A late lunch for three was a pleasure of outdoor dining midweek. Red sangria and pumpkin spiced lagers quenched our thirst. Moist pulled pork on an odd tasting wheat roll was better sans bread. The French onion soup not served with a tradition crusty cheese cap, but had the cheese commingled with the broth, onions and toasted croutons served at the oh, the right temperature - not warm, but hot and inviting. The California turkey panini, overflowing with thick slabs of roasted turkey breast with avocados was a guest's delight.
Review Source:The bread was fantastic. Â The hummus some of the best ever. Â Appetizers were delicious. The steak for my entree was great. Â The sides were not. Â Service was slow. Â Recommend reservations. Â Wine selection, while bountiful lacked favorites found elsewhere. Â Can't wait to try some other dishes. Â I'll be back!
Review Source:Food is fantastic but having a couple of sixteen year old hostess' pushing the bar when there are definitely empty tables left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Their excuses fully booked, waiting staff overwhelmed and yet they had empty tables.
This restaurant has excellent food that can stand on it's on without pushing the bar!
Too bad they do not have a dress code!
How do people give this place good reviews.
Service is a solid one star, I get better service at a dirty Chinese restaurant.
The food is bland, unseasoned, and flavorless.
This place gets 2 stars simply because of the baller slaving away in front of the wood-fire pizza oven serving up amazing goat cheese, strawberry, bacon, and balsamic flatbreads. Guy is the best; I see you pizza guy. This guy single handedly saves this forsaken place with his magical bread making hands.
Have people who reviewed this 4 and 5 star ever eaten at a real restaurant?
Bad service, mediocre food.  Some of the worst service at a restaurant I have experienced and was the only time I've had to send my food back to the kitchen.  My family and I were looking forward to celebrating a special occasion dinner here after hearing positive reviews.  We had an early dinner reservation on a Saturday and the restaurant was only half full.  Despite it not being busy, the kitchen was extremely slow.  Appetizers came out sporadically rather than together so that at any given time some at our table had food while the others did not. And it took over an hour for our entrees to arrive.  During the wait, our waiter was no where to be found.  No one stopped by our table to apologize for food taking longer than expected and to see if there was anything they could get us while we waited, including drinks/refills.  When the food finally did arrive, it included one of the restaurant's signature hearth-baked pizza that had been sitting out at the pizza station for 20-25 minutes under a heat lamp and a lukewarm burger, both of which we sent back and asked to be removed from the bill.  For a restaurant whose own menu talks about their "commitment" to the "freshest, highest  quality" food, they seem to have no problem serving their customers food that's been sitting out for an extended period of time and tastes like it.  The owner did stop by our table to see if there was anything he could do, like get us something else to eat.  When I told him "no thanks", he got annoyed that I wouldn't let him "cook something quick".  But at that point, I was so tired from the already long wait and so disappointed with the whole experience, that I had lost my appetite, and his attitude added salt to the wound.  He offered a free drink from the bar, but a $5 token gesture seemed too little too late. And why not have offered to credit any of the drinks that were already consumed?  It would have been better if he was proactive with his help during the hour+ we were waiting for our food when our waiter was AWOL, rather than reactive after the damage was already done.  It's a shame because we've been looking for a place in the Valley with good food and service to go as a family and we thought this was going to be the place.  Given the poor service, long wait time, and mediocre food on a night when the restaurant should be showcasing its best, our search continues.  I won't be back.
Review Source:Let me just say that the complimentary bread (paired with flavored butter, herb-infused olive oil and hummus) is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this place. Not only is it delicious, it goes to show that customer satisfaction is top priority at this restaurant. The only reason I am giving the restaurant 4 stars is for the lack of vegetarian options. I usually get the risotto (as delicious as it is), but am wanting to try some more of the fabulous food fire and ice has to offer. I usually pass on the oven baked pizzas, as I come here for cuisine. The cognac salads are wonderful, though. I will be back (again and again).
Review Source:This is becoming one of my favorite dinner spots at home, and I got my parents hooked too. We always get a bottle of Riesling to start as we devour all the free bread that is served with some kind of (delicious) flavored butter and hummus.
My favorites on the menu are: french onion soup, calamari (holy hell, so effing good), and all the risotto I can eat before wanting to vom. Love love love love!
We had reservations at another place that was closed due to weather. We called Fire and Ice in the middle of the afternoon and they managed to accommodate a group of 19 at the last minute for dinner. Food was excellent. Service was tremendous and the price was unbeatable. It worked out great for everyone in our group- from a two year old to our ninety year old guest of honor- everyone left with a smile.
Review Source:My husband and I were visiting the area from out of town and found this place on Yelp. Â We stopped for dinner without a reservation and were offered seats at the bar. Â We took them and were very glad that we did. Â The bread was really great and served with butter, olive oil, and hummus for dipping. Â We shared a large salad and then both ordered a chicken pot pie for our meal. Â It was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus and carrots. Â The pot pie was made with free-range chicken and it was obvious that they use good quality fresh ingredients. Â We each ordered a drink and were both pleased. Â Definitely happy worth our experience here and would make it a favorite if we lived here.
Review Source:We usually only go to Fire and Ice for "special" occasions. Â Their Mother's Day buffet is quite good, but the place is PACKED and it is hard to move around. Â We've been there once for a regular dinner and found the items to be great. Â The salad was wonderful, it had some kind of cranberry dressing on it.
Review Source:Catering review:
I recently attended a bridal shower and a wedding catered by Fire & Ice. Â The shower was held at the restaurant and the food was set up buffet style. Â There were a ton of choices including 2 different types of panini (one vegetarian option), lots of fresh fruit and cheeses, stuffed mushrooms, sesame chicken skewers and more that I can't quite remember. Â The servers kept the delicious sangria flowing and they kept putting fresh food out on the buffet.
The wedding was also set up buffet style and honestly, it was some of the best wedding food I've had. Â The buffet tables were set up so that a line could form on each side. Â There was delicious bread, hummus, assorted salads, steak, tuna steak, chicken kebobs, roasted vegetables, potatoes + some other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting. Â There was also a pasta station. Â The food was plentiful and fresh. Â People were getting 2 plates at a time and/or going up for seconds and there was plenty to go around. Â I didn't hear a single complaint about the food.
Excellent! Â We go there just for the soups. The french onion chicken was very delicious as well. Â The executive chef definitley has a lot of experience and talent in his field. Â The prices were perfect too. Because it is so affordable it is the one restaurant we will go to more than once in a month.
Review Source:What a nice dinner! Â We had no reservation on a busy Saturday night and were well taken care of by the Hostess'. Service was terrific with alot of hands on deck (well staffed). The menu is large with a variety of specials too. We tried the Chicken Pot Pie and the Lobster Mac & Cheese, both were good. A little loud in the main dining room during a busy dinner rush but overall a nice meal. We will be back!
Review Source:I love this place. Â I've never had a bad experience here. Â The servers are always very attentive. Â Occasionally there seems to be a shortage of servers, which can be a pain. Â The food is always very good. Â The pizzas are delicious and the appetizers are also great. Â It's nice that they give you nicely baked bread with hummus, oil, etc. while you're waiting for you food. Â Everything always seems to be fresh. Â The size of the desserts are perfect. Â Just a little something to end your meal with. Â On Tuesdays they offer half price bottles of wine!
Review Source:I finally visited this place after hoping to try it for quite some time. The ambiance wasn't quite what I expected; the banquette behind us was not bussed for a while and the floors were kind of dirty - needed a quick sweep with a broom. I guess I expected it to be a little more fine dining - cloth-covered tables, candles, etc. There were pub tables and lots of hardwoods - not a big deal. I was sat next to a table of four forty-somethings, one of whom was so close to me that he had to move his leg so I could sit in my seat.
The service, I have to note, was simply excellent. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The food left me wanting, though. I had a steak special, ordered medium, for $30. It was cooked rare, maybe even "blue" in the center. The server of course asked if I wanted to send it back to the kitchen and have them cook it more, but I never send food back, it doesn't feel right to me for some reason. So, I declined the offer, ate most of it, and took the rest home. The desserts were great, though. I loved the small portions. I would have given this place another star if my steak were cooked as I ordered it... I would expect that of a $30 dollar plate in this area.
I'm not a lost customer, just not quite sold yet. I'll give this place another go sometime soon.
I think fire and ice delivers some of the consistently best food in the valley and is overlooked and underrated, everything Ive eaten here has been amazing- they have many vegetarian options. I' ve been with friends who have gotten steaks multiple times and they have absolutely raved about them. Fire and Ice is definitely worth the stop
Review Source:My wife and I eat here about once a month, and we're never disappointed. The food is consistently good, as is the service. The bread, made in their wood pizza oven, is awesome and addictive. The only thing to watch for is that some dishes terms to be a little heavy on the cream. Other than that, I definitely recommend Fire and Ice!
Review Source:'Fire & Ice' is a nice breath of fresh Back Mountain air amidst the stench of all the chain "restaurants" that have infiltrated the Valley.
Every time I come home for a weekend visit, my family already knows that we're going here for dinner one night. We have our self-proclaimed table, the U-shaped booth in the bar area that is situated within the bay window. The ambiance of this place is really nice - quiet, dimly lit and pleasant service. We always start with cocktails to go along with their amazing bread, butter and hummus. Their appetizer dips are always good, as well as their salads. A favorite entree of mine, surprisingly, is their burger. It's always cooked perfectly with a beautiful bun - and the fries are good, too. They serve petite deserts, which are just perfect after going through the drinks, appetizers and entrees. Overall, this place is just a family-favorite so I don't really have anything bad to say about it. I wouldn't really recommend it for kids, since their menu is pretty adult-oriented. Plus, screaming babies and unruly children are never good when you're trying to have a nice dinner and some laughs with other people (yea, I said it). They can accommodate groups, and have a decent size bar which no one ever seems to sit at, so that's another option. I've seen people on dates here, but mostly 50-something divorcees trying to have an intimate meal. Cute, sort of. All in all, definitely give it a try if you're with a few friends and want an off-the-path place to enjoy a good meal that's actually cooked - and not from a chain restaurant mega microwave.
Four of us had dinner here last night (12/20/09). My wife had a chicken dish which she enjoyed very much. The three others had the boneless ribs. It was a major disappointment. It tasted more like pot roast, dry and stringy, and it had an awfully sweet marinara/spaghetti sauce on the meat.
I wouldn't come back to this place again. Prices are too high for what you get. Â It's just one more gussied up pizza joint in Northeastern PA with pretensions of things better than they are.
We stopped in here over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The bread at this place is amazing. We had a crab dip appetizer that was really good. Their salads were very good too. They also had a good drink selection, with Spaten Oktoberfest on tap.
The entrees we had were OK, but not as good as the appetizers. My shrimp scampi wasn't really shrimp scampi, and the pasta that came with it tasted off, my guess was that the spinach wasn't washed well enough. On the positive side, the pumpkin creme brulee was very good.
The service was good, and the building has always had a great ambiance. They are also open Sundays, which is really nice since its very hard to find good Sunday dining options around here. We will definitely be back.
