After seeing a glowing review of this restaurant (not on this website), we regretfully tried it. Don't let the beautiful building and awesome atmosphere deceive you. Â The surroundings are not worth having to endure the food. Â I ordered the Gulf Platter. Â Menu description: "This plate is loaded with oysters, fish, shrimp, crab claws (broiled or fried) with a crab $26" Â I received one puny piece of fish, a small handful of shrimp, and about four very poorly cooked oysters. There were no crab claws to be found. Â The platter was also suppose to have hush puppies. Â They were also missing. Â The oysters tasted like they were microwaved (they were supposed to be grilled). Â This was the smallest amount of food I have ever received on a seafood platter, especially for the price of $26. Â To top it off, the food was barely warm.
The Food Network recently named The Hook Up's Moon Pie/RC Cola Ice Cream Sandwich as the best dessert in the state. Â I beg for recall of this title. Â The Food Network obviously has not done their homework or either they are trying to give Mississippi a bad reputation. Â Our moon pie dessert included a banana moon pie. Â This was just wrong with the chocolate and RC cola ice cream.
My wife and i came here for lunch. Service, hahahaha.....completely lacking. Sat at the bar, the bar tender was no where to be found. So, I got the idea to look up the number online and request to speak to the manager. Told her I had been waiting for 10 minutes and no one had even said a word to us. She quickly comes over to take a drink order street she find out I'm calling from inside the restaurant. Then offers a free appetizer and goes about the restaurant to find the bar tender and from the looks of her face she was in the bathroom doing something with her makeup I'm sure. Any ways, dine here at your own risk and prepare to not be impressed. The out side off the building offers quite a wow factor, but that's all the goodness i got out of it.
