Being out in CA now, having moved from Jax; I am missing this place something awful.  There is still no where I have been out here with the same vibe, class of people, great beers, and knowledgeable staff.  I hope that when i return it's the same

Yeah, if I lived a little closer to the beach, you would probably see me in here almost every day.

Very cool, laid back atmosphere, tables on the left, a fantastic long and dark wood bar, and a few picnic tables outside for seating.

We decided to try a flight (4 generous pours for only $5!) I went with the Hop flight and the boy went with the Monks R Us flight.

My favorite was their creation, E15 double drop. Wow, wow, wow. Refreshing, with that nice IPA kick and very tasty! Pineapple-y and maybe even a hint of some blueberries in there? I don't generally go for the fruity flavors, besides the citrus notes of a good IPA, but this was just a hint of an essence.... and really set it off. I probably shouldn't have ordered a full glass after that flight but I couldn't help myself! I had to have a little bit more!!!

The boy enjoyed a few of his Belgians and a sour, but ewa, I leave that all for him. I just can't do the sour beers... but to each his or her own brew. He was a very happy man.

We started with the Chili Nachos... came out quickly and a pretty good size plate. What really makes the dish is the Engine 15 chili and the beer queso! They have the usual suspect toppings... lettuce, onions, black olives, jalapeños and a nice dollop of sour cream. I was totally stuffed after the flight and the nachos, but we decided to order some more food anyway....

I went for the Beer Dip sandwich and the man went for the BBQ Cuban. The Cuban was awesome... and one of the most popular choices on the menu. I had a big bite and some of the sweet BBQ sauce started dripping out... mmmmmm. The sweetness gave it such a unique flavor, a little different, but complimented it very well... the bread was hot, crispy and fantastic too.

The Beer Dip is an interesting character. Their take on the French dip, it's a ham and cheese with a side of beer dip. It almost felt naughty and I loved it! Not crazy alcoholic tasting, but nice boost of savory beer flavor.

Service was great, always within earshot if we needed something, cool tunes playing and I left a pleased and stuffed Allie Cat.

If someone invites you to try their nut sack, just go with it. You won't be disappointed by anything you put in your mouth at Engine 15. There are dozens of taps and even more bottles, so you may choose to ask for a recommendation from your friendly bartender. The staff will always help you out, whether it's introducing you to your new favorite beer, helping your non-beer-drinking friend find something even they will like, or offering a taste of the newest small batch or seasonal brew from Tap 42. Order a "flight" and sample four beers in smaller quantity (good for those of us who arrive thirsty and indecisive). If doing all those 16oz. bicep curls works up an appetite, Engine has a selection of quality pub grub like sandwiches, beer brats, chili, and assorted small plates to soothe your growling stomach (and complement whatever beer you're drinking, if you're fancy like that).

This place has great beer! The food is also pretty great too. Me and the hubby decided that we would try out this place on a day just out driving about. Great idea!!!!

So the first thing we did was kinda stand there like idiots because no one greeted us. I mean not a huge deal, but, we were new so it would have been nice to know to seat yourself. So WARNING, SEAT YOURSELF!

Once we found out seats at the bar we ordered up a round of beers and proceeded as such for about three hours. They have a fantastic selections of beers and highly recommend that you get a flight and have the bartender pick some out for you.

The food was also fantastic. We got the chili nachos and the mini corn dogs. Yum Yum and double Yum!!!! These were super filling and definitely helped to keep me from being such a light weight. I highly recommend that you try these.

This is a great place to grab a drink. Haven't had an opportunity to try their food, so my review is based on atmosphere, drink selection, and service. This place is small but nice. Owner is family of friends so it's great to get out and support them. Plus.. You can also have them brew beer for your wedding. It's fantastic. Don't miss this place

I went on a Tuesday night with friends from work to hang out as a group. The atmosphere has a typical bar vibe and the place is small and very loud. We arrived at the tail end of happy hour and just before trivia night was starting.  We managed to grab a few tables in the rear for our party of 13. The crowd was pleased with the drink selection and the food was surprisingly good. I enjoyed an order of beef empanadas and snicker dumplings which were breaded, fried pieces of snickers with stout. Good drinks, good food, good trivia and good times all around.

Handful of delicious eats on the menu with a copious selection of beer. 50 beers on tap and over 200 beers available at any given time. I'm a big fan of the Bar-B-Cuban sandwich; which contains slow smoked pulled pork, ham, swiss, mustard and a stacker pickle in a pressed sandwich. The sauce they put on this is awesome.

I've been coming to this place for the past 2 years, and I've never been disappointed only satisfied. Usually I just have the bartenders pick me a random beer and go with it. I like the randomness of it and it's a surprise every time I get a beer. I also have both of their growlers that I use to fill up with their own wonderfully brewed beers.

Judging from the other reviews I should try the tomato soup. I'm adding that to my list next time I'm there. See ya at E15; next round is on me!

Great beers for great prices. No frills, with picnic tables and a long bar with lots of stools, and TVs. What else do you need? We went here while waiting for a table at nearby TacoLu, and it saved the night. If we weren't waiting to eat elsewhere, I definitely would've ordered something off of their menu. Frito pie? Heck yes. This place is the best thing that ever happened to TacoLu, and vice versa.

I tried the Nut Sack Brown Ale, and the Winter Wheat, which are Engine 15 brews. They have other stuff on tap, but what's the point? Their own beers are great.

We visited Engine 15 because we bought a Groupon.  I'm grateful we did.
The bartender let us sample a couple of brews before we committed.  I chose the brown ale (I think it was actually called "nut bag brown ale" or something like that. Embarrassing to order, but still a good beer). My husband chose the rye.  Our Groupon included a gallon sized growler and two cool pint glasses.
There's a small outdoor seating area, and inside a long bar and a few tables.  Not much else, but it had a cool vibe and I'd like to visit again soon.

Laid back atmosphere, lots of beer selection, good price and you can mix and match beers as well. My girls and I had left another brewery for this one and liked this one much more. The bartender was nice and helpful. Music played in the background as we sat on benches and played cards and drank our beers. Have not tried the food yet, but they have lots of specials. Definitely going back!

For the beaches area it has one of the best beer selections. WE been about 6 times over the 2 years its been open.
We had mixed service, and a few billing issues. The place is quite popular and it gets crowded allot. Its not crowded because its so great, its just because there really is not that many places to go frankly. Unless your young and GOOD looking the service is going to mixed. as one is sucking down beer for hours and your not watching TV, one can observe how things work here.
Why do we go back, well you can stand anything with good beer for a little while.

Good points. Easy to find, big parking lot, outdoor seating. Fairly good beer selection but as usual its oriented to the hoppy side of things. if your local and a regular you get treated well. If you cannot sit at bar you have to go to bar to order.
Food is bar food and its ok if your drunk.....
    You can brew here.

Bad points: too small, seats are hard as a rock. Needs to expand the place is packed with brewing gear. can be dangerous to go to the bathroom if some one is playing game near there. can be VERY noisy. tv''s are mounted at high level and can hurt your neck looking at them.

    * Service: this one is tricky, if you go early and the bar is half filled or less the service is usually dam good. on the other hand if its packed or after 5pm it goes down hill fast, which is weird because of the staff. The European street cafe manager is working there or part owner not sure, but he turned into a major but head.
we also had billing issues twice. Service when they are packed and your not at the bar is simply FUBAR'ed. again if they like your looks they are friendly, if not oh well go elsewhere. Nothing new really its Jacksonville.....

To me its hit or miss place if your not local. If your hungry Euro street cafe is better choice.

I am loving the fact that places like this are open all over town! If you do not have a nose for hops don't go inside (smell), they do have a large outdoor seating area.

They have fresh great tasting beers that are brewed right now premises and a variety of other Micro-brews from JAX!

Everyone was very helpful! They even have a program where you can brew and bottle your OWN beer, AWESOME!

This is a great place!!  We stopped in here for dinner and I was initially a little disappointed by the menu.  It took a while to flag down a bartender and once we did, we ordered a beer sampler, my husband got the Cuban, and I settled on nachos because nothing on the menu really appealed to me.  When I said I wanted the nachos without chili the bartender suggested that I could try their vegetarian nachos with black beans which I agreed to happily.

I was disappointed that the vegetarian nachos came out with just cheese and not their beer queso as advertised in their menu.  :-(  But they were still surprisingly good.  My hubby's Cuban was amazing - way, way better than I expected.  Next time, I have to try their tomato soup.  I didn't "get" the meal because it wasn't described properly in their menu but after reading the reviews after the fact I wish I would have tried it.

The beer selection was excellent and the food tasty - I would give 5 stars except for the poor menu descriptions and clearly understaffed bar!!!

Omg the tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons is unbelievable! But definitely add the howler monkey hot sauce if you dig an extra kick bc it blends quite nicely!

The word "smug" comes to mind when I think of Engine 15. The only thing standing in the way of success is their customer service.  The beer selection is modest and the food isn't bad either, but the service is lackluster regardless of how busy they are. I've visited all of the local breweries in Jacksonville and this is by far the least hospitable.  Also, if you are looking for a brewery they actually has a fair selection of their own beer brewed on the premises look elsewhere. (This review is based on multiple visits)

Engine 15 gets my vote for best spot to drink beer at the beach! I've had plenty of positive experiences there, but one night in particular was a game-changer.

I showed up around 5:30 to meet a girlfriend for happy hour, and we found seats at the bar immediately. I turned my attention up to the giant chalkboards above the bar, squinting to read the squibbled list of draft offerings complete with ABV listings and color-coded price levels.

After engaging in a brief struggle to pin down the preoccupied barkeep, I selected the Summer Solstice, a 5.6% cream ale by Anderson Valley Brewing Company. I'll admit I selected it partially because of the name, but the brew did not disappoint! It came out looking brown and toasty, with a vanilla, nutmeg taste that finished on a crisp note. Very nice on a warm, summer day. It hit the spot, so I decided to stick with it and ordered another.

About halfway through my second beer I felt a distinct rumbling in the tumbling and reached for a menu. I was on the prowl for some novelty. I'd tried Engine's "bar food" staples like the Sack o' Nuts and Pigs in a Blanket before. Delightful, but I wanted something heartier. Ultimately, I selected the Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons, hoping it would be as comforting as it sounded.

Ten minutes later, my soup arrived in a shallow skillet plated next to half of a melty, crispy grilled cheese sandwich. As I picked up my spoon, mouth-watering, I saw that the other half of my sandwich had been torn up and dropped IN the soup already. Oh. God. Yes. That's what they meant by Grilled Cheese Croutons! Ahhhmazing. I devoured it like a kid hungry for their after-school snack. Kudos to them for making such a familiar meal seem new and different.

I've been back numerous times since and I'm always impressed by the quality of food at this "beer bar." Though the bartenders can be hit-or-miss with their level of attentiveness, Engine 15 is a must-try in Jacksonville Beach.

Great beer selection.  Food is so-so.  The bun on my brat was soggy and gross by the time I got it.  I wouldn't recommend as a place to go for dinner, but it's a great place to meet up with friends for a drink.

Engine 15 is awesome!  I'm going to be sure to stop here every time I'm in the Jacksonville Beach area.  They have a huge selection of beer on tap and the bartenders are rad.  They have a small offering of pub food, which is decent and they also sell merchandise.  It's a small place that fills up pretty quickly, so get there early to grab a seat.

Great beer selection.  Impressive food. I had the Cuban Sandwich -- which was delicious.  The Intuition Tripel beer is one of the best of its kind.  Helpful bartenders.

The gyros, keep me coming back. There are so many different beers, it actually was hard to decided on which one to try but the bartenders are very helpful on making a selection to your tasting. A easy going atmosphere and great place to just chill. Outdoor seating is available for those nice chill summer nights.

Don't be discouraged by the rough appearance, truly a beer lover's haven. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and helpful in aiding in the choice of beer for my sampler. They have a big Belgian selection on tap and that struck my fancy. As for my friend he enjoyed the wide variety, however ordered Bartender's Choice without telling him what he like (lol rookie move). So he didn't enjoy all of his samples like I did. Will go again and casual atmosphere shorts t-shirt type place.

I am a sucker for awesome beer selection, so naturally I was pumped when my friends took me here after moving back to the area.

The selection does not dissapoint and is a huge reason why I'm granting a 4 star rating. They keep a healthy tap rotation of different craft beer and european macro/micro brews that are hard to find elsewhere.

The atmospher leaves something to be desired. It isn't very spacious, and there isn't a ton of seating. It's quite a narrow design, so the majority of seating is at the bar itself, not very accomodating for large groups. But this is a great place to go before a big night out or grab a couple of that hard to find beer you've been looking around town for.

Went here this evening for a couple beers with a buddy.  Enjoyed it.

I counted 35 taps on the wall, and the bottled beer list was similarly impressive.  Ordered some empenadas and the cheese platter, terrific value for each.

Beers run mostly $4.50 / $5.50, some of the "third teir" run that or less for smaller pours.

The place was crowded, but not packed.  Several televisions showing various things (sports, news, Mister Rogers Neighborhood), most of the patrons seemed to be 30-something.

Looks like they're setting up their own brewing system at the back of the place -- makes sense, given the name of the place.

I'd be happy to go back and try some more of those taps!

(For the humor impaired:  Mister Rogers was not really on the tube.)

Went Tuesday night for poker.  Surprisingly large crowd.  Lots of beers on tap, but sparse environment.  Is a neighborhood bar.  Regulars get joyful banter along with service.  Others are shunned.

20 oz Sweetwater Ale and 20 oz Weihenstephan $11.67 before gratuity.

Oh, how I wanted to have a better time at Engine 15. The only thing I really enjoyed was the great beer selection and the ample parking.

Factor in the ess ell oh double-u service and the ceiling that kept dripping on me and into my beer, I wasn't too impressed. Since it's local, I'm willing to try again. But I know I can find my favorite other beers elsewhere in Jax and get them much faster and minus the post-ceiling-tile-drip.

Definitely more of a bar than a gastropub, but it does serve really good bar food. We met my younger brother for a night out. I had a couple of ciders and the pulled pork flatbread.

It wasn't dinner at the Four Seasons, but it was a lot of fun. Good food, great beer & great selection. We'll definitely be back to try out some more.

Engine 15 is one of my favorite places to frequent in Jacksonville. The atmosphere is exactly what I look for in a bar - cozy, accessible owners, unpretentious. Most importantly, they've got great beer - and the customers tend to really love great beer; I like people who like great beer, so this is a great place to go to strike up conversations and meet new friends. The whole staff is helpful, jovial and knowledgeable about the menu and beers on tap.

The only reason I held back on giving Engine 15 five stars is the food. The queso is very good, and they've got a few interesting hot sauces available to spice it up a bit. I've ordered the Chili and have had to doctor it up considerably to make it good (it was edible, but I have pretty high ex. I sampled the dip sandwich and would rate as disappointing (it was HAM - how strange!). Engine 15 is relatively new, though, and I know that they're reworking and updating the menu as the establishment matures. I'll continue to go back for the company, atmosphere and great BEER! :)

Engine 15 has the makings of a great neighborhood bar! Cozy atmosphere with decent bar seating as well as large picnic tables for hanging out with a bigger group. Great beer selection (we called it a mini Kickbacks)! I enjoyed a creme brulee stout (Southern Tier Brewing Co). Other beers consumed included a tangerine IPA, coconut porter, and old rasputin. The food menu is limited, but decent for a place where beer is the star. I had a cuban sandwich, which was a pleasant surprise. One of our friends tried out the Frito Pie (don't judge) and said it was actually very tasty. My hubby had a brat, which was pretty good also.

Can't really say much about service as we ordered from the bartender. I did not see a dedicated server, but we did have our food brought over to our table. It's a small place so we didn't feel much impact from this.

I was happy that they had a "jukebox" and was especially pleased that I could play some Cake to start off our Happy Hour! FYI, $1 off drafts for HH.

I'm very appreciative that we have this little gem at the Beaches. While I have mad love for Kickbacks, it is a bit far from me to be a neighborhood bar. I have a feeling Engine 15 will continue to serve this need!

First the negative: brat sounded great and friend with me ordered one first. He said it was very good so I went ahead and ordered one after a few brews. First it didn't come out for 20 min, when I reminded the bartender, she said that they would cook a new one. When I finally received it seemed that they just reheated a previously cooked one. It was tough and rubbery. That being said this place is a bar and I didn't go for the food so let's get to the beer.

I started with a flight of 4 beers, 2 each of recommended ipa and wheat. The bartender made good choices and I got a large enough sample of each to make further decisions. Next I went with a cider and finished with a nice german beer. The tap selection was thoughtfully put together and the atmosphere reminded my friend and me of NYC. It's great to have a place like this in jax, go and enjoy yourself.

Hats off to the boys over at Engine 15.  This place is tiny but cosy, and they have a great craft beer selection.  Pretty soon they will be brewing their own beer.  This is exactly what the beaches needed.  Stopped in last night for some live music and a few pints of North Coast Red Seal.  They have a select food menu and are currently working on expanding it.  You gotta try the tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons.  Tasty!!  Next time your at the beach, do yourself a favor and stop in and check the place out.
