It's time Yelp added voting spots for service, food, and atmosphere.  The food made this average high, while the service was mediocre at best.  Why I'll come back?  The CRAZY good original hot wing sauce.  I ended up on my fish and poppers - both excellent as well.  Down side, begging for drink refills and a second beer.  Atmosphere - perfect for a sports bar with a marvelous ton of tV's.  PS - great spot to meet with girls before a Passion Party!

I feel Staff is rude as hell, I told her I thought the men's bathroom door was broken as the door didn't seem to want to close and after I pressed the lock button some drunk stumbled in and tried to grab my junk. Instead of taking a complaint like an adult, SHE FLIPPED OUT and then started getting really immature with me. The Drinks seem WAY over priced!!! the food and always made me sick and the regulars seem to me to be extra confrontational and scummy. Honestly I suspect that any positive reviews are a direct result of the owner giving himself reviews. I really wouldn't be surprised

    ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!
I went here with my friend's family for dinner and I have never been to a restaurant/sports bar of such a low caliber.
We were sitting at the table for at least 15 minutes before the waitress even asked if we wanted a drink. After 45 minutes of waiting, when the food finally arrived, I would rather have chewed on tin foil. It's hard to say if the service or taste is more dissatisfying.
If the restaurant is in your plans in the new future, CHANGE THEM.

Elk Grove sports bar has been one of my favorites for years great atmosphere and food. The herd burger is amazing. And they have the best blue cheese dressing in the world

Props to Megan! We started our "family night out" at another 'sports bar & grill' up the road... Sheldon & Elk Grove-Florin, to be exact, and it was horrible. In the amount of time it took to be greeted, seated, and finally greeted by a server, Megan had greeted, seated, gotten our drinks, AND taken our order.  Besides that, the food is NO comparison. We will forever drive past the "other place" for Elk Grove Sports Bar & Grill!

The day before Veterans Day, we decided to have Sunday breakfast at a bar and grill to check out the food.   Forgetting that Elk Grove was preparing to have a Veterans Day parade right at the time we arrived, we ended up having to park some distance away because the main boulevard was closed.  We walked through the multitudes of parade enthusiasts and finally found our way to the bar.  I was a little worried it would be closed in honor of Veterans Day, but to our surprise and relief, the place was open and pretty packed with patrons and sports fans.  Everyone seemed oblivious to the parade and celebrations going on just outside their street.

After adjusting to the dim light, it took a little while to find a place to sit.  Luckily we located two seats right at the beginning of the bar near the kitchen.  The bartender was friendly as she greeted us.  We asked for breakfast menus and she handed them to us right away, but because she was busy with other customers, had to leave us and help them.  She didn't ask us if we would like a drink first, since we were, after all, at the bar.   Eventually she returned and we placed our food orders, but had to ask for Bloody Marys, since we were still not asked if we wanted something to drink.   We got our drinks after about 10 minutes, so I tried to drink slowly as we waited for our breakfasts.  I ordered 2 eggs over medium, country potatoes and wheat toast.  My boyfriend ordered 2 pancakes with 2 eggs.  Pretty basic and uncomplicated breakfasts, or so I thought!

While we waited, I noticed that the bar area is very big inside with plenty of tables & chairs, bar stools along the bar, pool tables, and plenty of televisions all around the room.  In the middle is a large projector style TV and a large screen at the opposite side of the room.  All other flat screen TVs were small and hard to see from across the room.  So they were only useful if you happened to be sitting close to one of them.  Every television had a football game on and unfortunately for me, my 2 favorite teams were playing side by side clear on the other side of the bar.  The TV closest to us was out of order.  We found ourselves rubber necking a lot to see the other TVs.  After watching 2 1/2 quarters of a game, my boyfriend had to ask if our food was ever ordered.  The bartender apologized about the wait and mentioned how busy it was.

When breakfast arrived, I knew I was already disappointed about the long wait, but then, my potatoes were lukewarm.  I wasn't going to complain because I was too hungry to bother.  I like to dip my toast into the egg yolks before eating, but I never got my toast and had to just eat it.  The bartender was informed, and she again apologized and took a dollar off the bill.  The toast was brought later.  My boyfriend wasn't impressed with his food either.

This place did not meet our dive bar / greasy spoon standards.  Our expectations were not going to be high because it is a dive bar.  But I'm sorry to say, I have had better breakfasts at a fast food joint.  The only saving grace here was our nice bartender.  I don't see a return visit in our near future!

My girl friend and I love trying new places for Sunday breakfast so we decided to give Elk Grove Sports Bar and Grill a try.  We walked in and the first thing we noticed was that all of the tables were full of sports fans watching various NFL games.  Even though we were dressed casually like everyone else in the place, it seemed like they were staring with that quizzical look like; "I wonder what the hell these outsiders are doing here?"

After a couple of minutes of searching we found two empty stools at the bar.  The place has a lot of television sets with various games on them.  Unfortunately the television closest to us was not turned on and most of the televisions are too small and not clear enough to see very well from where we were sitting. There were a couple of big screen televisions but they were the type that you have to sit directly in front of or they are extremely blurry.  On one of the televisions that I was lucky enough to barely make out the games being played the second quarter was just beginning.

After a couple of minute the bartender approached us and I told her we would like to order breakfast.  She immediately went to the other end of the bar and returned with a couple of menus.  To my complete surprise and totally utter dismay she did not ask us if we would like a drink while we were looking at the menu.  As a matter of fact she did not even give us time to ask her for a drink, instead she quickly turned and walked away.

Ten minutes later she returned to take our order.  About a half hour after that I had finished my bloody mary and had been waiting ten minutes to order another one before the bartender finally came back to ask me if I would like another drink.  By this time I was feeling dumbfounded to the point of asking her if we had really ordered breakfast because I was beginning to think I had only imagined it.  She told me the kitchen had been slammed and it was taking awhile to get the food out.  Even though all of the tables were full, there was only one or two people at each table and not that many of them had food.  We finally received our breakfast at the start of the fourth quarter.

I had ordered two pancakes and two eggs over easy and my girl friend had order two eggs with country potatoes and wheat toast.  I know, I know, those are pretty hard orders to fill.  That must be why our orders took so long and why they forgot my girl friend's wheat toast.  On second thought, maybe we don't love trying new restaurants on Sunday mornings.

My eggs were done well but my pancakes were tough and were not that good even for something that came out of a box.  My girl friend complained to me that her potatoes were only room temperature and. she finally got her wheat toast after her eggs were cold.  The bartender did apologize about the toast and took a dollar off of our bill.

I am sure that some day in the very distant future we will look back at this dastardly experience and be able to laugh.

Been here a few times now on Sat night.  Each time the bands were great and I was able to enjoy the dance floor.   I have eaten here a couple of times and I have to say the food was really good.  Typical bar-food fare but well done,. large portions and very reasonably priced.  They also serve late into the evening... really nice if you get the munchies after a few drinks :-)
Looking for a fun night out with everything you need try this place.

This is 1 out of 5 local bar hang outs in Elk Grove to drink at, especially if you do not want to drive all the way to Downtown Sac. After dinner with my girls at Chevy's we Yelped this place since it was less than a mile away. Walked into a crowd of drunk Kings fans, Motorcycle-Michaels with freshly permed silver mullets, (you could smell the Oglivie perm solution from a far) and then there was a few Harry Potter cubs sitting alone at a banquet table eating french fries as they wait for the next cougar to prance in. With that said along with a "WTF" look on my snotty little face, I bolted to the bar and begged for 2 hoppers at $9 a pop. Sadly it did not meet my dive scene expectations, I was hoping to get trashed on a work night. Instead of complaining, I decided to enjoy the tribute to Metallica band and sing along the metal music. There is an outdoor patio  with heating lamps, tables & chairs which was kinda cool. My girlfriends were eager to leave and ravage the liquor store next door. Guess that's the end of my hideous visit here.

EGSBG is what a sports bar is all about! Lots of TV's with what's going on, even a NASCAR or car program on for you gearheads. But the best thing about this place is the Steak Sandwich by far! I drive down there about once a month or so, just for that snadwich, it's a real thick piece of steak, cooked how you want it and served up with great fries or salad. The drinks are real too! Bobby is my favorite bartender, he keeps an eye on your glass, and never makes me wait! Go there!

My family just came up for the holidays and we all decided to try this place. It wasn't as crowded as we expected. We watched football and hug out. The drinks were good and my family had crazy fun. The food and service was great!!! It was also inexpensive (which is good for the holidays) Gonna come back again for sure!! Also you have to use the pool table major fun. :)

Bloody Mary's are even better than I remembered. The service was much faster during our last visit for Sunday football. Family friendly (they still have the Buck shot video game).  Great bartender!!

Bartender service was great. Pool table was fun and they have a patio outside. The night I came there was a live band but kinda an older crowd I would say in their 40's or so.

I have to give this place credit for being open in Christmas night. But, it wasn't the greatest bar I've ever been to. When we called to see if they were open, it seemed like they didn't want us to come in. Once there though, the staff and regulars were super nice. They happened to be having karaoke. They kept starting filler/ non-karaoke songs and would just cut them off when they wanted someone to sing. They did have Newcastle on tap, which made me happy and they offer big mugs in addition to regular pints. We got two tall beers, a pint, and a bloody Mary and the bill was 18 or 19 bucks. Not too bad. I would go back to this place, bit it is missing that some thing special to deserve a 4 or 5.

This reivew is for late night only, 9PM and later.

I've only set foot in here a few times, all of them a little on the later side. The last time i went was a karaoke night (thursday i believe) and man let me tell you this place is a cougar magnet. Not necessarilly a bad thing if thats your sort of folks, all the people there were definately locals, but all of them were friendly. I noticed that the nicer you treat the bar tender and patrons here the cheaper your tab gets, which is refreshing from other restaurant bars in elk grove that will rape your wallet until it actually weeps blood. The drinks were good, cheap, nice people, overall great little sports bar.

With nowhere to watch the Lakers vs Celtics game, I decided to come here with some friends after reading the positive reviews on Yelp.  Unfortunately, we weren't there for karaoke or live music, but I really enjoyed my experience.

The drinks and food were really cheap and delicious. We ordered chili cheese fries (I think they call them Southwestern fries) for around $4 and our waitress brings out this huge plate of fries smothered in chili, cheese, and sour cream.  We also order a few sampler platters and they were tasty as well.

The atmosphere is great. Even though it's a bar, there are families having dinner here and people watching whatever game  is playing on their 8 TVs (lots of TVs, and one huge projector screen).  Great crowd.  When I told a fellow patron I was a Kings fan, he shook my hand and patted me on the back haha.

They have darts and a pool table as well!

    love love love this place!

where else can you get yum bar eats, decently priced drinks, and either karaoke or live music (depending on which night you hit up).  definitely the go to spot for my girls and i when looking to take a time out from life, catch up, and have fun.

so what if we're dancing with each other and sometimes the only broads on the dance floor! join us or shooosh...

Love this place - it's my favorite bar in Elk Grove!  People are friendly, drinks are cheap and it's just a fun place to hang out at.  Live music on Friday and Saturday - and they have had a great band everytime I've been there.

Came here with a few friends (including, Krystle C.) for a little reunion drinking and was quite surprised at how much fun we all had!

Elk Grove, you made me happy that night. :)

Like mostly everyone has stated, there's Karaoke here and the stage is pretty generous for the folks with the mic...including the DJ, who happens to be the owner. A smaller dance floor in front of the stage in which we danced along to all the catchy 90's songs people were choosing, in addition to our apparent inebriation.

The drinks were tasty thanks to our awesome bartender...forgot her name! haha My bad...but they were delicious and the prices were cheaper than most bars.  Also, half way through the night, the owner announced drink specials which contributed greatly to our neverending fun.

Probably the biggest plus were all the random people I was able to meet.  Never in my life have I met so many friendly people who were not shy to disclose personal information to us (which I still remember , btw. haha).

Anyway, overall it was a good night.  If ever I'm back in the area, I wouldn't mind stopping in for a few drinks, some sangin' (yes, sangin'), and good ol' fashion fun.

I came here while I was in town visiting friends and had a blast. I walked into the bar only knowing the 5 friends who were with me, and ended up leaving knowing almost the entire bar, and a few life stories of some of the patrons. Drinks were easy to get and not too expensive. The crowd is really mixed, ranging from recent college grads to those college grads' parents and grandparents. Everyone is friendly. I felt like I was at a family reunion, minus the drama and the drunken uncle stumbling in the corner.

Karaoke was great! The stage is in a great location so that everyone can see. Didn't expect this bar to turn into an impromptu club as people started making a dance floor in front of the stage. The karaoke hostess was kind enough to play clubbing music between karaoke songs so that not a moment of partying was wasted.

The womens' restroom was really cramped, so just be prepared for that and you should be fine.

Do you like karaoke? Well, if the answer is yes this is the place for you! Do you like sports? Got that too! On top of that they have excellent, friendly owners and a relaxed atmosphere. I've had a few experiences with "gruffy"  employees, but nothing too bad. I also thinks the drinks are a bit pricey, but I'm cheap and it is a bar...so what can I expect. I love that they have an outdoor seating area and pretty good food to boot. I've always had fun belting my heart out and relaxing with friends. If you live in the area I highly recommend it.

Been here a couple times for karaoke on Wednesday nights by recommendation of a few friends who go RELIGIOUSLY every Wednesday. Nice place, very casual and laid back. Yes, it's Wednesday so it's harder to get people on there but it was pretty dead in there. Looks like a few regulars and that's it. If they were to advertise more, I'm sure they would get some more people in there. The karaoke system is really nice and they have a ton of songs to choose. Drinks are good and well priced.

Elk Grove Sports Bar is a nice place for a drink.  The staff are nice and friendly.  The only major downside to this bar is it's lack of pool tables.  Having only one table is annoying if you don't want to play the hunting or golden tee arcade game with friends.

OK, so this really did become my spot and I was going there like 2 or 3 times a week and loving it, I still love it, but do to an accidental altercation with the owners husband that I have no memories of (blackout drunk) I was kicked out for 30 days (unjustly in my opinion, but I did my time like a good little alchy), if it weren't for the way I was treated, nay, ignored by the owner regarding my feelings about the unjust kick-out, especially since I was bringing in groups of people with me to spend lots of money several times a week and felt I deserved for her to at least take my phone call, this would be a 5 star review. Due to that horrible incident, I want to give this place 3 stars, however, the rest of this review will be based on the other employees/bartenders and the food, which I have now had the pleasure to taste:

The doormen/bartenders at this joint are super sweet, Hope (bartender and sometimes cocktailer), Brian and Rudy (doormen who also sometimes tend bar) will always treat you right, and don't forget George who, rumor has it, can remember your drink for life, he's been there for 15 years and if you came in once 14 years ago and he was your bartender, you can go in tomorrow and he'll remember you drink beefeater on the rocks, that's what I hear anyway. They obviously care about the customers and from what I've seen on a personal level, treat them like friends, and luckily, even on the nights that Donny isn't working, you can usually find him there enjoying a cocktail at some point during the evening (if you get the chance, ask to see his happy feet, it's a good giggle).

Food - I've eaten there once for dinner, once late night, once at lunch and once for breakfast. For dinner, it was a little odd, I almost felt like I was at a family reunion the way the tables are arranged and people are up roaming around, it never seems to lose that neighborhood bar charm and feel even when it's posing as a restaurant. I was a little nervous about how the food would be, I ended up going for a sandwich, I got the French dip and it was fabulous, the au jus was very flavorful and actually tasted like jus, not just powder mixed with water, the bread was grilled with a little garlic butter, but not overly garlicky which I like when it comes to a french dip, the french fries were perfectly seasoned, for a small fee you can have them add cheese and onions which I tried at a later date and let me tell you, worth every affordable penny. The breakfast experience was a little different, the food took a long time, but I didn't hold that against them because we came right at the end of the ordering rush, and being in the industry, I like to cut a little slack when and where I can. I got the western omelet and it was worth the wait, (I've had eggs ruined in the past even though I thought it wasn't possible, it is). I even recommend their appetizers which they serve until midnight on the weekends (tho I think after 9 you have to order directly from the kitchen), I had the appetizer sampler and tho some stuff seemed prefabbed the potato skins were definitely fresh made and the dipping sauces are plentifully. Next I'd like to try a burger, everyone raves about how big, juicy, and FRESH they are.

So I say, if you live in Elk Grove, this is a great place to go and feel like family, the staff are all really wonderful and so are the regulars, but if your looking for an intimate dining experience, this place is more family style and your more than likely destined to make friends, even if your dining at a table.

FYI they do Karaoke Sun through Thurs nights and have a great system, live bands usually on Fri and Sat nights, pool tournaments on Thurs evenings and an interesting Family Karaoke on Sunday evenings hosted by the owners teenage daughter, so there's lots of stuff to keep you entertained.

Fun place where you'll find people of ALL ages. Some nights are karaoke nights (on stage), which can be tons of fun. Drinks are pretty strong according to me, and at very good prices. Plenty tables to sit at if the bar is full. There's also a pool table here for those who like to play. The space is big and the atmosphere is very chill. And yes, you will have your share of VERY DRUNK people here.

This nice little place to get drunk with your family members when you're visiting the folks.  They serve some standard beer on tap and when it is empty it is quite nice.  I always founding it interesting to meet up with family and their Elk Grove friends.  Elk Grove has changed so much over the last handful of years, but this place has been staying "Elk Grove."

Okay. So I have been playing at the Elk Grove Sports Bar & Grill for the past 2 years. It has to be one of my favorite places to spin at. For a performer it is great...A decent sized stage, lights, about a 20 square foot dance floor (that is always packed when I'm playing) and some of the friendliest staff around. Nina, the owner, is all about customer service and entertainment. Entertainment all week long with karaoke and on the weekends it really gets jumpin with some of the best musical talent Sacramento has to offer...not to mention a first rate DJ :) From a customers stand point, for a sports bar....WOW. Last time I counted about 7 flat screens with all the sports you could possibly want. The menu is full of good eats and the bartenders are generous with their pours!! Good Times for all! I promise.

Voted best place to black out with friends by me.  They'll let you get that drunk, no prob!  Okay so its ultra sleazy, a lil skanky and cheese ball to the max with karaoke and so what if the bartender is a little slow (or tweaked out to the max)...  Its one of two places to go if you're REALLY from Elk Grove.  Besides you can go there and meet one guy one day, show up with another guy another day, and make out with a different dude a couple days later and they won't even raise an eyebrow at you (to your face) except for the bouncer/hater who jocks too hard and tries to cock block! YOU CAN'T HAVE IT SO QUIT TRYING TO RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE ELSE.  Other than that cheap drinks, endless karaoke on weekdays bands and partying on weekends the last of my true elk-grovians
