First time visit to Eve's. Have never eaten German cuisine until now. Upon recommendation my wife and I tried the Jager Schnitzel and were surprised at both the quality and quantity of food. The Spaetzle noodles were superb. Overall everything was served with excellence, with a slight indifferent attitude as to suggestions for first-time customers. Not all of us are locals.
Review Source:Visited Eve's Cafe last week and wanted to post a short update. Â The food is still as good as ever, but the dining room has been repainted and generally brightened up. This most recent visit also reminded me one of my favorite things here is the home-made German salad dressing. Â I've tried unsuccessfully to duplicate it, and the owner just chuckles when I ask about his recipe! Â Keeps me coming back!
Review Source:Overall, Eve's Cafe is a great spot! Â It's cute and quaint with a nice menu. Â The young staff could have been a touch friendlier, but as a former teenage server, all is forgiven. Â The schnitzel was not even close to a favorite for me, but the spaetzle and house salad were incredibly delicious! Â My husband enjoyed his schnitzel but mine was just far too thick. Â We'll probably never head back to this part of Texas - but if we did, we'd head over the Eve's in a heartbeat! Â There was so much more on the menu that I would like to try!
Review Source:I am slowly coming to terms with Central Texas' lack of delicious German/Czech/Bavarian food. Â I love the stuff but it is quite sparce. Â
Luckily a drive up 281 will take me to Lampasas and Eve's on the Square. Â Tucked into the northside of Lampasas' historic square, Eve's always leaves me wondering when I'll get to come back next!
I usually get the jagerschnitzel. Â The pork cutlet is delicous, especially when I mix it together with the brown gravy and spaetzle AND red cabbage! Â
And while we are talking about spaetzle, let me just say, of the German food spots in Central Texas, MOST of them don't even have my friendly fried egg noodles, and that makes me sad! Â Luckily, Eve's spaetzle is buttery, authentic, and delicious.
Let's not forget they also sell half liters of true German beer: Â Erdinger, Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, etc.
And then there are the delicous pastries. Â I usually come away with a MEGA-STRUDEL. Â
Most importantly, this is a local Lampasas business. Â Do your self a flavor and get up there!
Best restaurant in Lampasas as far as we can tell. Â Still the food is mostly fried and heavy. Â The Jagerschnitzel with Spatzle was the best item we found on the menu. Â Bratwurst was very bland. Â Vegetables did come with the food which we appreciated. Â Basically, this is still Texas food, which isn't our favorite. Â The German twist helps, though. Â Staff provides excellent service. Â Atmosphere is pleasant.
