I honesty wasn't impressed. Should've known by the less than enthusiastic personality of the kid who took my order that the sandwiches would be less than good. Ingredients are fine, but they are clearly not paying attention to how they put these things together- and the bread? Not that great.

There's much better sub joints in Denver.

This is a no frills sandwich shop. There are no crazy cheeses or condiments, just the classics on great bread. They make the food fast and it hits the spot.

    Solid sandy spot.

Pro tip: There is no seating so plan on carrying out.

Good, solid subs. They make them large! But don't expect a place to eat afterwards - there is no seating available. Take out only.

Ate here today.  I had the"Don" and it was the best I've had in years.  They don't cheat you in the meat department.  Everything was fresh and the staff was great.  I highly recommend Fat Jack's.

Placed an order for pick-up...glad they take call-in orders.
Wanted something better than Subway, but wasn't going to do the drive to Snarfs (which I love!).  Had The Fax while hubby had the Gold Coast.
At 1st glance, it's longer than expected, but not oozing with ingredients.  With that said, it wasn't lacking flavor.  I did like the bread!  The best analogy is a sub like one you'd make at home.  Real easy, not spectacular in sight....but surprisingly satisfying without feeling heavy or too much.  Price was right, location easy, ordering was easy, sub was satisfying.  I'll be back to try another.

Within walking distance of my work and had a nice selection of fresh sandwiche where they don't skimp on the ingredients.

I've never had a bad meal or bad customer service here -- that's a HUGE plus in my book!

    This place rocks.

As a college student at DU, we would order Fat Jacks every now and then for delivery when we were up late cramming for finals. They've always been tasty, no doubt about that.

I finally went in to the place itself to order take out and was very pleased to find that the staff matches the quality of the sandwiches. There are a ton of sandwiches to choose from, or you can even just make your own. There are a lot of tasty toppings and sauces, and the bread is out of this world. Their home-made pickles are the icing on the cake. Very tasty!

Do yourself a favor-next time, skip Subway or Jimmy Johns and come here-support an awesome local sandwich shop.

Just went there by mistake today and I loved it!  You can tell the ingredients are fresh and it tasted like it too. I was a little worried it was a chain but the workers there told me there are only 3 locations and since I prefer to eat at local small businesses, I will definitely be coming back here.  For only about $5, you get a nicely sized, fresh, and tasty sub.  Can't beat it!

For untoasted subs, it really doesn't get better than this. The ingredients are super fresh and their bread is made in house and probably my favorite component. I have been going here since I was a freshman in college and my feelings have always stayed the same!
I recommend the Gold Coast Sub and the Giovanni.

Very good execution of a simple concept: the sandwich.
There is nothing about Fat Jack's that will knock you off your feet but they surely get it just right. Hot subs, cold subs, regional favorites they have it all. Very good bread, they don't have all the options in the world but it's certainly the good stuff. I'm not sure what the sizes of these subs are but it's just the right size. Everything was just right, I was very pleased and it hit the spot perfectly. Very friendly folks too.

Awesome subs. Much better than Jimmy Johns, but only open late three days a week to JJ's seven. The #12 is great, with nice big chunks of avocado. The delivery was not as fast as Jimmy Johns but it was still not bad, only 30 minutes, but the Fat Jack's location is also significantly further from where I live than Jimmy John's.
Fat Jack's seems to use higher quality ingredients than competitors while still keeping prices within a buck or two of the competitors. Overall a great place, not sure what else to say, good sandwiches, and a good price.

I worked at this location for almost 3 years - but that was several years ago, so I think the time away has given me the hindsight to write a clear, honest review.

I LOVE Fat Jacks. I was a subway employee so I am well versed in there subs, I lived around the corner from a quizno's, so I too know their subs and I've even had my Jimmy John's phase and my vote is definitely for Fat Jack's.

They key part is that the bread is as fresh as you will ever get. Often, and especially for lunch it would come hot out of the oven and be served while it was still warm.

You can not go wrong here if you want a warm loaf full of fresh veggies and quality slices of meat.

I'd recommend The Don, The Big Baller or The Fax.

Sandwiches are very difficult to have many veggie options. Quiznos and Subway have barely anything veggie that's not just a big pile of lettuce.

So I was pleasantly surprised by the veggies sandwich I was able to come up with at Fat Jack's. Got the cheese, some fresh avocado, a bit of mayo, onions, sprouts, and tomato. It's a nice veggie sandwich that feels me up and has a nice creaminess. The bread is also above average. Not to use sexual innuendo, but it's thick and filling.

Also this place is super-cheap. I get my sandwich for less than a 5-spot, and it's made within just a couple minutes. Right near the light rail station so it works perfect for me on my way to my buddy's house.

All in all, a great little sandwich shop that rises above the rest of the national chains in this city.

Fat Jack's is a great sub shop.  It uses high quality ingredients and delivers a consistently good sandwich, and I have had many.

The best parts of Fat Jack's are the quality and the delivery.  Fat Jack's might have been invented as a hangover cure?  The subs are consistently good and never leave you hungry.

Down sides: Sometimes the delivery is a bit slow and it is on the pricey side for a sub shop.  Jimmy John's delivers high quality subs too, but they are a few dollars less.

Overall, great place.  Friendly staff.  And, most importantly, yummy.

I really love this sub place-  Beats the heck out of Subway and Jimmy Johns.  The bread is made fresh there, the toppings are fresh and there are a wide variety of choices, and the people have always been exceptionally nice.

My two favorite subs at Fat Jacks are the meatball (with provalone, black olives and lettuce) and the the Fax (#11) with light mayo and add avocado.

You can't beat this place for subs!

Its a decent sandwich. I always try the Italian (or closest version) at each new sandwich shop/deli I visit first. In my mind, the Italian should be the flagship of any good sando shop and usually serves as a good indicator of the quality you will find in other items. That being said, the "Italian" here was above average, but nothing to brag about. The bread was OK... it probably would have been better toasted. The sandwich is overrun with too much mayo. It'll do in a pinch, but I would rather drive a little further if time allows to get something else.

This sandwich shop is great. They already have 2 vegetarian sandwich options on the menu without having to ask them to make something special (awe!). The rabbit something or other veggie sandwich is super duper good. I have always had friendly and quick service. This is not a sit down place so be prepared to go in for the goods and get out. A new location is open on Leetsdale now which is closer to my work so I am hoping to get there more often for lunch. Fat Jacks you rule!!

If you read my yelps, you would know that I LA LA LA love sandwiches. Even my mom's bologna sandwich, but I wouldn't give her 5 stars.

I still search for Boar's Head at deli's but Thurmann's meats come in a very close second like 0.2 seconds behind the deli meat race.  I honestly don't care if I hype this place so much that you are disappointed because that means one less person in front of me in the line.

So the bf got the Don with extra oil and vinegar (you have to eat it right away otherwise it will soak right through the bread). I got the don juan, which half is sitting on the kitchen table so I could eat it as dessert. Let's talk about the bread: some wouldn't understand the balance of the flaky yet chewy bread against the oh so delicious deli meat.

Side note: cheesy chicken tortilla soup tastes like the frozen chimichanga's at costco (not a bad thing at all)

Its ok.  Nothing stands out.  I had the classic sub.Tasted like I went to king soopers and bought everything to make a sandwich at home.  3 stars says A-ok.  I cant go that far.  Classic sub, chips and 16oz drink $10 is too much.

Yummy bread. Fast Service. Friendly. Tons of choices.

Discovered this gem on the way out of town on a road trip! And it has an entertainment book coupon!
The bread was fresh out of the oven, and the taste was great!
Remember to pick your cheese selection. Pepper jack! And confirm your pickle!
If you want the wheat bread - make sure you'll be eating it in short order. It doesn't sit around well. (i ordered up some din din round 4:15, didn't get to eat it till 6:45 - little moooshie)

But the sub bread is amazing! Mmmm!

I've enjoyed The Classic and The Fax, hubby always goes with The Don.
I don't have a problem with the taste as others have, and yes the cost is a little high. This would be a "special occasion place for me - film on the rocks din din, pic nic in the park, road trip. Definitely worth it for that!

I don't understand the appeal of this place. The bread is like cardboard to me, only a slight upgrade from Subway, which is like styrofoam.

I've only had two sandwiches there, but couldn't distinguish which meats I got.  It all just tastes kind of sandwich-ey in that Subway way. What I mean is, it's not awful, but it sure doesn't taste like much. I guess people like this place because it's kind of edgy, with its hard rock playing loudly or something.  If your work buys sandwiches, go ahead, but I wouldn't spend my own money there.

I'm missing the part of every college student that enables us to live on sub par subs for years at a time, which is why I don't usually eat sandwiches in the Fort. FAT JACKS is an amazing sub shop (shoppe?) that I rarely pass up if I am in Denver. Maybe it's the memory of eating a warm delicious sub half wasted at some high school party at 3 a.m. (yes they deliver 'til then), or absolutely destroying a BLT with avocado in the back of my friend's truck during lunch, but I can't get enough.

Fond high school memories aside Fat Jacks has amazing warm bread and a pickle spear with every sub. The menu is extensive and covers any palette from meat lovers to vegetarians. I'm passionate about the Jack Rabbit (for veg heads) or the BLT (add avocado for near orgasmic taste). They also have soup if you're not feeling particularly hungry.

One more thing, they are FAST. Fast in store, fast out, and since their employees smell like the inside of a bag of weed and have tribal face tats, I'd call that quite an accomplishment.

Fat Jack's has that perfect bread.  It's got the perfect flavor, interior and exterior texture, and the sandwiches are just the right size for me.  I love this place.  The sandwiches can be a little expensive (about $8.50 after tax for what I get) but it's totally worth it.   I see a lot of people trying to compare them to places like Silvermine, Quizno's, Jimmy John's, Deli Zone, etc.  To be honest, Fat Jack's blows all of those places away, no competition.  They use real avocado, good quality cold cuts and decent cheeses, they have sprouts, which is awesome, and nice, crisp and healthy looking veggies in general.  It all really goes back to the bread, though, as that is truly what makes their sandwiches so great.

I ate at the Colfax location for years and I finally got a chance to try the Evans location, and they are exactly the same.  Great sandwich shop, possibly the best in Denver, for me.  Another good sandwich shop that's a little bit different is Fontano's on 16th and California.  They do a more Chicago style sub with crustier bread and mostly Italian cold cuts, but they have giardiniera, which is one of the best things, ever.  I'll review them sometime soon.  I loved the Blake Street Deli too, it's a shame they shut down and became a Deli Zone.  Feel free to hip me to other places you think I would like!

I give Fat Jack a 5 star because if you are looking for a wonderfully tasty sandwich, you cannot go wrong here.  My photo does not look all that amazing, but let me tell you about that scrumptious sub in the shot.  That is a Fat Jack, my friend, which has recently overcome my love of the Gold Coast.  I have moved on from the avocado to the meats.

This sandwich has mounds of turkey, roast beef, and pastrami, but you can pick your own 3 meats, all the veggies and sprouts you can fit in your mouth including salad-sized cucumber slices that give your bites that sought after crunch.

The bread is light and fresh, and even though this monster looks like an insurmountable task to finish, it goes down smooth and easy like a small grilled cheese.  Ok, that sounded gross, but you get my point.  Long Live Fat Jacks!!

Mmmmmmm, Fat Jack's. Better than Quiznos. Way better than Subway. Possibly even better than Jimmy John's, and that's saying a LOT! The bread is heavenly, and the toppings are piled on. Just reading the description of the the Gold Coast (turkey, sliced avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard + your choice of cheese) makes my mouth water. Go here for a quick meal, or order late night drunk food (they're open til 3am on weekends!).
