I ate at 11 North and was very disappointed. Â We arrived on a Saturday night over memorial day weekend. Â We were expecting it to be slammed only to find it pretty empty. Â That should have been our first clue. Â It took the server 15 minutes to come over to our table to great us and another 15 to finally get us our drinks. Â I noticed that the staff and management where all just hanging around, while we sat there watiign for someone to get us our drinks. Â
The menu looked interesting enough and when we asked the server about you could tell they had no idea what they were talking about. Â The menu seemed to me to be something you would find in Boston rather than on MV. Â When the food finally arrived it was decent. Â I had the halibut, which was one of the only seafood entrees on the menu. Â When I'm on the Vineyard, I want fresh, local seafood. Â The Halibut was one of the only redeeming qualities about this place other than the decor, which was also nice.
Overall I would not go back, not for the price. Â I think with their awesome location and beautiful decor this could be an absolute winner, but for now it's a swing and a miss. Â Too bad.
11 North is one of those places that will do well where it is because the people that will go there care more about the scene than the quality of the food. The atmosphere is nice, the place is beautiful, the staff is warm and welcoming but the food is just really boring. Everything sounds good on the menu but the execution is lacking. We had to ask for lemon and salt to make our food taste ok. And even then, it was just ok because adding salt after a dish is fully cooked can only do so much. Seasoning needs to be built along the way and that's not happening in the kitchen. Really, the food is the kind of food that appeals to an older, taste buds have been dulled anyway, kind of crowd.
And it's expensive. Too expensive. You're paying for how it looks inside, not your food.
I had steak, which was at least properly cooked but had no flavor and a gratin of potatoes that again, no flavor. It's potatoes with cream and cheese- everything good in the world is in that dish so why does it taste so dry and flat?
Spent a recent afternoon at the bar with a couple of friends and had a nice time and delicious drinks. Â The atmosphere is lovely and the decor was beautiful. Â We decided to come back for dinner. The food was mediocre at best. While it was beautifully presented and cooked to order (i.e. med rare steak was just right), there was no seasoning on anything! I had two dining companions, we all ordered different items and had the same experience - no flavor. A good chef needs to work with layered seasoning to build good flavor in a dish. Â I can't imagine cooking a steak without salt. I had a fried piece of monkfish and the batter had NO flavor. Â Similarly, the lobster linguini lacked any flavor - we had to request lemon and salt just to make the fish dishes palatable.
I'd come back to sit at the bar, but I wouldn't come back for the food.
Eleven North (not 11 North btw) is a welcome addition to the MV food scene. I watched the renovation from David Ryan's where I spent many a night to a much more elegant establishment with delight-it was time for that old dog to die. I loved all of the apps and the specials posted on their FB page make me long for my return in May. If you went when they first opened you must go back...they are getting better and better! Good luck Eleven North.
Review Source:We had high hopes for Eleven North when we dined there last week.  Overall, a deflating disappointment.  The place seems like its run by drunks.  A heavily medicated blonde woman greeted us with lunch menu's . . . it was after 8PM.  She then returned to the bar for cocktails.  Odd, that the "host" would be drinking  . . . . Â
A well lubricated bar patron came up to our table at least 4 times, introduced himself as "THE OWNER", Jonathon. Â Now, I'm pretty sure he can't be the actual owner, but clearly he's good friends with the owner, because he roamed the restaurant like a drunk Red Skelton. Â
MEMO to Eleven North- Â Ladies do not like to be touched by drunk 55 year old men repeatedly. He kept touching my best friend, Sara's shoulders. Â
Seriously! Â Keep the creepy drunk guy away from customers . . . Â it ruined our dinner.
The food was ok. Â Pedestrian, but cooked well. Â A bit pricey for the quality, but perhaps my opinion is skewed by Creepy and the Blonde. Â Disappointed that Eleven North didn't deliver. Â We'll go back to L'etoile - Â at least we won't be groped
Let me start off saying that I went here for the first time in the dead of January on a Tuesday night so we knew it would be quite empty but I am just glad another year round restaurant opened.
The place has 2 floors and we opted to sit on the second since the bar was full of people watching TV. Since it was a Tuesday night there was only the bartender working and he did quite a good job attending us on the second floor and running down to the bar.
The atmosphere is beautiful, its nicely renovated. We chose a seat by the window over looking North Water St.
The food was outstanding. My husband ordered the chowder and it is now the best one we have had on the island and we try the chowder wherever we go! I started with the fried oysters and they are very good too. They come with a little bit of picked cabbage underneath which pairs so well with it. Â My husband had the skirt steak and I had Sole with a chorizo risotto. Unfortunately, it was tuesday so they were out of a few things including my first 2 choices of the tuna martini and Cod with risotto but I still was very satisfied with what I got.
Drinks are strong. Bartender said they would soon come out with a cocktail list also but it was not available now.
I would recommend going here. In the winter they have great deals! 20% off on Tuesdays :) 2 for 1 burgers and more.
We have been to Eleven North several times since it opened in mid-September. It keeps getting better and better. Everything we have eaten is absolutely delicious. My personal favorites: Â fried oysters, tuna martini and the beef skewers.
Eleven North's menu has something for everyone complimented with a nice and affordable wine list. Can not wait to head back to the Vineyard and have another wonderful meal at Eleven North.
During a visit to Martha's Vineyard, my husband, our friends and I checked out 11 North in Edgartown and we were so pleased with our experience. Â The cocktails were fantastic, service attentive and friendly, raw bar fresh and tasty and hot plates incredible. Â The ambiance is inviting, fresh and modern. Â I would recommend all try out 11 North in Edgartown for it's cool vibe, amazing cocktails and great food.
Review Source:We were lucky to stumble upon this newly open spot. Â Started at the raw bar, oysters, shrimp and little neck plans. Â How could we not in Edgartown? Â The tuna martini app was so good we had to order another one...never mind the presentation, amazing. Â Lemon linguini with lobster and the skirt steak frites were both incredible. Â The hand made tater tots were a great touch! Â The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Â It was a great night, we will be back!
