Pozole!!!
I love pozole, the green one specially. When I saw that they had opened this place it went to the top of my list right away.
Unfortunately I had to go out to town for the weekend and had to wait for a week before I actually made it here.
I called my friend and asked him if he wanted to meet me there, I knew he would be cool with it. He had seen it and wanted to try it too. I wasn't sure where it was located and he said that it was around 59th and California. And there we go to 59th and California but there was nothing. Could it have closed? could it had been a dream? Or maybe wishful thinking that had played a dirty trick on us.
Then I remembered, it was around 55th and Cali. Follow me and there we go again. After a few mins we get there and park. The hood is the hood. We get inside and there are no other patrons. The restaurant is simple. Â We get a table and check the menu. Â We where there for the pozole so the decision was easy. One red pozole and one green pozole. I ordered the green pozole.
The waitress comes with the drinks, usual drink menu (bottled and canned drinks), and tostadas and the toppings for the pozole. Toppings included onion, dried chiles, radishes, avocado and chicharron (pork skins).
A few minutes later comes the pozoles. The green one was good but not as good as it can be. A very well prepared pozole verde can be heavenly. Surprisingly enough the red was my favorite even though I'm not too fond of red pozole. It was so flavorful and loaded with meat and hominy, add the onion and chicharron and is even better.
I will come back for the red pozole
