Dirty and old. Some may call this charm. I call this a place that needs to invest some money in newer things... including staff. And why was all the food wheeled out on carts? Are the servers not capable of carrying plates in their hands? And then I was FIVE minutes after the cut-off time to receive the advance ticket price for the show. Â And even though I had taken time a week prior to call in and leave a message on their answering machine to "reserve" tickets, the old, pony-tailed guy at the door refused to give me the discounted price. Even after I told him I traveled 4 hours to get there. So Don Quixote's, you need...
a) a younger, friendlier staff
b) nicer furnishings
and c) a ticketing service that is from the 21st century for your live shows.
It seems odd to give this place two stars when I enjoyed myself there. This is an old school roadhouse kind of joint, run by and for locals, and it's cool and authentic for sure. The staff is warm and friendly and the service was good. The music venue is awesome, and has a pretty high rating for what it is, a very cool and eclectic place that books a lot of interesting acts, and we will return and return to that. It's a treasure to have so close by.
The food is the problem, it's overpriced, there's way too much of it on your plate, and it's just not very good. I had beef fajitas that were supposedly marinated skirt steak - no way it was marinated and it had that slightly gamey flavor of being a little past its prime. There was a mountain of it though, and two gummy flour tortillas wrapped in paper to peel off. Tepid rice and beans. My wife had bay shrimp ceviche tostadas that she said were 'ok', just a little bland. And once again, it was way too much food. We could have easily split either entree and that would have been plenty. If that's your bag though, party on.
The chips and salsa they drop on the table however were first rate - nice crispy thin fresh chips and a fine-textured fresh salsa. The margarita however was awful. It tasted like either limeade or soda gun sour mix plus well tequila. There's no excuse for a Mexican restaurant with a full liquor license to have a bad margarita in California when citrus fruit is literally rotting on trees around here.
I guess I'm surprised that they'd survive featuring a Mexican menu with a kickass Taqueria Vallarta right across the street, and I'm sorry to say that the next time we visit we'll be likely to be coming from Taqueria Vallarta, having just eaten better and more authentic Mexican food for less than a third of the price.
But I'll still be back! For music and a few beers.
I agree it's a very good place to hear music, since anywhere you sit you have a great view of the artists. You can wait a long time for service, though. Most importantly, I've eaten there a few times--once or twice without attending a music event, and once during a performance, and it was never good. The food is soggy and oily, and the nachos were not vegetarian, even though no meat was mentioned on the menu. I gave the 3 stars basically for the music; the food doesn't deserve any, and, honestly, the drinks aren't well made either--try a mojito or margarita and I think you will agree!
Review Source:Went to the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet today. It is $7.95 per person Mon-Fri.
The enchiladas (cheese) were tasty. The tacos were those pre-made shells and there was ground beef to put in them, cabbage, cheese. I would have liked to seen it better organized and more items for the  inside of the taco, maybe some guacamole? There was also chicken fajita to put in the tacos. There were beans and rice. I did not see any flour tortillas? Maybe I missed them. Corn chips and a variety of salsas were plentiful.
Good size salad bar. With the usual toppings. Desert were these off fried flour tortillas stuffed with sugar stuff.
It was good, for a buffet and I think its the only Mexican buffet in the county. I would not make a special trip to Felton, but if you are here, it's worth a try. Margaritas here are always good.
Walking into this place is a blast from the past. If you want to know what Felton use to smell like in the 1970's, this place is where you go to experience that scent. I think it's saturated into the wood paneling.
We just came here for dinner. Service was okay when you could get it. The only bad part of the restaurant being attached to a music hall, is that when they are getting ready to put on a concert (and you aren't there to see it), the wait staff tends to run off for long periods of time in preparation for the event. Then someone will come around and try to sell you a ticket, followed by your ears being assaulted by a sound check with the bass turned up so high that it makes both your brain and the snare drums rattle.
While we waited, we were briefly entertained by a large spider that decided to run across our table. I grew up close to nature so it didn't really bother me too much and the Mr. picked it up with his napkin to set it free into the fireplace (the fire wasn't lit so there were no harming of any spiders during this dinner experience).
For the restaurant portion not being very populated, our food did take a long time. I was sure hoping it was worth the wait but I can't really say it was. I got the enchiladas and well, it's pretty hard to ruin so it scored some points. Where it got weird is my husband ordered the spicy seafood stew, which I guess was new to the menu.
As he ate, employees would rush to the table and cautiously ask him how it was. He's trying to get over the plague that the kids brought home from their kindergarten class, so he couldn't really taste anything. He was just happy that it was hot and liquid. After the third person asked him, I got a little suspicious (why would they ask the customer about a new dish and not the chef?) and a little curious. I stuck a spoon in his soup and gave it a taste. After all, my taste buds were still functional. I warned him that it was not spicy at all and if anything, it was kind of gamy. He ended up pouring the salsa into the bowl for some more heat. Then he was really happy until the salsa brought his taste buds back to life and he actually could detect the flavor that I was talking about.
He described it as the flavor of catfish when the butcher fails to get all the scales off and then you cook it anyway. I thought that was spot on. Not that it had any catfish in it (it was supposed to be seafood so I hope it didn't) but it had that taste about it. Â Shame on the cook for letting this bowl of soup out of the kitchen. That soup must have been possessed because smelly fish burps haunted both of us the whole trip home. Â :(
TIP: If you are looking for alternative places to dine in Felton, check out the Cowboy Diner, Redwood Pizza or Taqueria Vallarta. Much, much better options!
NEVER AGAIN! Â I had a bad experience about a year ago with the manager - she was unnecessarily picky and downright mean. Â We had moved a chair to make room for a wheelchair and she was on the verge of kicking us out over it. Â We would have understood if we weren't the only group in the back room, very much out of the way. Â I returned recently for a concert and the same woman was there, arguing with customers. Â Bad scene. Â The band was good, at least.
Food is overpriced, average quality. Â Salad had some kale, which was nice.
The service was terrible both times. Â I usually don't care about quality of service, but it was notably bad. Â The staff seem edgy and depressed.
Coming from Watsonville, I have high standard for Mexican food. The chile verde tacos are perfect, topped with lime juice. Yummy. The chicken enchilada are huge, full of shredded chicken.
The salad bar was great also, the veggies were freshly cut. I was impressed with the fruit salad; freshly cut strawberries and kiwis.
There is also a night club connected to the restaurant, next time I think I'll come back during dinner so some chile verde and live music.
I saw a sign saying $7.95 all you can eat buffet and I just could not resist giving them a shot for lunch and am very glad I did! They had an extravagant salad bar setup with TONS of fresh greens / veggies / pasta / and even beet salad that you could tell was just made. I took the liberty of trying a little bit of everything and was surprised at the quality to price ratio. The tacos were awesome as well as the enchiladas I could barely drive home because I ate soooo much! Usually when I go to a buffet its 10+ bucks for mediocre food, but not here! I will definitely be going here again whenever I'm in Felton around lunch time!
5 Stars, Highly Recommended!
OK folks,
I think it is time for the Don to get a makeover. Clear tape on the broken toilet seat? No hot water in the bathroom? Â How about investing in ONE style of nice stackable chairs for the music hall?
Please turn on the lights after we leave and dust. Â Please repair and wipe the tables and chairs regularly.
And, if we are coming to hear music, don't MAKE us order off the menu if we happen to sit at a table. Â Tacky...
I have only been here twice, to see The Bobs. Â Otherwise, I would NEVER consider eating here. Â We had drinks and nachos which were fine but anyone can make nachos and pour beers. Our server was very attentive, hence the one star;nit's for him.
This place could be awesome if it were updated then maintained. I would love it and attend the shows and even eat a meal here!
This is my review on Don Quixote the restaurant as opposed to the International Theater.
We had table-side wait service while waiting for the unplugged music to begin. Â I picked a "special" that was added to the menu for the evenings special performance,
"The Beet Lover's Salad". Â It was scrumptious. Â A generous portion of beets, orange cara cara navel oranges(omgoodness-juicy and wonderful), Mexican dry cheese, Â onion and sunflowers served on a bed of fresh spinach with house vinaigrette dressing. Â I got the dinner salad portion rather than the entree. Â
I asked if the chips were homemade and got a positive response. Â We're not used to paying for chips and salsa but, when in Felton, do as the Feltonians do. We got a healthy serving of chips and the salsa, I think the best I've ever had quickly disappeared out of the white porcelain bowl. Â We asked for seconds.
Ugh, do not try and eat here people, haven't all the other reviews scared you off yet? I've been down a couple times to drink and go to shows. The drinks are semi overpriced, but the venue is fun, and there's lots of room to dance (therefore the 2 stars). However, seeing it in the daytime is quite a different experience.
I came one hungover afternoon with 3 friends to have bloody marys and tacos. The bartender could only make two bloodys before running out of ingredients, which is fine, its happens (yadda yadda) but rather try and offer substitutions or anything she just seemed rather annoyed with us. Whoops.
After some yum chips and salsa I ordered a chicken taco with rice and beans. It took a pretty long time to come out considering how dead the place was, and it was bad bad bad. Soggy cardboard flavored chicken bad. I don't think anyone really enjoyed their food.
I think this place could be great, maybe if they narrowed down their menu and focused on the quality of ingredients. But it seems like they make enough money on shows to not care about the food. Overall, I think I'll hit up the taqueria across the street for food.
The "no substitutions" rule is absurd and ridiculous!!! Â I came in with my boyfriend for brunch cause he was craving huevos rancheros... I asked if they could add an egg to the veggie quesadilla and was rudely told "no". Â Seriously??? It's laziness on the part of the entire staff!! I couldn't even order a veggie quesadilla with a side of fried eggs, cause eggs aren't a "menu item". Â Honestly, just awful. Â Boycotting and telling everyone.
Review Source:I would definitely never come to this restaurant just for a meal. Despite being scared by some of the other reviews on here, I didn't think the food was terrible. But I did listen to the warnings and played it safe and got chips and salsa and a veggie burrito. It was fine for the price. The restaurant itself is kind of old and dusty. Not very appealing.
However, the music/dancing area is great! It's really small and intimate and you can get right up close with the band. It was a very mixed crowd but I didn't really care as my friend and I danced the night away! Will definitely be back if a good band is playing.
I was invited to this restaurant for someone's birthday and had never heard of it before. I was warned about its nature and a little about past bad experiences but there was nothing I could do and nothing I could say before experiencing it myself. =/ Eeek! It was intensely loud the second we walked through the door. Â The atmosphere was not inviting at all. Â I became slightly scared and did not know what to expect next. We were taken through this seemingly long way around to get to our table, not through the bar, even though our table was on the other side of the wall of the bar! Our group was the only diners (a scary sign) BUT one other couple came in during our entire time there. Phew!
There was a band playing, loudly, that we could see from our table. Â They were playing some good classic rock songs that were fun to hear. Â There were people dancing and drinking on the dance floor, enjoying themselves. Â But yelling across the table to everyone was not very fun at all. Our waitress even had a hard time hearing our order and had to lean in so close to hear us. We averted the issue by then having to point to the item on the menu we wanted. Oook..
So we settle in to wait for our food and listen to the band because talking to each other was out of the question.
Settling...
Settled..
Waiting.. Still waiting...
Our food took forever! We were the only ones, I don't understand why it would take as long as it did. Â Our waitress was nowhere to be found to ask her about it either. We thought about getting up and looking for her, she seemed to be the only employee besides the bartender.
When we finally got our food, there was a question about the chile verde being a funky brown/red color. Â Chile VERDE.. hmm.. To which the waitress answered, "That is the chile verde, that's just our sauce." Umm... ok, no. Â
The food was not exciting. Large portions to compensate for flavor, no thank you. When boxes were wanted for some in the group, surprise, she was nowhere to be found for awhile. But finally asked for boxes, bags, the check, everything. Â
And the worst thing happened at the very end when I was talking to someone who was sitting right next to me. The waitress returns with the credit receipt but has to give it to someone opposite her, sitting in the corner. So she steps inbetween us talking and reaches over the table to hand it to him and I look up and THERE'S HER ARMPIT IN MY FACE! GROSS!!! Â I was disgusted. She could have given it to anyone to hand to him. She could have left it on the table and told us it was for him. ANYTHING ELSE!
Will I be going back? Let's not be ridiculous..
Yes, its rustic and has a definite road house feel.  But where else can  you get 10 feet from a world class artist and actually shake the persons hand after the show.
First the down side. Â If you are looking for good Mexican food, its not your optimal place to stop. Â There are better options elsewhere. Â And it could use a bit of upkeep, but that is part of the charm of the place.
I have never had the wait that people mention in other reviews for drinks. Â Their beer is reasonably priced if you are going for a premium brewery (I'm not a budweiser gal folks). Â and if you nab a table at a show, you do get wait service. Â The bartenders have always been nice and chatty the times we've been here.
When you walk in you have to wonder why national and international acts tend to come here again and again. Â The sound is wonderful in this place and thankfully, the audience is usually there to listen to the music as opposed to trying to score a date for the evening.
I've seen everyone from my friends bands to the California Guitar Trio (who we got to have an extended conversation with between acts, great guys btw). Â Its not Yoshi's but it is a diamond in the rough in the middle of the Redwoods.
Word to the wise..parking can be creative. Â Don't park in the New Leaf Lot--you will get a ticket or be towed.
Maybe it was just bad timing on my part but I am not to impressed with this place.
I came here for an after wedding party, with some of the wedding crew including the bride and groom. They had live music.. and want to charge you $10 to dance, when you can hear the band playing from the bar.. weird.
I then went to buy the bride a drink from the bartender. She carded me while I already had a drink in my hand, and had already been carded 10 min prior. Then I told her I was buying a drink for the bride.. in hopes she would make it extra strong... instead she asked me if the bride was 21... and almost didn't serve me the drink.
Maybe I was too drunk, or maybe the place sucks, can't quit tell. Anyways I don't think I will be returning anytime soon.
Bad food and bad service. Â We do not usually complain about restaurants, but this place takes the cake. Â Â
After explaining to waitress Elaine that the food was not good, she yells "Well you shouldn't have ordered what you ordered." Â Then, she explains, "you two should really go to college so you don't have to do what I do when you are older."
Seriously, there are much better places than this, including Taco Bell. Â At least at Taco Bell you go in already expecting average service.
Food gets one star, music venue gets four. Average 2.5, but you can't give 1/2 stars here, so three.
Think of Seinfeld's soup Nazi episode. If you do it right, you get awesome soup.
One of the reviews here recommends Taqueria Vallerta across the street -- EXCELLENT SUGGESTION!
Don't eat here. Don't order well drinks here. Bottled stuff or on tap only and shows only. THEN you'll have awesome time.
The venue is great for shows and you get in and out privileges which most places don't afford you. The booking agent knows his music and has connections with acts that wouldn't otherwise show up at a slow cranky hole in the wall in the mountains (a five time Grammy artist yesterday!!!).
In short minimize your contact with the slow, cranky service (except Sandy, she's somehow friendly and nice amidst all the old slow crank) and you'll do fine.
Music, sounds, acoustic are great - sorta in a tavern type setting.  Small, quaint, intimate  place.  Must get here early for reasonable seating or standing room only.  This place is as old as the workers:)  They seem to be overwhelmed with all the people, bar line for drinks are reasonably long while barmaids slow and cranky. Â
Friendly guest, visitors  from all over the area.  Come an enjoy a laid back environment and for some so, so Mexican food which we skipped. Â
This place has lots of potential. Â Simple move the sound booth to the right side next to the kitchen exit and knock that wall behind the sound booth and everyone has clear view of the stage.
Definitely worth coming here again just for  the music and small dance floor.
The consistent review here is:
Food sucks
Music is good
Drinks are over priced
This is my experience and I have been going ever since Tom Miller moved from booking music at Henflings to Booking here (Henflings lost their liquor license and closed for awhile prompting the move).
Under no circumstance would I go to Don Quixote just for food. Â The staff is nice enough, but the food is mediocre Mexican food at best. Â Sometimes Taco Bell is more flavorful (I don't eat either if I can help it).
If this were strictly a music venue, it would be a 5-star venue for the acts Tom books. Â I've been attending show Tom has booked for nearly 15 years. Â
My recommendation - eat elsewhere and if it is a popular show, eat early to get there with enough time to get a good seat.
I've seen quite a few shows here and had great experiences, however I never show up hungry and I'll explain why. The first time ate here with a group of people and ordered the chicken taquitos only to feel sick all night and throw up later that night. I had a single "well" cocktail with dinner, could have been gasoline because it tasted like garbage, oh and did I mention the food was also garbage. I learned my lesson to never order a well drink  (usually drink beer) or eat their food. The waiter was incredibly impatient and pushy, I've seen the same guy a few times since there and hes always pushing people over to get around. Last night at the Michael Jackson cover band show I watched him grab my girlfriends shoulders and lead/shoved her out of his path. I recommend this place for live music but not for the food, eat before you show up!
Review Source:Like almost everyone else, I wish there was the ability to rate the restaurant separately from the music venue, but I had a somewhat different experience with both than many have apparently had.
We showed up around 6:20 PM to buy our advance-purchase tickets for Laurence Juber (who was fantastic!). There was no one at the door, and the dining room hostess advised me to buy my tickets from the bartender. Â No problem there.
Decided to eat supper there before the show, because there were dining tables set up in close proximity to the stage, and they mentioned that if we ate at one of those tables, we could keep the table through the show instead of moving to the folding chairs that were set up. Â Again, no problems, and we therefore had GREAT seats for the show!
The food wasn't as bad as I was expecting given what some others have said about it... although I would definitely NOT come here just to eat dinner! Â It was very overpriced ($44 including tax and tip for one entree, a large appetizer, and 2 beers) and rather bland. Â Although I didn't try the calamari, my son, who is a big calamari fan, said it was "rubbery".
Service was slow, but not inattentive. Â We never had to ask twice for anything. They seemed very understaffed for the crowd, and the staff they had were certainly doing the best they could.
I thought the sound was very good; it didn't seem over-loud, even right up close to the speakers as we were. Â The stage itself looks a bit shabby (ripped carpet, maybe could have used a vacuuming, that sort of thing).
At one point in the show, when LJ was talking to the audience, he and we noticed that we could hear the loud Mariachi music emanating from the kitchen. Â To their credit, they seemed to address this problem immediately, but it was an embarrassment to the establishment, IMHO. I hope they talk to the kitchen staff about not repeating this kind of thing.
All in all, a good evening with great music. Â Yeah, I'd go again for the right show, but I'd probably skip the food.
Until I go again, I'm giving Don Quixote's 5 stars for music and 3 stars for food.
Great venue for live music! Small, intimate, funky vibe. I've been twice, both times for Stan Ridgway (Wall of Voodoo) shows, and had a great time. It's a rare place where the acoustics are good, you can sit at table quite close to the performer AND be served dinner and drinks.
Although I did eat there both times, I really can't recall the food. I'm sure we enjoyed the chips and salsa, and our Mexican dinners were okay -- not memorable, either good or bad. We drank beers, so I can't vouch for the drinks either. Sorry to hear that other Yelpers have had such bad experiences, 'cause I really dig this place.
I wish I could rate the restaurant/bar/music venue separately. Unfortunately I can't. The music venue would get 4 stars. DQ is a very good place to go for live music. It takes over where Henflings left off a few years ago after closing for awhile.
The food would get 2 stars. I ONLY eat in the restaurant if there are no other choices before a live music show. The food is really lousy. I have had chicken dishes and veg. dishes and none are good. The service always seems like you showed up just as they are opening and not ready to serve yet. But this is ALL THE TIME. They never seem ready to serve food.
The drinks are awful. Never order anything "top-shelf" it is going to be just as lousy as the regular drinks. I ordered a "call" margarita the last time I was there and it tasted like a margarita does after it sits there for 30 minutes, watery and flavorless. This is the norm for DQ margaritas. You are better off sticking to beer.
I sure wish that Don Quixote's would get a clue. They would have a lot more business if their food and drinks were good. It would be a place to hang out after work even when there wasn't a live music show to wait for. They have lots of space, a good location, and what could be, a nice atmosphere (fireplace, curved bar with lots of seats, a cozy feeling). Instead, everything comes off as an afterthought. Everyone I know that frequents the place for music, thinks the same thing about going there, "I guess we have to eat there so we get a good seat", and "just get beer, the drinks are bad". Someone who knows the purveyors, PLEASE tell them that this is the common feeling. I would love to go there regularly if the food and drinks were good, and the service passable.
I went here for my friends 30 Bday party and her man was playing in the band.
I guess they got a hard time making the reservation and when they got there, there wasn't anything set up.
We ordered drinks and half of them showed up. Most of the time we just went to the bar to order because the waiter was nowhere in sight. About 30 minutes after sitting we finally got to order.
We had to fill our own chips and water while we waited. 30 minutes later we got our food. My son and I both got veggie plates and felt sick the next day!
It was a bad dining experience and I will NEVER be back. There are way too many good mexican restaurants in Santa Cruz to venture to Felton for that!
Beatles tribute band aside (they were great- though, it took the restaurant a while to get the sound right for them) this place is really, really aweful.
I needed water and our server asked my boyfriend's mom if she was going to drink hers...and was not kidding- further suggesting that it  would be easiest for her if she sacrificed her own water for me. WHAT THE! I couldn't believe it!
The server was really whiney and I think it's because she was responsible for so many tables but I shouldn't be making excuses for her. She was negligent and unfriendly.
The food is overpriced for what it is- stale, bland, overcooked and aweful. I ordered a vegetarian burrito (after reading about the terrible meat here) and it was all rice with a dallop of guac on top. disgusting.
The boyfriend had pork carnitas and said they were "really dry" and not completely gross but he wouldn't order them again.
Oh yeah, as for drinks, you're best to go up to the bar yourself because service is tragically slow. The bartender is too but not quite as bad as waiting at your table.
I took my family here for dinner, much to my regret, and found it to be really bad in just about every way imaginable. Â I'm not too picky, but (1) our waitress acted like we ruined her evening just by walking in -- it was not busy at all (a red flag we missed), but she never smiled and was very rude and indifferent; (2) the food was horrible, and my chili relleno tasted freezer-burned; (3) the horrible food was extremely overpriced, nearly twice as expensive as far-better food at places like Manuel's in Aptos. Â
I've never been here for the entertainment, but that's the only reason I'd ever step foot in this place again. Â DO NOT EAT HERE!
An interesting place for sure. Met an old friend here the other day for lunch - our goal was to catch up with each other, so the slow service was a blessing.
There are various large rooms inside, the main bar (where we were), what looked like a proper dining room, a room with a stage in it (where presumably the live music others allude to occurs) and what looked like a couple of smaller rooms too, but I didn't actually tour the place.
The bar had a lot of taps on it, but maybe only one of them was actually working - the few folks at the bar were almost all drinking from bottles.
We sat at the back of the bar room and chatted away. We got chips and salsa (nothing special) and some menus - it must have taken us the best part of an hour to order, but the folks didn't mind, popping back every 20 minutes or so to see if we were ready.
The lunch menu had a hamburger and fries on it, and it just appealed, so that's what I had. It was a pretty good burger and the fries were that "seasoned" style of fries and were tasty too - and the portion was large.
An eclectic place in an eclectic location - definitely worth a look see if you're in the area.
We did not eat at the restaurant, however we came because of the music venues.
Its refreshing to find locations for American Roots Style music and we were able to see Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe who's home is Lawtell LA in St Landry Parish about 45 minutes from Lafayette which is Zydeo-Cajun Country.
A nice dance floor, a great sound system and resonable price for entry $8:00 pre-paid and $10:00 at the door.
It was was fun dancing, a nice crowd of Zydeco fans and the club was friendly in downtown Felton on Hwy 9.
For other acts visit <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.DonQuixotesMusic.com&s=1c52e99b145871131a3ce950de31e2fb9fb9f445f6a455f33281586fbc523825" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.DonQuixotesMu…</a>
Five stars for the acts they book -- what a mix...I've seen Peter Tork (!!), The Toasters and Glen Phillips here...all seemed to be a little surprised at the fact they were performing at a Mexican restaurant, but it's a great little place to see acts that might play larger venues in SF (GAMH, Indepedent).
The food - not great. Â Purty terrible, in fact. One star. Â If you get hungry, get a bowl of soup, avoid the Chili Verde, in fact, avoid everything else. Chips and salsa are ok.
The bar - kind of cool - if it weren't 30 minutes from my house and along a winding road, I'd spend more time here.
So this place is pretty funny, at least my experience.
So I have been a few times and each time I wished the food/drinks would be just a tad bit better.
The bar:  So the bar is almost sparse in a lot of ways and I didn't feel that they had a great selection, but the prices weren't so bar.  I don't think they have beer on tap though, or maybe just  a few.  The bartender had a quirky personality but was nice and friendly.  The bar felt pretty drab though.
Go into the main room and that's the dining area and here's the funny part, go on a weekend and they have live music. Â But if you don't pay to see it then they sit on the side where there is a curton. Â BUT its so loud, you can hardly talk to your friends. Â So pay and you get to see the cheesy band (at least when I went ) or don't and you still get to hear every note. Â Weird and silly, yes.
The food is pretty bland, especially with everything you can do with awesome Mexican food, I've had the chilly reano and I've had the echilada, very bland, so spice and kind of pricey. Â The drinks are water down, for ordering a pitchure of margaretas, there was no kick, I was drinking slushy.
But I will say the staff was nice and attentive, it was clean and had a fun atmosphere, but its Felton . . . . .
Love this place.
I've never more than chips and salsa here, but I HAVE been blessed to see amazingly entertaining acts and shows. Â
A lot of great local SC artists come through this purple & pink nightclub-restaurant, as well as traveling acts i.e. The Vagabond Opera, and my favourite man on Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe record label: Hamil on Trial.
Its just 15 minutes out of Santa Cruz, and so worth it for affordable shows, cheap Mexican beer, and a fun-tastic time out for all ages (depends on shows) in the good ol' town of Felton.
Gotta love the mountain crowd.
