Where do I begin? Cheap drinks, loud music and a place where everyone knows your name. This place owns stock in red cups and thankfully Tybee doesn't mind if you carry a cup of happiness out the door as you go.
When I go home I am often in here trying one of the many beers on tap, talking smack about my awesome pool game (no, not really) and placing bets on Georgia football.
Thank you for being my version of Cheers, Docs. Bonus: the bartenders will hold your hair. Just don't tell them I said so!!
I'm a fan of a dive and I'm a fan of Doc's. You can spend your entire day and night here or hit it up while bar-hopping. Keep in mind that their typical clientele is the retired (or soon-to-be) so your not usually going to see the same beach bodies on the inside as you just did on the beach.
Review Source:Ok I have to tell you some really good stories about this place. No, wait....I could be killed. Just go. Once you walk in (if your a Yankee or a city dweller) you might be tempted to walk out.BUT DON'T! First there is a chance you will meet the lovely Ms. Stone. Then there are Tybee folk most of whom you will fall in love with. So order a drink (PBR in the can) so you'll fit in.
Review Source:Doc's is the oldest bar on Tybee Island. Â They just celebrated their 60th anniversary in fact. Â It's a dive bar by every meaning of the term. Â The drinks were cheap, the locals were friendly. Â One guy bought the whole bar a round of shots (granted there were only about 7 people there at that point, but still).
Want to take your drink to go?? Â Just ask for a plastic cup, and they'll send you on your way. Â Who knew it's legal to drink on the streets?? Â Just don't drink in your car from what I hear. Â That's a no no.
Again, I think a place where you find the locals of the town is definitely a place to check out.
