Went to this Selmon on 6/26/13 at about 330 pm for a going away late luncheon for a military friend. Group of 30. Not my first time there but the second time I had the nachos with okra and fried green tomatoes. I had the nachos with pulled pork and I have to say, too cold and tasted
Like store bought pulled pork in a can. Unimpressed! Maybe with chicken would have been better. Admittedly the large was huge, but a large poorly tasting and uninspiring take on pulled pork did not make up for behemoth portion. Lunch companions each had the meatloaf and both were disappointed by the lack of seasoning. Someone mentioned that the food hasn't been right since Selmon passes away within the last year. I was too turned off to sample dessert although I heard the bread pudding is worth trying. Someone else had chicken and waffle combo and I also saw a huge chicken sandwich which was gone in the blink of an eye. I asked the lunch guest about the grilled chicken sandwich and their opinion was impressed along with the fries.
I did not have any alcohol but their Drink specials are worth mentioning.
Bottom line stick with whatever special of the day and always have the fried green tomatoes.
Big picture, there is nothing about this food here that had me jumping for joy. I had the salmon and vegetables which was just fine. I enjoyed the happy hour specials, but otherwise nothing crazy.
So why the 4 stars? I love bread, and I love places that serve bread before the meal comes out. Not only does Selmon's serve rolls before the entree, but those rolls have some kind of tasty BBQ sauce dripped over them. For this if nothing else, I am a fan.
