Terrible thai food! I ordered the most basic pad thai and it was basically noodles cooked in soy sauce. Never coming to this place again!

I really liked this place. I say "liked" because I tried to go there today only to find it closed and up for lease. Was a bit shocked as I just ate there two weeks ago. It was usually quite empty, though. Very sad to see it go.

Okay for lunch, nothing special. A bit expensive...

I agree with the other reviewer from this month.  My partner and I would go often, it is our favorite place in town.  But recently something seems very off.  The service use to be amazing, the food couldn't be beat.  On our last visit the service was simply terrible, and there were just three tables of customers.  The food, while editable, was no where near as great as it once was.  It seemed like pre made frozen food.  The chef or recipes have clearly changed.  My guess is the place has changed owners.  I'm glad to know it wasn't just us, but I'm truly sad for his once amazing restaurant.

Okay, this used to be one of my favorite restaurants in town. It was always a default because you knew you could get decent service and reliably delicious food. However in the last few weeks I have been there a couple of times and everything seems off. I have a sneaking suspicion that they either have new owners/management or a new chef. Both the soup and meal were delivered not quite cold but not warm enough to eat and when sent back they were just put in the microwave. Their signature salad dressing which was one of my favorite dressings is gone and each time the meals tasted just a  little different and not quite as good. Sadly I don't have any desire to go back. It's just not the same place.

Amazing food. One of the best Thai places in lafayette. I always go with cashew chicken or yellow curry and I always leave the place satisfied. Wish the ambience and service was a little better.

Try their Yellow, Green curry. Those are the best!! (Combination fried rice and Pad thai are good as well)

I've only been here once.  I may give it another day in court, but I wasn't impressed.

The pad thai was very, very sweet.  Way too sweet.  Did I mention sweet?  not good.

On the other hand, the chicken satay was very good, as was the green curry.

With such an iconic dish being so wrongly done, I just can't give more than the 2 stars... And I'm not sure if I'll give the place another try.

    Fresh ingredients
    Good service
    Clean

    Quick, fresh, and delish.
For the reviewer (Janice) who was confused about the prik king, there are many Thai curries and prik king. Mu pad prik-king, pri- king tua... + lots of others. So, read the menu description and ask the server for info. This place has great sushi (for Lafayette).

I have been here many times over the past few years, as the offerings for Thai restaurants in the area are somewhat limited.

Generally good food, wouldn't write home about it but would never complain either.

I was not a fan of the sushi when I tried it, but the Tofu Tad appetizer is awesome, and I really like their pad thai.

The waitstaff can be very difficult to understand; but for the poor college students arguing over who has to pay the bill, they are very good about letting you split it up etc.

Something that must be said...If you are in a hurry, do not eat here. While the servers are nice enough, the process is quite slow, from ordering drinks to finally getting your check. You must either be very demanding or very patient.

My experiences with the food have been positive, though I don't exactly know what makes acceptable sushi or Thai food. I always order the vegetarian sushi simply because I'm not a fan of fish. I cannot remember its name, but the sushi that contains sweet potato is lovely. The taste is subtle, warm and very filling. Considering the Thai food, I prefer either the yellow curry or the basil rice. Neither of them are too spicy (hot), and if it's cold outside, they really hit the spot.

As others have mentioned before me, the decor is cheap with plastic roses and tablecloths on every table. I don't mind this simply because I go there when I'm craving something, not when I'm trying to impress anyone.

All in all, if you want a leisurely, filling meal, Exotic Thai is the place for you.

Had been here once for a quick meal after going to the Tipp Mall and was extremely disappointed.  As you have seen on my other reviews, I do tend to be harsh on Thai restaurants but this place is really really really REALLY bad in my opinion.  Still havn't decided if McDonald's is better.

First of all, none of the food is close to what they should be.  Pad prik king, was served in coconut milk, looked a little like red curry.  Traditionally, Pad prik king is stir fried green beans with pork with curry paste, no coconut milk, and certainly served dried.

We also ordered fried rice and it was extremely sweet, not eatable.

    What a disappointment.

The decor is not the best. Plastic tablecloths, that sort of thing. The waitresses were very nice and very hard to understand. The service was excellent and sometimes too good...felt like they were watching me at times.

As for the food, it was just ok.  I had the Thai Toast, which was a fried something with a sweet sauce. Was pretty tasty. For our meals my wife and I had yellow chicken curry and lemon grass chicken. The curry was very good flavor-wise. The lemon grass tasted like lemon grass, but personally I was just trying something new and didnt think it was that great.

The problem is their meat/veggie ingredients. The meat is food court meat. You know how no matter what restaurant is handing out free samples at a mall food court, they all give you the same piece of chicken? That's the chicken they serve here and it may even be of worse quality than food court chicken.

The veggies were sliced into micro pieces which made it harder to eat than it should have been. Could barely stab one.

Prices are decent. Overall it is a pretty normal strip-mall Asian restaurant, but the meat was pretty nasty. There are much better Thai places in town.

I haven't had the Thai food here, but the sushi, all things considered, gets three-and-a-half stars.  Had the Sushi Combo A ($9.25), hamachi nigiri ($3.95) and a dynamite roll ($4.75) last night.

The combo was pretty solid, consisting of ebi, white tuna (yum!), tuna, snapper and salmon nigiri, a salmon hand roll, and cucumber and salmon maki (three pieces each).  The nigiri portions were generous and tasted pretty good.  The salmon in the maki was very generous, as was the hand roll.  The hamachi was okay, maybe not as good as I've had elsewhere.  And the dynamite roll was tasty.

All this and ice tea (+ refills) for $20.66 plus tip.  Not bad.  This probably would have run me $35.00+ at Bea One.  If you like sushi, give Exotic Thai a try.  (And check out my pictures.)

The first Thai I've ever tried and I love it.  Their Pad Thai is amazing, it's hard not to get it every time I go there.  Love their Tom Yum Gai and all their curries, as well as their scallops.  My favorite appetizer is probably their sate, although their mee krob is great as well.

The service is usually very fast and attentive.  Very reasonably priced.  Well worth it.

Coming from California, I've been to a lot of really great Thai restaurants, and after all the rave reviews about Exotic Thai I've heard from people in West Lafayette/Lafayette, I was excited to try it.  Unfortunately, this restaurant was disappointing.

I ordered the Pad Thai, which is something that is generally pretty hard to mess up.  What I received was pink and undercooked - the noodles were hard!  My boyfriend ordered the yellow curry, which was ok but nothing to write home about.  Hopefully the new Thai Essence is better!

This is the better of the two Thai restaurants in a 50 mile radius around the Purdue campus.  The food is pretty good.  It's never very crowded on a weekday night but Friday night seems busier.  The service is very friendly and nice.  The coconut fried rice is very good and I always get the pad see ew also along with green curry (spicy, spicy!).

Overall, as a lover of Thai food, I feel lucky to have this Thai restaurant here.  :)
