I've only been here twice, but I found the food to be wonderful and the ambiance very inviting as well. It's great to find a place in Martinsburg that is independant and that cares enough to serve quality food. I love seafood, and they serve a mean blackened catfish. I will make an effort to go here more often and support quality local restaurants!
Review Source:I went here for the first time about a month ago.
Pros: Delicious food.
Cons: Oh boy... Well, when we arrived we were told, after standing around waiting for a hostess for about 10 minutes, that it would be a 15 minute wait. I told the RUDE waiter that informed me of this that my friend and I would be waiting outside. We came back in after 15 minutes and stood there like deer in headlights for, LITERALLY, 15 MORE minutes before a girl who had no clue what was going on told us it was a 15 minute wait. I informed her that we had already waited half an hour. She then ran around like a chicken with her head cut off, apologizing and looking extremely distressed, for about 20 minutes, pointing out tables she "thought" would be leaving soon. Finally, a seat opened up at the bar and someone who had come in LONG after us just waltzed over and sat down. Thankfully, our distressed little hostess told him to get up and move. My friend sat down and she got a chair from another table to drag to the bar.
It was an insane nightmare. I have no idea why they don't have some sort of wait list where they can call people up as a table is cleared, instead of having 10 different people circulating the front, all trying to avoid eye contact with you because they don't have a good reason as to why you are waiting so long.
Finally, we sat at the bar and ordered. The bar tender was initially extremely rude. Very blunt and hurried, but then as things seemed to calm down she was better.
The food really was astounding, which is why I would return. However, they seriously need to work on their service and get some structure in that place.
Also, the inside is very tiny so I wouldn't recommend going with any more than 4 people.
My mom doesn't have a Yelp account so I decided to post this about my family's first and recent experience at Fat Tuesday's:
"We took your sister out for supper before taking her back down to Shepherd University. She had the oyster plate, your dad had the Chesapeake chicken and I had grilled salmon. The food was delicious and it was nice and clean. Our waitress went above and beyond; she was so nice and explained their menu items to us. We split our dessert three ways - we had the "death by chocolate" cake (awesome!). It's a really neat place to eat...when you guys come back up we will have to go there for supper."
Looks like I know where my boyfriend and I will be eating when we come back to the Eastern Panhandle.
First off parking was a little wonky, second, their hostess stand is blocked by a fake tree so, as we stood by the "wait to be seated" sign at the bottom of some steps the hostess basically talked to us through the fake tree.
Bar table seating, or sit at the big bar. Very small and limited menu, food was better than I expected. I had the scallops and alfredo... although not the best I've had, just ok. My friend ordered a 'Well Done' burger which came out very pink as if it were perhaps 'Medium Well' rather.
Our waitress was friendly and funny as she jinxed herself and over-filled my friends sweet tea trying to pour left-handed... she quickly came back and mopped up the mess. Their was also some band practicing in the back toward the middle of our meal... kinda wished they either played or left, heh. I don't think I'd really recommend this place unless you just wanted to have a drink at the bar. *2.9 Stars*
We enjoyed our lunch here today. Â I got the catfish platter, blackened, with a side salad and the days special side, cole slaw. Â The catfish was perfectly cooked! Â Juicy and just the right spices. Â The side salad was great! Â Obviously freshly made and cut, not just throw from the bag it came in. Â Best of all was the Cole Slaw, hand cut and the addition of sliced green olives was out of the ordinary, yet so scrumptious! Â Hubby got the chicken tenders, which were obviously hand cut and breaded; not the usual uniform pieces that are frozen and fried. Â We look forward to going back!
Review Source:I have been wanting to go here since the opening, so tonight I had my chance. Â We were greeted immediately and seated. Â I was impressed with the place, it has been nicely remodeled. Â
So, no MIller Lite on draft, so a bottle worked just fine. Â We started with the cajun popcorn aka fried crawfish (Crayfish as others say). Â I liked the breading and they were pretty good. Â The sauce to me is like a remoulade sauce. Â Next time I will try the calamari.
So on to the main course. Â I decided for the shrimp po-boy. Â It arrived and contained 6 large, breaded shrimp, lettuce, tomato and sauce. Â The bread to me was perfect. Â I enjoy the plainness of a po-boy. Â Â It came with a huge stack of french fries. Â They were ok. Â Price was about $11.00. Â
I think they need to play some cajun, zydeco music for your listening pleasure while dining. Â
I will be back to try some of the other menu items, shrimp creole, red beans and rice, etc.
I have to say the service was excellent.
Wow, what a fantastic job the new owners Jim & Jason have done with this building. Â
These two men have managed to take an old establishment that for years has had a bad reputation and reform it into an honest to goodness respectable restaurant & bar. The interior has been completely redesigned with natural woods and a warm welcoming feeling. Â
When you enter you are greeted by Randy (General Manager), Jim (owner), Krista or one of the beautiful ladies that work tirelessly.
I went in a few days after the opening to pick up a menu and see what this place was all about. I had no plans of staying but did. Â
Ordered  the Gumbo which was the best that I have had since a child in Houston, Texas.
Wow, fresh Gulf Shrimp, Fresh Okra, Amazing flavor. Fresh and seasoned perfectly ( not for the meek). Po-Boys are another great offering with your choice of Shrimp, Oysters, Cat Fish or whatever
Jason (owner/Chef) & Josh (Chef) are doing something that most restaurants around here don't do! They are making everything with fresh ingredients and from scratch. Everything is cooked to order so this isn't fast food.
What a treat.
It's totally worth a try
