El Saltillo has four locations...I'm at the one housing a strip mall sharing the same parking lot with the thrift store & Rouses. I got the#20, chicken/cheese fajita w/guacamole salad and was very pleased with the taste/portions. Passed on the margaritas/daquiris, etc. because, in my experience, it gets lost on the way to the glass! Anything in a BOTTLE is a better choice for alcoholic beverages here. The food tastes alot like it did in Houston, which is hard to find in south MS...recommend you try it if you haven't already!
Review Source:It seems nowdays that you can't swing a dead cat on the coast without hitting a Mexican Restaurant. Although I have been to the other El Saltillo location in OS decades ago and the Cedar Lake location over a year ago I decided to give this location a try.
This restaurant was nicely decorated and clean, since my partner smokes we sat in the bar area. The chips where fresh and hot and the salsa good although a little spicy. Â We settled on the special of two fajita dinners and a Margarita. I thought that there were miniscule amounts of beans and rice on our plates, my partner agreed. Â My partner ordered Steak and I ordered Chicken Fajitas. There was a fair amount of meat and quite tender the meats were seasoned very little and overwhelmed by the Ginormous amount of onions, peppers and tomato's on our plates. We ended up eating all our dinner minus the onions and peppers, something we rarely do and took no food home which we always do at our favorite Mexican Restaurant.
Although the food was ok it wasnt great and small portions, what I did like was the drinks which were loaded with alcohol. In retrospect I'de return here to drink but not eat.
