Great little dive. Great beer, dart boards, and live music. What more could you ask for?

Can you say anything negative about Egan's?  This place rocks!  Perfect for a chill, yet fun night in T-town!

I have been going to Egan's FOREVER, but feel compelled to write a rave review after Egan's ROCKED yesterday in celebration of the FIRST EVER SUNDAY LIQUOR SALES IN TUSCALOOSA!!  Whoa, it was amazing.  PACKED, but everybody happy and friendly even with having to squeeze through to get anywhere.  Super eclectic crowd, cold beer, good drinks, D.J. spinning excellent mix...I haven't seen this many people dancing in Tuscaloosa in a LONG, LONG TIME!  If you hate crowded spaces, smoky bars, or loud music--this is not your place!  There is only 1 pool table and I have no idea how you actually play pool on it when it's crowded...Sunday the pool table was used for buffet potluck where "Eganites" brought food to share in celebration.  Very cool!

A visit to Tuscaloosa is not complete without a trip to Egan's.  A dive bar through and through. It's the people that make this place special.  College kids, professors, carpenters, blue collar, white collar...you'll find all kinds of people there.  Everyone I've met has been super friendly.  I've had some interesting conversations sitting at that bar.  Laid back place.  Pool table.  Darts.  Cool bartenders.

Oh Egan's, I love you. Whenever I'm in town and head out to a bar, there's never a question in my mind where I'm going... Egan's. I never did a lot of drinking in Tuscaloosa. I went to school in Auburn and when I came home on weekends to see my parents I usually never went out to drink. Cut to my post-college years: I'm home for Christmas, a wedding, whatever, and sometimes you just need to get out of the house and have a drink without mom and dad. Lucky for me my parents would never set foot in here.

I've been to a few different places in town, but this is definitely where I feel most comfortable. Yes it's a total dive, the bathrooms are frightening and it's just kind of a crusty place but it's great. I was excited to see a cool beer selection and even some local stuff. I got the Back Forty Naked Pig and it was awesome! Who knew they brewed beer in Gadsden? My husband got a shot of Belvedere, which usually costs upwards of $7 or $8, for $4!! I couldn't believe that, so cheap!

The Strip has changed a lot in the past few years, but this bar hasn't. Egan's is one of my favorite bars anywhere and whenever I'm in town I will be here!

I have been to some great dive bars.  The Village Idiot and Yogi's in NYC, Richard's Bar in Chicago, etc..  Egan's is right up there with the best of them.

We had heard this in preparing for our trip to Tuscaloosa, "If you want a dive bar, go to Egan's."  I was skeptical about the Alabama dive bar experience, but as soon as I walked in, I knew I was home.

It's small, it's cheap, it's dirty, the bathrooms are horrendous.  It's everything that I ever want a bar to be.

And perhaps best of all, the crowd is great.  We were all decked out in PSU gear for the game on Saturday and people were stopping and asking if we were having a good time, and strangely, actually meaning it.  There wasn't a hint of sarcasm to be found.

I don't know if I'll make it down to Tuscaloosa again, but if I do, you can find me at Egan's.

It's the ultimate dive bar, and the last great bar remaining on the Strip.

There's not a lot of judgment at Egan's, because the patrons really don't give a shit what you look like or who you run with.  It's the crowd that makes this place interesting  If I could pick one place in Tuscaloosa to see a great rock-and-roll show, I'd choose Egan's.  Bands set up in the back of this shotgun bar, and if you need to use the bathroom, you walk right through the band.  No stage, none needed.  If you bring your A-game, the crowd will appreciate you like no other in town.  These are music fans and they want to hear what you've got-- impress them, and they'll stump for you next time you come through town.

New Orleans music fans will delight in the mound of memorabilia that adorns every square inch of the walls.  There are treasures on the walls in this place, and you could spend an evening just looking at it all.  I do that a lot, actually.

The bartenders are grizzled vets who know what they're doing, and they'll take care of you.  As already mentioned, it is indeed VERY smoky and very loud.  You'll be alright.

When you leave, marvel at the bicycle on the roof.  Yeah, I don't know, either.

Ahh Egans. My safe haven to get away from the sorostitutes. Great beer, good people, weird conversations. What more do you want? Oh yeah, AWESOME MUSIC!
They get the most interesting groups to perform. Its my fave.

    Egan's...where to begin?

This is your quintessential dive bar. It's dirty, it's dark, it's loud, and  it's VERY smoky. Very. Smoky. Your lungs will burn for days, but it's all worth it. The crowd is a blend of grizzled locals, eccentrics, and hipsters. The beer selection is phenomenal, thanks in no small part to one of the beer-savvy bartenders.

This is the only bar in Tuscaloosa that I would feel comfortable in whether I was wearing a ballgown or my sweaty running gear. People at Egan's are just there to drink beer, shoot pool, and hang out...nothing more. I would highly recommend this bar to anyone looking for something outside of the usual Houndstooth et al. experience.

The biggest Dive bar on the Strip.  A place that collects all the esoterics in Tuscaloosa.

Great Live Bands, nice and LOUD!

Too smokey, but they are working hard to pump out the smoke.

Bathrooms are dirty, don't take a poop.
