Ok, so this was probably one of the weirdest experiences I've had at a restaurant. Â So my friend and I was meeting here for happy hour and we've never been here before and wanted to check it out with all these high yelp reviews. Â So it started off good, the place was pretty empty when we first walked in so we opted to sit in a connected separate smaller room. Â We were then greeted by the owner himself and was quite friendly telling us the story of how this wine bar came about. Â We ordered a cheese/ meat platter, few wines and a tuna sandwich which the owner himself recommended it to us. We were quite enjoying ourselves when time passed and the owner shifted us to one of his servers which was fine with us so I ended up ordering a beer from her. Â
Minutes later, we saw servers come about and started moving tables around.  (no beer yet) ooookay....We overheard them saying that there was a large party coming in so we asked our server if we should move to another table.  She said that it would be okay if we stayed so we did.  But then the room started to fill up and there was people all around us talking and greeting each other and getting loud.  It was getting too intense so i ended up grabbing the rest of our food and scrambling out of there. We moved to the bar on the other end of the restaurant.  yup, no apologies from the server and still no beer.... okay looks like she forgot.  I caught her attention and finally got it.  Great, we sat there for a little longer and decided against a dessert so we asked for our check....
This comes the (what the hell part)  she takes the receipt and calls out the order to us pretty loudly.  um okay, we both nodded that it was ours.  then she proceeded to roll her eyes at it. Like she cant believe how little we ordered.  Um our bill was around $60, i think that's enough for happy hour. anyways we paid and we were left a bad taste in our mouth.  I know it was probably a fluke but we were really offended about it.
The service here is spectacular and the food is SOO good! Â I asked our server to pick a wine for me (which I LOVED and wished I'd gotten the name of), and we ordered the Chef's Charcuterie Plate (this is a selection made by the chef comprised of 3 meats and 3 cheeses). Â You MUST try this once. Â I tried both meats and cheeses I would NEVER have selected for myself, but LOVED. Â Their French Press is too good, too. Â Love love love this place.
Review Source:Great wine bar! If you are looking for wine, beer, cheese & a charcuterie plate, this is your place! They have an amazing selection of these four things plus some great salads & Â a few sandwiches & appetizers. If you are looking for a hearty meal, this is not your place, but as far as a a wine bar & light meal / wine & cheese tasting goes, this is the best place around!
And I've found the prices on their wine to be very competitive - when you buy bottles here you'll often pay a few dollars less than anywhere else.
I love love my girl(s) time.
I love to catch up one-on-one, or in a group.
I came here with a friend, and we spent about 3 hours drinking wine and eating our cheese/meat platter.
The weather was gorgeous. There's outdoor seating, fyi.
I thought the glasses were fairly expensive...we thought they were $6-$10/glass, but please note, it is "half glass." So we ended up paying about $12-20 for each glass.
Needless to say, we had a great time.
Best Wine Bar in Los Gatos, hands down. Â This place has a great, upscale yet relaxed atmosphere and now that the patio is open it's the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon (or even a chilly one with the heaters on).
The cheese and meat selections and appetizers are great so you can nibble while you sip the bruschetta is my favorite. But if you're hungry for a meal, the salads and sandwiches are awesome as well. Â
Added bonuses: Great wine club. Excellent retail wine shop. They make gorgeous gift baskets, too!
Came for lunch with a girl friend. Â Gorgeous interiors, delightful menu. Â I love that you can try lots of half glasses of wine and the recipes are all based on old family recipes that have been adapted for the enoteca. Â This place has lots of heart and the food is delicious. Â Love love love it!!!! Â Worth the drive. Â And did I mention that they can serve all of their sandwiches and crostini with gluten free bread? Â The bread is delicious - Mariposa Bakery toasted with olive oil.
Review Source:Attention Bay area foodies, this place is a GOGO. I can't believe there is such a uniquely neat spot hiding in Los Gatos. Many thanks to my sweetest roommate!
First of all, it is a wine bar so no doubt their wines are absolutely amazing. You won't be wrong with any choices. I am a red wine brat so I tried two glasses. One is Yardkick cab and the other one was... some fancy name that I really couldn't remember but its like 50% merlot, 33% cab, plus flavors with bunches of fruits... Both are amazing. Simply amazing. They are so smooth and feeling like melting in your mouth. Then the flavor is swimming in your mouth for a little while... OMG I start drooling again...
Second, their bites are delicious! We had two Sofia Tricolore and ate them in different ways. You can either mix the topping or taste separately. We would recommend to mix them, though. Definitely experience talks. LOL Then we had Bolsano Crostini which is good if you are a sweets person.
Third, let's talk about the deserts. You have to try Chocolate Hazelnut Cake with Bacon. Oh yeah you heard me. Bacon with cake. Best match EVER. They are not TOO sweet and the crispy bacon goes with wines so well and they both are melting together...
Final star is for the service. The servers are so professional, so kind and so lovely. The Sofia Tricolore comes with three pieces but we had four people that night. Without any requirement, the server brought us four pieces. How thoughtful! And the other server recommend me the yardkick which now jumps on the top of my wine list! Thanks for making our night more fabulous!
I left one star for the cheese platter. Oh yeah I am definitely going back. That is something I wanna try for sure and more wines.
Great spot. Do not miss out if you are around or reasonable close. See you there? :)
Absolutely in love with this place!
Yummy Yummy wine!!!! and in the end, that's what a great wine bar is all about! The cheese pairings are delicious as are the small bites and salads. BUT the true winner here is their dessert! I'm not even sure what it's called, but it's the one that takes 20-25 to make. DEFINITELY worth the wait! I've ordered it twice and continue to dream about it! lol!
Good atmosphere too!
I docked a star because as many times as I've been here, the service has been less than excellent. From lagging on their greeting to having a bit of an attitude....the servers need a bit of a pep talk so that they can live up to the excellence of the business. Otherwise, it'll start turning people (like myself), who are faithfuls of Enoteca, away.
This place is a hidden gem! Â The wine selections are great and their appetizers are delish. Â Don't come expecting to eat a full meal though. Â They don't have a full kitchen. Â
However, if you're feeling sexy and just craving wine, cheese, cured meats, sandwiches or salads then bring your significant other here for a fabulous date night.
This place is amazing. In a nutshell it's an Italian Tapas joint with very much a Napa Valley feel. Walk in, sit down inside or outside and treat yourself to a reasonably priced menu of cheeses. There is a large selection of cheese and all are served with bread. The menu is large but not overwhelming. Just large enough that you can go in he everyday for a month and try something different each time.
What is cheese and bread without wine and beer. They have a good selection of these as well. Aside from the cheese the do have a few sandwiches and salads on the menu but for approximately $5-$8 a plate I'd stick wit the excellent cheeses and an excellent pint of Heff:)
Good atmosphere, good priced, good quality, and attentive staff. Thumbs up here folks! Visit Napa cheese tasting without the 2hr drive.
Best Wine Bar in the South Bay- Great selection of wines and friendly staff.  You can do whatever you want here- drink wine, have  a plate, another glass etc...  Just go at your own speed.  The wines are a great variety of European and California wines- a lot you can't find any place else.  The food pairs well with the wines too!  Great mix of meats, cheeses and salads too.
Review Source:This place is wonderful. All the staff are super friendly and knowledgable. The wine was delicious and the food we ordered was also great.
We split the caprese, gorgonzola salads, Pane Bianco (cheesy yummy focaccia bread) also the Burrata cheese plate. We had the Italian wine flight and ended up buying 2 of the wines we sampled. The desert was to die for, it was a special called Sfogliatelle a puff pastry filled with ricotta.
The outdoor patio was perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
My favorite wine bar hands down!
I love the wine selections by the glass and the bottle selection. I love the ambiance and decor, the variety of meats and cheeses, crostinis, and the pane bianco (focaccia with pecorino and truffle oil). Â Every employee I've interacted with has been very knowledgeable and attentive. I can tell them what I'm in the mood for and have not been disappointed with their suggestions.
Tried this place out since my hair place is nearby.   The panini at Safeway is better than theirs.  I think they used day old bread and it was dry and cold. Wine was just okay and very expensive.  Our tab for 2 glasses of  average wine, one salad, and one paninini was 60.00 not including tip.  The decor is nice and they have done a good job with the acoustics.
Review Source:This is just a wine bar, not a place for a meal. Â The service is very kind and very attentive, but seriously, don't go here hungry. Â They don't exactly have much for tables, more like bars for up to 4 people. Â We got a bunch of salami, cheeses, breads, but it was not exactly a real meal.
Review Source:I've been wanting to try a new wine bar and decided this was going to be the place. Came here around 7:00pm on a Sunday night. Not busy at all, sat down right away.
We ordered a piccolo size house mix which included cheese, meat, bread, and dips. The cheeses and meats were definitely your ordinary cheese you can buy from regular grocery stores.
I had 3 glasses of bubbles. The Rose Brut and Cava were both good. Although the pours could be bigger, I'm used to the glass filled close to the rim, but this was like 3/4 of the glass. Bf ordered only 2 glasses.
Prices were normal. Bill came out to be $90 w/o tip.
Service was good. The guy who helped us came by at least 3 times so check on us. Â
One of the nicer wine bars and spacious. There's a second room.
This is my favorite wine bar. It's small and cozy and there's an outdoor patio. Every time I've been here, I've witnessed servers and managers GENUINELY go above and beyond to satisfy customer service. I emphasis GENUINE because there are places where I request for certain things, and I'd get a "i don't wanna do it but i have to" look, but every one here that has helped me with requests, do it with a smile. :)
My bf and I were both introduced to our favorite wine here...which so happens to be the type of wine we never even liked before. A type of pinot noir- 2011 belle glos clark & telephone. PERFECT.
The appetizers are okay. I'm fairly new to the wine world so I haven't been practicing my food pairings yet, but I'd say Enoteca offers a pretty good list of appetizers, cheese, and meat plates.
Nobody seems to have heard of this place when I talk about it, so clearly I need to do more to spread the word. Â This place is fantastic! Â The staff is very knowledgeable about wine and will find you something to please your palate. Â The selection is large but not overwhelming. Â They specialize in Italian and Italian style wines, so this is is the perfect place to try out something you might not be familiar with. Â And then if you like it, next time buy a bottle of it because that is the more economical way to go here.
The only downside is that it can get pricey. Â When we go too hungry we usually end up with a big bill. Â You can't eat dinner here--it's just cheese, charcuterie, and small bites. Â Everything looks good, but the costs add up. Â The sandwiches are a better bet if you are hungry--they are enough for a light lunch and super tasty and not too pricey.
Possibly the best feature is that they offer dessert. Â This is the perfect place to retire to after a dinner out in the LG for dessert and a glass of port or petite sirah!
Okay so i'm not a fan of snobs and I have to say as much as i love this place the people that work there can be on that end of the spectrum. i had previously rated them a 5 but going down a few notches due to service. i had recently just called to place a quick phone order and i was on hold for over 7 minutes w/o anyone picking back up.....i hung up called back an VM saying they are busy to leave a message. hmmmm
20 min later i'm giving them a start back. I let them know about the long wait and they were nice enough to give me 25% off. The guy did apologize and apparently he was the guy on the floor and taking calls...at lunch time. They prob just needed help and need to communicate a little better. but they were nice about it when i came in.
This is the best wine bar in Los Gatos hands down. Best in the South Bay.
We were able to have a company party here which opened my eyes to the great selection of wine, great food, and great service. They have an amazing happy hour too that I have not even made it to yet (only Mon through Thurs).
Soft Jazz music, huge white marble slab to swirl your wine on, and a deli-like open kitchen where you can see your food being made. The cheese and meat platters are what you would get in Italy, and they have a variety of wines outside the U.S.
They really have a good selection of wines to buy there, that are harder to find. Kathryn Kennedy, PlumpJack, etc are some that I browsed recently. Prices on these are $$$, but not like buying wine at the car wash (inside LG joke).
Basically, they give you a taste of every wine your order to make sure you like it, they will even give you a flight of 3 wines to taste for free, just to pick out your perfect glass. Can't wait to joing the wine club!
We came here on a Sunday evening with a group of 20-25 people, and the hostess was very accommodating. Â The ambiance was very eclectic with dark woods, marble bar, artistic lighting, ceiling, wine wall, and friendly staff.
The wine list had a perfect mix of wine categorized by type, and then a selection from surrounding (and some European) wine regions.
The food menu was equally impressive, ranging from finger crostini, cured meats and cheeses, salads, paninis, desserts - something for everyone, yes!
'10 Darcie Kent DeMayo Chardonnay (Livermore Valley, CA) - Just as described by the wine menu, very fruity, hints of vanilla. Nice and light.
Bolzano - The fig spread was like a drop of honey melting in my mouth, with the arugula and mascarpone kicking in after, and then you realize "wow!" A good play on sweet, bitter, and salty.
Piccante - The salami and pecorino were top-notch. The drizzle of truffle honey sealed the deal.
Sfgoliatelle - If there were ever an orange-flavored cloud sent from heaven, this would be it! Warm, fluffy, orange-scented ricotta, surrounded by buttery, not overly sweetened layers of puff pastry. YOU MUST TRY THIS! It is a 25 minute wait, but definitely worth it!
My first time here made me a fan! It's a really cute set up with a dining room and a bar, then a second bar area with smaller tables and bar seating. The bartenders are  accommodating and quick. Upon sitting at the bar, they won't hesitate to hand out menus and glasses of water without being asked.
My fellow diner and I ordered a glass of wine each (one red and a Pinot Bianco) and shared a Proposta della Casa which is a variation of cheeses, meats, and tapenade. Our bartender took the initative to explain to what everything was and what paired well together. When you run out of bread, you will be served additional.
Will definitely visit again! It's a great place to be dressy with a date, or even casual with your girlfriends.
I was finishing a trip with a bit of wine tasting.  They have a good range of not ridiculously prices wines.  The servers knew the products well.  They had some decent  food to share -  I did wish it had a better variety though.  I purchased some really outstanding olives to go, which seemed to surprise the staff.
Nice beer selection too!
SUCH a cute place!!! In my BF's home town area. After the wedding we attended we figured we wanted to go to a nice wine bar. Found this place of course on Yelp. Great wine bar I must first say. Upon entering we put our name in for two, the guy told us it would be about 10-15 minute wait and he was apologetic about it, which we didn't mind at all. Then he said here some complimentary champagne for waiting-- awesome!
We were seated by the window (love window seats) and I got some amazing Pinot Noir, and the bf got some cabs. Then we got the trio of bruschetta delicious and then after two cheeses. One was pericrino pear which was on one of the bruschettas but it wasn't as good by itself.
Next time Im in Los Gatos Ill be coming here!
Great wine bar with a cool modern interior and outdoor patio. We tried the Lamadrid Bonarda a red wine from Argentina, the Cold Heaven Viognier from Ca. and the N Zero from Italy which we thought was the best of the three. They have wonderful selection of wines on the back wall for sale at various price levels. Had to get two bottles of the N Zero to go.
Tried the house mix of meats and cheeses, the piccolo, along with the olive sampler and the Gorgonzola salad with dry roasted pistachios. Everything was delicious but the spicy salami on bread with truffle honey was addictive. Â Next time I will create my own piccolo.
Service was outstanding. This place should not be missed.
This is one of my favorite hangout places.
The best thing about this place is Joe, the owner and the great service you get here. Joe is always attentive and will do his rounds mingling with the patrons.
First off, this is more of a drinking and hangout place than a restaurant. So don't come here expecting a great dining experience because there's no kitchen to cook so all you will get is a lot of antipasto type dishes, salads and cold sandwiches and kick ass desserts. What makes the food great are the fresh ingredients and the quality of the cured meats. The cheeses available here are really good.. one of the best places for wine and cheese for sure. The small plates of cheeses, cured meats and salads go really well with wine that you can order here. Most of the wines are italian wines with a limited selection of Californian wines. There's a corkage fee if you want to bring you own bottle of wine. Joe won't mind :).
