The Exchange is right down the street from us and we have been here many times but just finally catching up on my Yelp reviews. Â Bottom line is that the food is delicious. Â Have tried several things on the menu and can't say there hasn't been anything we didn't enjoy. Â They just recently changed their menu and last night was our first time in since they did. Â I have to say we were a little disappointed to see the coffee crusted Filet no longer on the menu...usually either my husband or I would order it every time...it was that good. Â Last night they had a shrimp appetizer with lo-mein noodles and bernaise sauce...doesn't sound immediately like it would all go together but it was fantastic. Â The chef is very creative and everything tastes fresh. Â My husband got the house made pasta which is on the menu as an alfredo...it was absolutely delicious. Â I do not like alfredo but I couldn't stop stealing bites of his! Â Good size portions for the "small plates" and decent pricing. Â Tasty martinis as well. Â Only wish the bigger plate menu was a little more extensive or have more entree specials.
Review Source:The Exchange exceeded all expectations that I had. My girlfriend and I went there to celebrate our three year anniversary the other night. We found the food and service to be excellent! The Coffee Crusted Fillet and the Soku Tuna are must haves, and the truffle fries are a great starter. As far as their drinks go, you can't go wrong. I had an excellent Manhattan and the Martinis that we tried were top notch. To top it off, the atmosphere is great. If you're looking to try a new place in Portsmouth, stop by The Exchange and you won't be disappointed.
Review Source:The Exchange just opened in the space that used to be a tanning salon next door to "Mojo's". Â The Restaurant says on their sign that it is "The West End Place to Meet". Â When you walk in there is a long bar that runs the length of the left wall and high top tables, and a large couch/padded bench sitting area that take up the right side of the room. Â It is really a nice space which is welcoming. Â
The menu is made up of all small plates, and there are usually a couple specials which seem to be a little bigger portion. Â When you sit down you are given a sampler of treats to munch on which is candied walnuts peanuts and popcorn. Â The food has all been very good and the portion size is appropriate for the price which is 9-14 dollars. Â The standouts for me were the blue cheese scallops, the pork belly, and the duck flatbread. Â All were delicious.
The martini menu is extensive with something for everyone. Â
A great addition to the west end and worth stopping in.
