Finnegan's is a Huntsville "institution" -- it's been around FOREVER. I just read that it was established in 1977. The live piano playing entertainment at Finnegan's is fun. To it's credit, it's a local bar, it has a neighbhood feel, and I believe they still sponsor the "Worlds smallest St. Patrick's Day Parade" or at least Finnegan's marks the ending point of the short parade.
Last time I went, it was super smoky, and smoke does not normally bother me and I had the worst wine ever. If I recall corectly, the  bartender, to his credit, really tried to steer me away from having wine there. Too bad I didn't listen to him. It's owner recently passed away, and I think her sister is running it now. Give Finnegan's,  a try, just to say you did (But stick with the beer or cocktails) :-) Enjoy the piano player -- she's awesome!
Finnegan's is Huntsville's take on an Irish pub. Â It's a decent space and can get a decent crowd of easy-going locals. Â It's always fun to use the dartboard and there aren't many bar conversation pieces in Huntsville. Â However, you'll get a migraine from the smoke & the beer selection is generic Irish standard.
