The food and the music here is good.
The Dubliner is a great place to just come and hang out with friends and hear good live music.
When you walk in, you will notice that the clientele tends to skew a little younger, but the bar itself is still fun.
They have a great beer selection, so you'll be sure to find a brew that you like.
I like that in the midst of all the traditional South Tampa bars you have this gem that strays away from the norm, but always deliver good times.
B. Major Grade: Â A+
This bar used to be cool but now it's a shell of its former self. The bar staff are nice but slow so you can never get a stale beer and their selection is less than thrilling. The establishment has always been a dive but now I feel any wrong step could be a step through their rotting floors. The bathrooms wreak. The live music used to be unbelievable but has taken a huge step backwards too. Nobody wants to hear a douche bag butcher great songs and play wagon wheel 6 times a night and talk like he's gonna be famous (don't make me laugh!). I would recommend passing on this place.
Review Source:The Dub gets four stars just for the fact that its a "get away" in SOHO... for the most part. be sure to make it to the bottom of the review, or read it backwards. Whatever.
Beer selection is decent. Â I am pretty sure they have wine, but if you are a wino, you are definitely in the wrong place. Â The Dub is pretty empty on weekday nights and flooded on Friday's and Saturdays. They have small TVs, so not that great for a sports go-to.
Now the good stuff -
In a neighborhood full of money, the Dubliner provides a nice get away. Â Extremely friendly, laid back bartenders make it all worth it. Â The red-haired bartender would make it worth your while by himself with amazingly quirky dirty humor. They make you feel hell of welcome in a neighborhood where if flooded with the most commonly normal people would make them fell out-casted. Indoor seating, huge patio, decor is to the tee, not too perfect - what one expects of a pub. Live music on weekends is always found.
Pizza is great - steak and Gorgonzola cheese all the way. Â Ask for the BOSS BURGER - a little off-the-menu secret goat cheese stuffed burger served with sweet potato fries with cinnamon and honey. Their regular burger could easily compete as the best in Tampa. Definitely stick to these things on the menu. Â
Definitely go by. You wont regret it.
Dubliner, a friendly and very lively bar I've grown especially fond of over the years. Â Probably the only drinking joint with lots of character in the overwhelmingly popular "Soho" district, they also boast some seriously awesome live music just about every night of the week. Â Bragging rights are understood as they have 44 beers on tap, ensuring they supply your most coveted brewskies. Â A large outdoor deck and a cozy indoor area, expect to be cramped but carefree as you sip on your yummy ale.
Dubliner has a strange love affair with some not-so Irish fare.  Though I've devoured their flaky fish n chips as well as their Sheppard's Pie...it is their pizza pie that will forever rank supreme.  My all-time, never fails, go-to...the Buffalo Chicken Pizza.  A crispy crust comes topped with mild, tangy buffalo sauce and is generously covered in mozzarella, fried chicken tender pieces and bleu cheese crumbles.  It is so divine, every time.  The Gorgonzola Pizza is also superb as is the fun and tasty Irish Nacho pizza.  Bring on the gluttony...it is so worth it with any of the three.
This place was a regular haunt for liter nights. A bit divey, but that made it cool. I ate something here a while ago that was absolutely forgettable. Might have been the loaded baked potater soup? Why haven't I had an Irish Car Bomb here? Do they have liquor? Left with more questions than answers, the only Irish thoughts this place conjures are of the Great Potato Famine.
Review Source:I have really been wanting to check this place out, so naturally it was a let down. However, the staff is quite friendly.
Sadly, it's just another bar. This one is one of those ones that smells of beer in the way that it's like they painted the walls with beer.
The outdoor patio is cool, though.
Very laid back location. None of the douchery that you might find elsewhere along South Howard. That being said, don't show up in your nicest clothing, because well, this place is more for the casual crowd. We spend our time there on the patio outdoors, which has a great, relaxed feel, but it's dirty. Tables are dirty, stools are dirty, etc. I did order food in spite of this, which was nachos and some chicken tenders. Both were meh. Nothing to brag about. I actually regretted getting food here as nothing seemed too appetizing. They had some good beer specials, so that's what we drank. And this was our starting spot for the evening. I'd go back if friends suggested it, but I had no problem passing it by on my last visit to SoHo.
Review Source:Recently went this past Friday night to meet up some friends. Â It was All You Can Drink from 7pm-9pm for $10. Â Needless to say, we were all quite happy when we left. Â The deal included almost all beers on tap and well-mixed drinks. Â For that price and the people, it's a pretty darn good deal.
Review Source:People often forget that the Dubliner is a restaurant and not just a great late night place for a Guinness. That's too bad because the food there is great. The pizzas are excellent and the Irish nachos are a combination of two amazing things--Nacho toppings and waffle fries. They also have traditional fare like Shepherd's Pie. I would recommend going there early in the evening to try the food before it gets too packed.
Review Source:Dubliner has always been one of my favorite bars in South Tampa because it is more laid back. Its generally less noisy so you can have a conversation with people, and I almost always like the live music. John has always been my favorite bartender, so I hope the place can keep up the great service now that he is no longer there. My one complaint is with the temps in the place. I dont think they ever use AC or a heater. When its in the mid 90s and humid close the doors and turn the AC on!
Review Source:They really need to clean this dump up. I mean it is filthy. Everything that is visible is dirty. And they serve food here, so can you imagine the kitchen? Pass by during daylight and the depth of the dirt will disgust you. They can't even be bothered to sweep the ciggy butts out of the bedraggled landscaping along the sidewalk. Yick.
Review Source:I've been to The Dubliner multiple times so obviously I don't dislike it too much. Â The only major complaint I have is the parking (but, really, what else is new in South Tampa?) and the sticky, well, everything inside. Â It's no exaggeration when I say that every single surface in The Dub is sticky. Â My foot sticks to the floor and I make sure to shy away from walls, tables, chairs, bars, etc. Â However, prices are awesome, pizza is even better (I recommend the Irish Nacho pizza- it has waffle fries on it!), and service is outstanding!
Review Source:I really do enjoy the Dub. It's laid back and much less douchey than many places in Soho. Everyone is there to have a good time, no drama... just beer. I seem to love the beer with blueberries a bit too much. The food is pretty damn good. It's an institution in Tampa...and for sure one of my faves.
Review Source:I hate going in the wrong direction, but twice in a row now I've had skunky beer here. If it wasn't for the great service and brews I've received before, I'd drop it even lower. But my last two visits here haven't been good at all.
I've been at the outside bar on both trips, and gotten a funny tasting Guiness and some other domestic. Not cool! I don't know if the lines need to be cleaned or if I just caught them on an unusually bad day, but I'm not the pickiest person about this kind of stuff. So if I notice it, it's probably pretty bad.
Plus it seems to take forever to get served, and those people behind the bar don't seem to be in any rush to help. I like a relaxed atmosphere, but I don't like standing at the bar for 5-10 minutes waiting for a beverage. Hustle up just a wee bit if you don't mind!
The Dubliner is an institution in Tampa, and I certainly don't want to see it go away. I've also heard from some friends that have worked there in the past that it's certainly rather lax in the employee directional department. But I'd also like to see them clean up the rough edges that seem to be getting rougher. It's been a great and authentic Irish pub in the past, and I hope that certainly continues.
On this night, my friends and I heard music and, of course, we naturally gravitated to the source. The source was Dubliner
Once in the Dubliner, we noticed it exuded a classic, authentic Irish pub feel. It was by far the most laid-back, intimate spot in the SoHo scene. The bar is somewhat small in the inside, but the outside is spacious enough to hold a band and its adoring fans.
Back to the music, the music was sweet symphony to my ears created by the artistry of Sound Spectrum. They are a soulful ensemble with a jazz and funk style. They did a rendition of Bill Wither's "Aint no Sunshine" and it rocked to the point I felt it in my very soul. Live music is always a quick way to a pub goer's heart.
Other then the music, the beer selection is good for the pub scene. Of course, it will not come close to World of Beer, nonetheless, it is a worthy selection. The beer selection coupled with the laid-back ambiance makes Dubliner hard to beat in the SoHo district.
Fun pub
nice outdoor area
nice bouncers
Interesting beer selection.
Unpretentious
the females were slightly lacking here, but great live music.
I was hurting really bad here though. After all that alcohol and 2 other pit stops this was a painful stop. Fun times
thanks again tampa. This was our last bar in SOHO and off we went to the strip clubs
Fine Irish bar with beer only menu; large patio with fans to cool you off, and great live music! Â The crowd is awesome too, friendly girl let us sit at her table instead of in the middle of the patio. Â Plus we were able to scream, cheer, and interact with the band while at the same time people watching the rest of the crazy diverse patrons at this fine establishment. Â Service is awesome too with the waitresses on you every 10 minutes to see if you need anything. Â Great vibe here too; people are chill, friendly, crazy, and casual-- definitely no pretension which was a nice change from the DC bars.
Review Source:Everyone seems to love this place. I like it, I don't drink beer so I don't spend much time here. The layout is cool, basically an old house turned bar, the people are usually cool, A much more chill atmosphere than the surrounding bars.
Plenty of places to sit inside & out with bar access in both. On weekends there is usually a very decent live band.
Pub means public drinking house. Beer & wine only? If this place had a liquor license it would be 10x better. The one in Citrus Park has liquor. Just sayin.
I like the Dubliner. There are a lot of more upscale places around the SoHo area and I respect Dubliner a lot more. Good crowd for sure and reasonably priced beer. They have a big beer for like $6 I believe. In addition, I definitely agree that Wednesday is the best day to go by far.
Plus, they have great food, good atmosphere and live music. You definitely cannot lose going to this bar. If you are looking for a bar that is still social, has great prices, and good mix of people, Dubliner might be your best bet.
As far as pubs go in Tampa, especially in South Tampa, it has a little more of an authentic feel. It's not as "trendy" as most of the bars in SoHo, and that's why I like it.
Most nights there is live music, and during the day/early evening it's pet friendly. They've added more beers on tap, and they take suggestions from their customers as to what they should add or get rid of next. The food is pretty good - especially the pizzas. My only complaint would be to have better specials. The most appealing special is $6 liter night on Wednesday.
Mediocre band is mediocre. A few drinks later and they start to sound better! My only complaint about this place was the less than stellar band but there are worse things in life. The crowd seemed like a good mix of frat bros and computer geeks and a hipster or two sprinkled in the mix. I feel the highlight of this place is the amazing blueberry beer with actual blueberries floating around inside. Most fruit flavored beers I've tried are little more than glorified fizzy fruit juices, this beer was BEER, with a hint of blueberry, the way I feel flavored beers ought to be. It is a must if you stop by here.
Review Source:One of the best bars in Tampa. Â Very little South Tampa pretentiousness going on... just a bunch of people getting together for some drinks in a cool atmosphere. Â The patio area is one of the best outdoor drinking areas in Tampa in my opinion. Â At night, with live music, and the white strung lights... perfect. Â It does suck that they don't serve liquor in the event you have a girl in your part that doesn't drink beer. Â Also, there are certain nights when you just need a round of shots... and here, that can't happen.
Review Source:Remember that part in Joyce's "The Dead" where he describes a pub where local young men in hats go to sit around and drink watered down ales and they bring their oversized dogs to lay around them? And a two piece acoustic band would play hilarious songs about having sex with fat chicks for everyone there?
Me neither. One star.
