For what it is it's not bad, it's included with your purchase of Rafting on the Delaware (Frenchtown, NJ side, not sure about PA) Â I got 2 hot dogs which were actually pretty crisp, the frozen snickers wasn't quite so frozen but I guess when your stand is sitting in the sun on a river it's kind of hard to keep things frozen. Â They give you soda in a Styrofoam cup which was a little annoying but understandable to try and keep non biodegradable trash down on the river. Â If you were actually paying out of pocket though the prices are pretty outrageous, $5 for a dog and I think it was $7 for a cheeseburger and $8 for chicken sandwich, $2 for a cup of soda and $2 for a tiny bag of chips and/or a candy bar. Â Oh well whatevers, it's pretty cool standing in line in the water to get your food.
Review Source:Yuck! Â I only "dined" at this floating hot dog stand because lunch was included in the price of admission for Delaware River Rafting. Â A not-so-insignificant $37 gets you a floating tube, a fountain soda, a bag of chips and your choice of a cheeseburger or two hot dogs. Â My friend opted for the hot dogs. Â What a disappointment! Â You'd think that "famous" hot dogs would, at the very least, be grilled. Â Instead, these dogs were boiled. Â Gross.
As for me, I waited in a long line and paid an extra $2 for the veggie burger (I don't eat the street meat in Manhattan. Â I'm not interested in the river meat of New Jersey). Â After paying, they told me I had to get into another line to actually order the burger. Â I waited. Â When I got to the front, I was told I could only get drinks in that line and that I would need to get in yet another line to order the veggie burger. Â Even though the guy on the grill was literally standing right next to him, and he could have easily said, "Please throw a veggie burger on the grill." Â But no. Â So I waited again - for the third time! - just so someone would actually start cooking the veggie burger that I ordered and paid for 25 minutes earlier. Â I don't understand their line system, and I could tell I wasn't the only one. Â It was completely disorganized. Â
35 minutes later, I received my burger. Â It was burnt to a crisp! Â I would have complained and ordered a new one, but it took forever to get the burger in the first place, my friends were waiting on me, I was starving and I just couldn't be bothered anymore. Â What an awful experience.
My last criticism is their use of styrofoam cups. Â There is going to be waste no matter what. Â I understand that. Â But couldn't they at least use biodegradable paper cups? Â While I'm sure most people do their part to properly dispose of their garbage before getting back in their tubes, I have no doubt that plenty of cups end up floating down the river. Â Seeing as styrofoam has some 57 chemical by-products and takes YEARS to break down, I'm not sure why they would use the least environmentally friendly type of cup while literally serving food/drinks on a river. Â It feels very irresponsible.
My advice. Â Pack a lunch in an airtight container and skip this floating food truck.
