for the main event of the evening, so we needed our food quick. Everything worked out perfectly. We asked them to bring the checks with the meals and they did. Very quick and pleasant service.
The food wasn't half bad either. Pretty normal bar stuff...wings, loaded fries, chicken tenders, various fried seafood items. All very reasonably priced and tasty. We will definitely be back when we know we can spend a little more time.
It looked like they have music on the weekend, they were just setting up as we were leaving at 8:30 on a Saturday night.
