Food was awful. Looks nice from the outside but don't be fooled! Manager was very rude and condescending. :-/

I love this restaurant. Good Food. Great service! -and a magnificent view on the deck. Last time I was there the dolphins were running -and you definitely need a good breakfast to keep up with them. This is the place to get it.

Awesome place!! We went here on a Thursday night for a pre-celebration bachelorette party (since we partied all weekend). Good hip hop music on the rooftop. Great vibes! But I really want to point out the bouncers who were really generous at the door!

how can you not love $1 oysters on Wednesday WITH 1/2 off wine bottles?! Stopped by for a Donovan Frankenreiter concert but had dinner before. Great rooftop with view of the ocean. The food was nothing special. I had the ahi salad and it was a ton of lettuce with overly spicy dressing with 5 little pieces of tuna. The other person in my party had the chicken ranch wrap. It was your average wrap, nothing too crazy. If I go here again, it's going to be for the oysters but other than that, there are tons of better restaurants out there. sorry?

I hesitate to write this because I really enjoyed the staff at Firehouse. Our servers, Brittney and Reggie were wonderful. I held my cousin's birthday party on the rooftop for 40 guests. I had heard wonderful things about the rooftop atmosphere and thought this would be a great location. I went onto the website and was steered to send an email to an event coordinator. I have to say I was excited to speak with that person because I am an Event Coordinator and designer in the Los Angeles area. She was cordial and kind via email but I didn't get an opportunity to meet and/or speak with her until the day of the event. Needless to say, many details were left out that would have taken me elsewhere. I am older than the crowd that is catered to at Firehouse so I believe that an out of college, just beginning career individual would love this place.
I won't recommend it to anyone looking to have an event there, but would recommend it to someone staying in Pacific Beach.

Firehouse has one of the best breakfast's in Pacific Beach. Often overlooked for breakfast and lunch, but should be considered when you would like delicious food and drinks, while sitting on the roof looking at the Pacific Ocean. I had the Firehouse burger last time I dined there. Our server Tyler, was amazing. He made great suggestions and was attentive to my needs. Oscar the busser was great with refills and clearing clutter off of the table. I have always loved this place and would highly recommend it!

The first time I went here was probably im 2007 when they first opened. I went with my coworkers and boss for lunch. I don't remember what I had, but it was just ok. I know they changed ownership since then and I was invited to their anniversary party on Tuesday. The atmosphere is pretty fun and the restaurant looks like a fire station. We checked in at the door and saw these cute little bottles of Don Julio, but those were reserved for VIP members. They had open bar for another 15 minutes, so my friend ordered me something with pineapple and it was pretty strong. They were passing out apps, but I only got to try a few mini corn dogs. They were super cute, with an American flag sticking out of them. We went upstairs to check out the DJ, view, and some bagpiper players wearing kilts. I saw some guys about to smoke so I decided to leave. I don't want to smell like cigarettes. :P

Came back for brunch after a yoga the other morning and was unimpressed. Everything on the menu sounded good but the taste didn't actually come through.

Also, the tomato soup tastes wayyyyyy better with the grilled cheese. I ordered it alone and it was kind of lumpy and gross.

Matt was amazing thank You :)

Place is yummy....okay food. But the spot is fabulous...I mean the views are great. For summer it is perfect for going in, ordering a bottle of wine & sitting around the fireplace with surrounding oceanic views.

Definitely a perfect summertime spot for gathering & drinks.

Excellent breakfast food (served till 3PM)- especially  the Pecan Crusted French Toast.

Also, a great bar scene, usually with my taste in Music (EDM, Electro).

Sometimes overcrowded, but usually fun....One of my favorite places to go in PB.

personally I love this place, more-so for a nice lunch on the top level with the sun. The evening time can get a little wild with a younger crowd and the DJ typically plays music a little too loud for my taste for a dining experience. The food here is DELICIOUS and their drinks are even better. Its located right along the beach (you cant beat it), I would definitely go to here over other bar/eateries in the area.

Came here before going out to pb for a quick bite to eat and to grab a drink. First of all, the inside it super cute and the play videos of songs from the nineties which is cool. But thats about all i liked. The waiter seemed to either be new, hungover, or just not very attentive. Maybe all. He hardly came to our table. Our drinks were mild and over priced. My friend ordered a drink and he got someone elses. He of course tasted it before realizing it. The waiter came over and asked if he already drank out of it. What was he going to do? Take it to another person? Yeah, probably. What he should have done is just given us the drink and brought my friend a new one. Anyways, the food was mediocre. I got the quesadilla which came with tomato "soup." Only giving this place two stars because the service was pretty terrible and i wouldnt go back.

I loved this place. We came for breakfast and I had the eggs Benedict with the filet. It was the best I've ever had. I also had the cupcake trio which was provided by a nearby bakery called sugar and scribe. Amazing! The s'mores was my favorite flavor. I will be back here for sure!

Ok, let's be real, this place just isn't known for it's customer service.  We went here over the weekend for brunch and it was no exception.  Call me crazy for expecting a little decency and respect after waiting over an hour for our "30 minute wait" and dropping quite a bit of $$ on food and beverages, but I guess it makes no difference.

Our server was extremely passive aggressive- to the point where the whole table felt uncomfortable. She pretty much insulted my friend for not knowing what she wanted to order immediately when she asked.  She then continued say things like "no worries I am used to being ignored all the time," and "I'm back-ready to be ignored some more!"  Ummm awkward, take your issues somewhere else and don't take it out on your customers.  Also, it seemed like she messed up all of our orders to make a point, but maybe it was just a coincidence?

We had a blast here on a Thursday night. Walked in, had to wait a fair 20 minutes for a table on the beautiful rooftop area. We had Salmon and Halibut for dinner, both were amazing and the price was more than fair. Service was friendly and attentive. Later on, the place turned into a party with great tech-house music (the DJs were awesome!). I paid only 3$ for a Vodka & Lemon - unbelievable!

I stopped this eatery for a breakfast after a brisk morning walk. I quickly ordered a house coffee which was quite good. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/firehouse-american-eatery-and-lounge-san-diego-2?select=FZlJJotn95FnsEQCV_vvSQ#ZxstA2erGBMssLGo93mm9Q">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) The coffee came in a thick glass which made it look like a black and tan when I added the cream. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/firehouse-american-eatery-and-lounge-san-diego-2?select=FZlJJotn95FnsEQCV_vvSQ#kRbRCPxrqTVk8Z7FQnSh5w">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) Very cool.

For breakfast I ordered a New Steak Hash which comes with chopped New York Strip, country potatoes, peppers, onions, pepper jack, two eggs of your choice, horseradish, sour dough toast for $12. I had mine with the eggs scrambled. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/firehouse-american-eatery-and-lounge-san-diego-2?select=FZlJJotn95FnsEQCV_vvSQ#AgO9eba5twqgEWlAuOxjRQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) The meal was okay, but I could not overlook the chewy meat and the amount of grease it left at the bottom of the plate. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/firehouse-american-eatery-and-lounge-san-diego-2?select=FZlJJotn95FnsEQCV_vvSQ#GNqDqXD96AmI1pHSZ4lDUQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) The meat had a nice seer and its seasoning was light (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/firehouse-american-eatery-and-lounge-san-diego-2?select=FZlJJotn95FnsEQCV_vvSQ#nrSI8xQ5T7j5A05sCaRbPw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>), but it was just not as tender, as I would of liked. The eggs were nicely scrambled and seasoned well. The potatoes were pretty good, except for the ones near the bottom that soaked up some of the meat grease. I passed on those. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/firehouse-american-eatery-and-lounge-san-diego-2?select=FZlJJotn95FnsEQCV_vvSQ#wS8J3_1NCjb-5zo_RvsoZQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)

The service was really good. The girl who served had a great personality and she was very attentive. For the chewy meat and extra grease at the bottom my plate, I give the food 2 stars, but I had to add a star for the super service. So, I am settling for 3 stars. I can't forget the very good coffee!

This is a great spot for Sunday funday/brunch or afternoon drinks.  I just wish they paid a little more attention to providing good customer service.

Came here on a Sunday and after seating we waited exactly 20 minutes to even get noticed by a waitress.  I had to walk up to the bar where the waitresses were hanging out (flirting for tips actually) and attempted to get their attention.  It happens that right when I got one's attention and had the below conversation, a waitress came up to my table on the other side of the bar.

    Here's how our conversation went:
Me: Hey sorry to bother you but we've been waiting for service for over 15 minutes, can someone please come to our table?

Waitress:  You mean the table where that waitress is going right now?

Me:  There's no need for attitude, just didn't expect to wait that long to be noticed.

    *Waitress walks away...

Yeah, I decided to ignore it and enjoy the rest of my day but something like this damaged Firehouse's reputation for life.

Tried to have dinner there Saturday, Was told the wait would be about 20-30 minutes. I asked if we could go up to the bar and wait and was told yes. 30 minutes later no cocktail waitress and no table. Oh, there were plenty of employees they just didn't want to help two 50 year old couples. Even flagged down a busy waitress, she was drinking with a group of people I assume were her friends, she just walked past when she finished her drink. Asked to speak to the manager, Erin appeared and when I said we couldn't get a drink in the 30 minutes we were waiting she responded Oh! better luck elsewhere. She was right, walked down the block had a great dinner.

If you are older than 25 this might no be the spot for you.

Sexy! Sexy! Sexy! I want to start by saying the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I dined at the dead hour. The restaurant was in a transitional period from lunch to dinner, but I could easily see the attraction. I dined with my sister and best friend on the rooftop. It was twilight hour and the sun settled over us like a warm blanket. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant match the firehouse theme perfectly. In the back there are lush red couches perfect for groups of about 8-10. Thankfully no matter where you are seated the view is insatiable.

This was my first trip here but definitely not my last. My server Ashley was very attentive even though it was obvious she was very busy. I had a margarita to start and it actually wasn't just loaded with sweet & sour! The menu is American traditional style. I had the chicken ranch wrap, and it was loaded with chicken! The food was superb and a very generous portion. Overall this was a delightful experience. Both upstairs and downstairs bars are beautiful and have a great selection of beers on tap. Come for the view and food, but stay for the atmosphere and beautiful people.

Living in PB I go here a lot with friends and family for the ambiance. Saturday afternoon and night and Sunday morning.  The food is good, but not excellent. We all ordered various things including the chicken sandwich.  I go for the atmosphere and the ocean spray.  It's a great place to get over a hangover.  The top floor has a semi-ocean view and it's comfortable and inviting.  There are lounges to sprall out on. Kinda feels like a resort.  Roger was our server up on the roof deck and the customer service is friendly and helpful.  It can get kind of crowded, but I usually go when it's not.  The bar can get hoppin. Parking is no problem, they have valet.  The beach is just a couple of steps away and it's fun to go see a sunset after a goo meal.  I would give this establishment 3 stars.  Thumb's up!

Please tell me why my friend saw a waitress take a sip out of a tables drinks before serving it to them? How disgusting!! Any liking or respect I had for this place as a legitimate establishment is gone. Ew. Real classy Firehouse, I will not be coming back to order from you.

I've been here two separate occasions. Once during lunch, and once during late dinner/bar hours. I didn't get anything to eat during that lunch visit. During my dinner visit, I had a buffalo chicken wrap, and that tasted fine. Nothing spectacular. I liked the fries, though. As for the bar atmosphere later that night, I wasn't into it. Shots were $6, and the bartender only filled them like they were half-shots. It was more like a sip. Not that cool.

Two years later, and still in love with this place. There is something to be said about having a place that I've been going to for two years and it still feels great to go there. My favorite is walking to the front door and seeing Frankie greeting me with a friendly smile. Lisa, Seton, Adolphis, Andrew, Marina, and Stephanie always give me the best service.
Everyone else is always friendly too, but I'm still horrible with names. ;)

Just wanted to update and say thanks for another two years!

Went here last night for happy hour and loved the patio.  I think there has been some remodeling since my last visit a couple of years ago.  The rooftop patio is MUCH nicer than the downstairs area.  Even on cold San Diego evenings there are enough heaters to keep ya toasty.  I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps and wasn't disappointed.  Our waitress was very nice and fairly attentive too.  I can imagine this place being packed on the weekends but it was nice for a low-key Tuesday night.

Oh Firehouse, so many great times and memories!

Lets see if i can summarize the highlights of this place:
    - definitely one of the better places to go to PB on a Friday or Saturday night for music and overall ambiance. Its a hip place with trendy decor.
    - best part of this restaurant/lounge is the second floor with the partial view of the ocean
    - on Friday and Saturday nights the second floor turns into the club, gets pretty crazy and packed there
    - Food is very good, surprisingly! Had dinner a few times as well as branch. Excellent quality, good portions and amazingly quick and prompt service.
    - During summer months, on Sundays there are always day parties with the DJs spinning deep house
    - Drink specials
    - Free valet parking
    - Wednesday wine night specials

Delicious chicken and brie sandwich. Accompanying onion rings are the bomb.

The second story is comfortable and a good spot to hang out with friends. Thumbs up for all of the additional eye candy aka all of the servers and bartenders. I feel like such a cougar.

When I used to live in PB I liked to come here on Saturday nights and Sunday during the day.

I have only dined here probably 2 or 3 times.  My most recent was for a low key brunch with friends.  They were hungover, I was not.

Amanda was our server up on the roof deck.  She was very friendly and happy especially for working a Sunday brunch shift.  It took a while for us to get our checks but other than that, no complaints.

We all ordered various things including the chicken and waffles (apparently Miller's Field still takes the cake for their gravy), Station Scramble 2 Alarm (bacon, mushroom, spinach, pepper jack), the sunnyside BLT, and the Egg's Benedict.  The food was average, nothing to go overboard about.  The scramble was a little greasier than I had anticipated, it seemed like something better served at Denny's.  My friend's BLT apparently had soggy lettuce and I am not sure if that is because of the heat of the cheese or if they weren't added separately because it was definitely wilted.

    Everyone but myself got mimosas.

They have free valet (not sure the point of that but it's nice).  The valet guy wasn't there when we arrived but the hostess stamped our ticket anyway.  It is a private lot so there aren't meter maids or towing when dining there.

I will be back but probably for the drinking atmosphere only.  There are other oceanfront and downtown spots where you can get a better meal.

This place is on fire... Came here to grab grub and I did not want to leave. The music was on point but most of all the vibe remained up. I'll definitely take a group here to eat and chill. The roof top is the best spot to go.

I didn't actually eat here.. but I came during the Yelp event where certain alcholic drinks were half off :D ! It was awesome.

I ordered the PB Iced Tea, which came out PINK. Yeah, I had a guy ask me what drink I got, and I thought it was because he was gonna tell me it was a girly drink, but he wanted one too ! Yeah ! High fives were had there. I also saw a guy in a banana suit and gave him a high five too. Fun place upstairs. The decor is nice and being upstairs where you can see the city is always pleasant.

Since the PB Iced Tea was the only thing I ordered, I'll focus on it. It was like a long island iced tea, but with pink lemonade. GENIUS. BOMB. STRONG. I felt the warmness after I finished my drink. It was surprisingly good and strong. NOT a "girly" drink. I'll have to find a reason to come back here someday when I'm in SD.

Came here after having dinner nearby. Ordered two shots of chilled Goose... and the bill was $17 without tip. I don't mind paying that typical price but they were not even even full shots.

It was basically one shot divided to two. The bartender at that time looked very anal so I didn't even try to argue or complain. We drank what we paid for, used the restroom and left immediately. Am I coming back? No thanks.

After coming here throughout the years I have had my fair share of experiences ranging from intimate brunches to large group gatherings all taken place on the legendary rooftop.

My first impression of this place was that it was a little fancy for PB, as a PB native I am accustomed to the corner Mexican joints and hole in the wall restaurants. This place was tastefully dressed in the lower level, but the upper level had a more relaxed vibe with lounge chairs and a bar.

As for the food, I have never been disappointed with a single plate I have ordered. My top picks are the mini corn dogs, Mac n cheese, and the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The food is a little on the pricey side but we usually come here for the appetizers. It is also a great spot to grab some drinks for the night crowd. Last time I came here they had a DJ but I'm not sure if they always have one every weekend.

The only issue is the parking situation but that's typical in PB, if you can't find street parking they do offer valet if your willing to fork out some cash. Other than that I'd recommend giving this place a shot.

I used to live in PB and would always take my friends to Firehouse.

I LOVE the rooftop seating. Their are lounge chairs and fires, and the drinks are great. The food is American, but everything is good. I always ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Parking is tough, but you can't beat the location, the view from the roof, and the food. If you are indoors, make sure to check out the wii they have set up :)

Firehouse is a great place for some rooftop dining or just when you need a bite to eat coming off the beach as it's literally steps away from it. I've eaten here several times and have always had good service and good food. Most of the time I get the crab legs and then also order a side of fries, which automatically comes with a side ranch (as all fries should).

The location is great but the parking can be slim pickings in the small lot right outside the restaurant. But if you are willing to walk a few blocks, it's pretty easy to usually find street parking. They also have complimentary valet service, but I'm not sure if that's a regular thing. If it is, I think it's new since last time I went.

The place has consistent good service and the menu has burgers, sandwiches, some seafood and a large assortment of appetizers. Sometimes it can get pretty busy especially if you're wanting to sit on the roof, but it's right near an area where other restaurants are close by.

The food rocks.  No doubt that the grilled cheese and tomato soup combo hits the spot. The chicken sandwich is also delicious.

The atmosphere on the deck upstairs is a great view of PB and the fire pit makes it a great spot to hang out one the sun goes down.

Take visitors to PB here for some good food that is a bit classier than the regular bars on the beach.

I am so biased on this place.

I absolutely LOVE the bartenders.  They have a great nighttime scene - it is casual and has a crowd of all ages. The drinks are very expensive, but worth it (especially if you get a Moscow Mule).

DO NOT plan on staying here until 2am. The mean, hot-headed bouncers will have the place shut down by 1:35am...even if you purchased a drink at last-call.  I have been there twice where I've literally been made to put down my drink and get out by 1:30am.

If you're going to close at 1:30, then you better change your times ASAP.  I also know a few others who were completely offended by the bounces attitude and inconsideration.

I don't recommend this place unless you're going for a happy hour drink. I definitely won't be going back for the nighttime scene.
