My parents raised my other siblings in Beattyville and took me back here to see where they once lived. Â We stopped by The Purple Cow because my parents used to go there when they were younger. Â I ordered a burger and fries. Â Simply put, they were good ole home cooked burgers made by someone who knew what he/she was doing. Â They melted in my mouth they were so good, and the fries were crisp and salted to perfection. Â Since my parents are in ill health now, I think back to the good time we had that day and specifically at this restaurant and it brings a smile to my face. If you want an awesome cheeseburger and fries, go here. Â It's much better than the nuked, processed, fast food version you find nowadays.
Review Source:I like this small and cozy restaurant mainly because of its cuisines. Hopefully, you can find local foods which are healthy in there and I prefer it to any kind of restaurant chain. The people who eat there are typically locals and they have a good choice of sandwiches, dinners, and deserts. This restaurant is perfect for seniors or those concerned with what they take in. The restaurant is not fancy with a lot of bells and whistles but it does the trick for healthy eaters like me.
Review Source:A historic restaurant, operating since 1930s, it still has a historic touch to it. A purple cow motif runs throughout the whole place: there is a big painting of the purple cow on the wall, little statues of the cows everywhere and the furniture with a touch of old times to it. This place is family-oriented and features "country cook'in", as the sign puts it. Everything is cooked from scratch and Soup Beans and corn bread are big hits! Definitely a place to visit, when you are in town.
Review Source:Since the 1930's this restaurant has been serving some of the regions finest "country cookin" for reasonable low prices. The soup beans and corn bread is apparently a town favorite and very popular among the locals. Â From the cooks to the servers the staff is extremely gracious and hospitable. Â It isn't the most modernly furnished place as I believe some of the tables could have used some remodeling, however it adds to the rustic and historic atmosphere. I had a fantastic order of French toast along with some specialty home fries and it was great home cooking!! Â If you are in downtown Beattyville looking for a bite to eat consider stopping in here!
Review Source:Cheap diner food! Yipee! Friendly service, but the food isn't really anything to write home about- I had an egg sandwich that I could've made at home, but the convenience of not having to make it myself and its low cost made stopping here worth it to me! Â In my opinion- if you're in the area, go to Kaydee's Kitchen!
Review Source:If you're looking for country style cooking, in a small town diner atmosphere then this is the place to go. They have a fairly good variety of different items, and the prices aren't bad either.
And how can you pass up a place called "The Purple Cow"
I don't know why Dooley had to slap his name on there.
