Amazing breakfast food! Â My family and I were there yesterday (for the first time and based on the Yelp reviews). We enjoyed a perfectly cooked omelette (cheddar, tomato and delicious sauteed onion), crispy home fries, amazing home made biscuits and gravy--and the absolute best fresh blueberry pancakes I've ever tasted! Â My kids are pancake connoisseurs--they ate these plain (no syrup or butter)--I think that's a first! Â They were light and fluffy and the fresh juicy blueberries were amazing. All of this with drinks and sides of bacon for just about $30. One of the best deals I've encountered.
Also--service was friendly and efficient. Food came out to all four of us simultaneously and piping hot.
We'll be back!
All of the fine, funky, and unique dining establishments throughout the five boroughs of New York City can never amount to the awesomeness of a filling and satisfying meal from the Dutch Treat.
Guy Fieri would have a field day here.
I've been coming here since way back when; all throughout high school and college, when visiting an aunt in Hillsdale, this would always be THE lunch location. It is located on a long, unassuming stretch of Route 23, essentially in the middle of nowhere. Small tables, a long counter, white walls adorned with a giant blue windmill to the left, and friendly home-down service make this an excellent spot for a cheap and filling lunch. What is a better indulgence than buttery toasted slices of white bread with American cheese bubbling within, coupled with French fries that are perfectly golden and crisp on the outside, while still being slightly creamy on the inside?
As for breakfasts, I've regularly paid more for less on typical Sunday mornings in Manhattan. Their best deal is their banana pancakes: $4.00 gets you three HUGE perfectly cooked banana-laden pancakes that are so good, food coma is induced 1/4 of the way through, whether you like it or not. FACT: These pancakes would cost you twice as much in the city, perhaps even more.
Also, their apple crisp and banana cream pie...well, they are in a category all by themselves. Nothing compares to them. NOTHING, I SAY!
Typing this up is making me sad, as Craryville is just too far away right now. All I can do is sit here and dream, fantasize, and be careful not to drool (too much) on myself, hoping I can make it back up there soon...
